Are you ready for the last day?

Today is the last day of this year.

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE Are you ready for the last day?

Are you ready for the last day?

I have mixed feelings. Hmm… I have some pleasant memories and some sad memories. I’m very vulnerable. I have a good time with friends. We had a hearttoheart talk about our way. I shed many tears. Is this sympathy? I’m very vulnerable. But I’ll never give up. Get a grip, gird your loins, make your case and quit whining.

What is our way?

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE Are you ready for the last day?

What kind of person are you? These days, this question was very important to me. What do you think of these days? I was wondering.

The way I walk is to pursue ‘Growth‘. Next year, I have many things to want to do. What I want is ‘Driving force‘. What I want is ‘Counseling‘. I want to change. I have to change.

Otherwise, I’ll lose me…

I want to change. I have to change.

Happy New year!!!!! 🙂

Talent or effort? ‘Grit & Growth Mindset & Deliberate Practice’

Talent or effort?

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE Talent or effort? 'Grit & Growth Mindset & Deliberate Practice' talent Growth mindset Grit effort deliberate practice Carol Dweck Angela Duckworth Anders Ericsson

What do you think is more important thing for success?

I first think talent is not changed. So I focused on effort. But when compared with other people, It brings me down. So I think there is a problem in my talent. However, I didn’t stop my effort. Sometimes I cried and sometimes I was happy. This is my story.

How about you? 🙂

Grit : the power of passion and perseverance

I will tell you the latest research. Do you know ‘Grit‘?

Let’s see this TED video. Angela Duckworth [Grit : the power of passion and perseverance]

What is the criteria that predicts success ? It wasn’t IQ.

So, what is it? It was Grit. What is Grit?

Angela Duckworth said “Grit is passion and perseverance for very long-term goals. Grit is sticking with your future, day in, day out, not just for the week, not just for the month, but for years, and working really hard to make that future a reality” in TED.

What’s more surprising is the reason why Angela Duckworth started this research. It’s some sad. She always heard of the same thing from her father. “You have no talent!!!” “You have no talent!!!” “You have no talent!!!”

How awful would that be…?

Growth mindset

How could we build Grit?

Angela Duckworth suggests that ‘Growth mindset‘ is a one of best ideas. This is an idea developed at Stanford University by Carol Dweck It is the belief that the ability to learn is not fixed, so you can change with your effort.

Let’s see a Video. Carol Dweck, “Developing a Growth Mindset

Do you want to succeed?

First I ask you. What does ‘Success’ mean to you?

Success is exciting. Me too. So, we would have to make an effort. Just trying hard?

The Power of Vulnerability and Shame(Brene Brown) : Be strong when you reveal

Why is Shame important?

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE The Power of Vulnerability and Shame(Brene Brown) : Be strong when you reveal Whole-hearted vulnerability Shame research overt narcissism narcissism Initiative guilt Erikson Covert narcissism Connection Brene Brown Autonomy

Do you know about ‘Daring Greatly : How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead’? It was written by Brene Brown.

If you haven’t read it, I highly recommend that you see this video.

[TED] Brene Brown: The power of vulnerability

This is a video about shame that I am interested in these days.

Let’s talk about Brene Brown’s research.

She first started to research about ‘Connection’. Why? If you studied social welfare for 10 years, We all comes down to ‘Connection’ in the end.

If people are asked about ‘Connection’, what people said? People talk about ‘Disconnection’. Shame is a fear of disconnection. Here comes shame.

Brene Brown studied about shame for 6 years. She divide people into two classes. There are the people who have a strong sense of love and belonging and the people who really struggle for it. They believe they’re worthy. It is a key point. But It is very hard for me. So I’m interested in ‘Shame’. You know why?

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE The Power of Vulnerability and Shame(Brene Brown) : Be strong when you reveal Whole-hearted vulnerability Shame research overt narcissism narcissism Initiative guilt Erikson Covert narcissism Connection Brene Brown Autonomy

She named people who believe they’re worthy as ‘Whole-hearted’. She find out about the difference deeply. The research is going on, so.

