A STEP TOWARDS PEACE How to write Planning document : Successfully Fascinatingly
“Manager James, Write a planning document by tomorrow”