But Vulnerability and Shame is more important than I thought. Vulnerability is a key point for personal relationships. Also, the company is where people gather. Vulnerability can change one’s life forever. Likewise, vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity and change. So it is popular.

Do you know Covert narcissism?

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE The Power of Vulnerability and Shame(Brene Brown) : Be strong when you reveal Whole-hearted vulnerability Shame research overt narcissism narcissism Initiative guilt Erikson Covert narcissism Connection Brene Brown Autonomy

These people look very kind and humble. But in inner side, they are no different from Overt narcissism that we usually call Narcissism. But they are very shy. Why? Covert narcissism is deeply related with ‘Shame’. These days, I think my problem is related with covert narcissism. Here comes shame. I feel something connected.

Get back to Brene Brown. She find out relationship between shame and guilty. Shame is a focus on self, guilt is a focus on behavior. Shame is “I am bad.” Guilt is “I did something bad.“

Erikson‘s Stages of Development.

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE The Power of Vulnerability and Shame(Brene Brown) : Be strong when you reveal Whole-hearted vulnerability Shame research overt narcissism narcissism Initiative guilt Erikson Covert narcissism Connection Brene Brown Autonomy

Do you know where these concepts are used? It’s a Erikson‘s Stages of Development.

  • In early childhood(1-3 years), There are conflict between ‘Autonomy’ and ‘Shame’.
  • In play age(3-6 years), There are conflict between ‘Initiative’ and ‘Guilt’.

If you don’t develop in during this each time, you will experiences these problems.

Here was my research.

I will be more fully thinking.

I’m determined to change me. I hope you walking down your path.
I expect you to do your best. 🙂

No other man will scorn,

Where love will bless the earth

And peace its paths adorn

I dream a world where all

Will know sweet freedom’s way,

Where greed no longer saps the soul

Nor avarice blights our day.

A world I dream where black or white,

Whatever race you be,

Will share the bounties of the earth

And every man is free,

Where wretchedness will hang its head

And joy, like a pearl,

Attends the needs of all mankind

Of such I dream, my world!

Where is the love? ‘Black Eyed Peas’

Where is the love? The Black Eyed Peas

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE Where is the love? 'Black Eyed Peas'

A song made group a star. This group is in danger of going out of business.

This song is a The Black Eyed Peas’s 2003 hit song ‘Where is the Love’

This song is remade in 2016.

Why?

Group Leader Will.i.am remake the song because he feel again a sense of crisis that happen around the world. Racism, terrorism and war is everywhere.

“Where Is The Love?”

What’s wrong with the world, mama
People livin’ like they ain’t got no mamas
I think the whole world addicted to the drama
Only attracted to things that’ll bring you traumaOverseas, yeah, we try to stop terrorism
But we still got terrorists here livin’
In the USA, the big CIA
The Bloods and The Crips and the KKK

But if you only have love for your own race
Then you only leave space to discriminate
And to discriminate only generates hate
And when you hate then you’re bound to get irate, yeah

Madness is what you demonstrate
And that’s exactly how anger works and operates
Man, you gotta have love just to set it straight
Take control of your mind and meditate
Let your soul gravitate to the love, y’all, y’all

People killin’, people dyin’
Children hurt and you hear them cryin’
Can you practice what you preach?
Or would you turn the other cheek?

Father, Father, Father help us
Send some guidance from above
‘Cause people got me, got me questionin’
Where is the love (Love)

Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love, the love, the love

It just ain’t the same, old ways have changed
New days are strange, is the world insane?
If love and peace are so strong
Why are there pieces of love that don’t belong?

Nations droppin’ bombs
Chemical gasses fillin’ lungs of little ones
With ongoin’ sufferin’ as the youth die young
So ask yourself is the lovin’ really gone

So I could ask myself really what is goin’ wrong
In this world that we livin’ in people keep on givin’ in
Makin’ wrong decisions, only visions of them dividends
Not respectin’ each other, deny thy brother
A war is goin’ on but the reason’s undercover

The truth is kept secret, it’s swept under the rug
If you never know truth then you never know love
Where’s the love, y’all, come on (I don’t know)
Where’s the truth, y’all, come on (I don’t know)
Where’s the love, y’all

People killin’, people dyin’
Children hurt and you hear them cryin’
Can you practice what you preach?
Or would you turn the other cheek?

Father, Father, Father help us
Send some guidance from above
‘Cause people got me, got me questionin’
Where is the love (Love)

Where is the love (The love)?
Where is the love (The love)?
Where is the love (The love)?
Where is the love (The love)?
Where is the love (The love)?
Where is the love (The love)?
Where is the love, the love, the love?

I feel the weight of the world on my shoulder
As I’m gettin’ older, y’all, people gets colder
Most of us only care about money makin’
Selfishness got us followin’ the wrong direction

Wrong information always shown by the media
Negative images is the main criteria
Infecting the young minds faster than bacteria
Kids wanna act like what they see in the cinema

Yo’, whatever happened to the values of humanity
Whatever happened to the fairness and equality
Instead of spreading love we’re spreading animosity
Lack of understanding, leading us away from unity

That’s the reason why sometimes I’m feelin’ under
That’s the reason why sometimes I’m feelin’ down
There’s no wonder why sometimes I’m feelin’ under
Gotta keep my faith alive ’til love is found
Now ask yourself

Where is the love?
Where is the love?
Where is the love?
Where is the love?

Father, Father, Father, help us
Send some guidance from above
‘Cause people got me, got me questionin’
Where is the love?

Sing with me y’all:
One world, one world (We only got)
One world, one world (That’s all we got)
One world, one world
And something’s wrong with it (Yeah)
Something’s wrong with it (Yeah)
Something’s wrong with the wo-wo-world, yeah
We only got
(One world, one world)
That’s all we got
(One world, one world)

So I want to ask you. Where is the love? Is it inside you?

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE Bob Dylan : 2016 Nobel Literature Prize

The Nobel Prize in Literature 2016 was awarded to Bob Dylan “for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition”.

This prize arouse an echo. Why? Because he is better known as “Musician” than “Writers”. Bob Dylan is an American songwriter, singer, artist, and writer. He is influential people.

What he affects?

Early songs such as “Blowin’ in the Wind” and “The Times They Are a-Changin’” became anthems for the American civil rights and anti-war movements.

Let me introduce you this two songs.

Blowin’ in the Wind

How many roads must a man walk down
Before you call him a man ?
How many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand ?
Yes, how many times must the cannon balls fly
Before they’re forever banned ?
The answer my friend is blowin’ in the wind
The answer is blowin’ in the wind.

Yes, how many years can a mountain exist
Before it’s washed to the sea ?
Yes, how many years can some people exist
Before they’re allowed to be free ?
Yes, how many times can a man turn his head
Pretending he just doesn’t see ?
The answer my friend is blowin’ in the wind
The answer is blowin’ in the wind.

Yes, how many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky ?
Yes, how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry ?
Yes, how many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died ?
The answer my friend is blowin’ in the wind
The answer is blowin’ in the wind.

The Times They Are a-Changin

Come gather ’round people Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters Around you have grown
And accept it that soon You’ll be drenched to the bone. If your time to you Is worth savin’
Then you better start swimmin’ Or you’ll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin’.

Come writers and critics Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide The chance won’t come again
And don’t speak too soon For the wheel’s still in spin And there’s no tellin’ who That it’s namin’.
For the loser now Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin’.

Come senators, congressmen Please heed the call
Don’t stand in the doorway Don’t block up the hall
For he that gets hurt Will be he who has stalled
There’s a battle outside And it is ragin’.
It’ll soon shake your windows And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin’.

Come mothers and fathers Throughout the land And don’t criticize What you can’t understand
Your sons and your daughters Are beyond your command Your old road is Rapidly agin’.
Please get out of the new one If you can’t lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin’.

The line it is drawn The curse it is cast
The slow one now Will later be fast
As the present now Will later be past
The order is Rapidly fadin’.
And the first one now Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin’.

Have you tried to sip the lyrics? It is more meaningful when hearing if you think What’s its meaning. Always songs for human rights heat up my mind.

Do you have any favorite song? I am curious. 🙂

Do you know what is surprising? Bob Dylan is still unresponsive to the Nobel Prize!!!

Let’s see what happens. 🙂

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2016-10-3 Yoshinori Ohsumi

The Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet has today decided to award

the 2016 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine

to

Yoshinori Ohsumi

for his discoveries of mechanisms for autophagy.

Who is he?

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2016-10-3 Yoshinori Ohsumi

Yoshinori Ohsumi was born 1945 in Fukuoka, Japan. He received a Ph.D. from University of Tokyo in 1974. After spending three years at Rockefeller University, New York, USA, he returned to the University of Tokyo where he established his research group in 1988. He is since 2009 a professor at the Tokyo Institute of Technology.

Do you know Autophagy? Had you ever heard of it before?

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2016-10-3 Yoshinori Ohsumi

Wikipedia says Autophagy (or autophagocytosis) (from the Greek auto-, “self” and phagein, “to eat”), is the natural, destructive mechanism that disassembles, through a regulated process, unnecessary or dysfunctional cellular components.

What does Yoshinori Ohsumi do?

Yoshinori Ohsumi used baker’s yeast to identify genes essential for autophagy. He then went on to elucidate the underlying mechanisms for autophagy in yeast and showed that similar sophisticated machinery is used in our cells.

Meaning of this study

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2016-10-3 Yoshinori Ohsumi

His discoveries opened the path to understanding the fundamental importance of autophagy in many physiological processes, such as in the adaptation to starvation or response to infection.

Cells also use autophagy to eliminate damaged proteins and organelles, a quality control mechanism that is critical for counteracting the negative consequences of AGING.

Disrupted autophagy has been linked to Parkinson’s disease, type 2 diabetes and other disorders that appear in the elderly. Mutations in autophagy genes can cause genetic disease. Disturbances in the autophagic machinery have also been linked to CANCER.

Finally Intense research is now ongoing to develop drugs that can target autophagy in various diseases.

What can we get from this study?

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2016-10-3 Yoshinori Ohsumi

At first, there would be no much difference. Over time, “autophagy” will be emerging as a powerful keyword. Wherever you go, you will see “autophagy”.

Our life is always like yesterday and today… But we will always find the answer!!! Social will get better little by little!!! We can make it!!!

Someone says it is reckless optimism. It is very sharp observation. I want to be a certain person. Also I want many people to be Messenger of PeaceThen the world will be more cool. 🙂

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE What is 'LOVE'?

Love… It is always Hot. It sometimes makes me feel happy.

Have you ever fell in love?

Hmm… I’d never been in love before. Love… is always hard to me.

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE What is 'LOVE'?

Do you know ‘Urban Zakapa’? It is a vocal group in Korea.

I love this song. Sometimes when I walked alone on the street, I listen to this song.

I Don’t Love You

What should I say? Where do I start?
I’m only hanging my head. You’re looking at me.
In this awkward silence

I don’t love you. I’m sure you already know.
Even when I see you shedding tears. My heart doesn’t ache any more.

I don’t love you. There’s no other reason
I don’t even want to say “I’m sorry” or “forgive me”

That’s  all. This is how I really feel.
I don’t love you. I don’t love you

I don’t love you. I’m sure you already know.
Even when I see you shedding tears. My heart doesn’t ache any more.

I don’t love you There’s no other reason
I don’t even want to say “I’m sorry” or “forgive me”

That’s  all. This is how I really feel.
I don’t love you. I don’t love you

I don’t love you There’s no other reason
I don’t want to say the words I’m sorry or forgive me

That’s  all. This is how I really feel.
I don’t love you. I don’t love you.

Hmm… Today is no good. But I think ‘sadness’ is a powerful driving force.

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE What is 'LOVE'?

Does something bad happen to you today?

If so, you can cry until you are happy. 🙂
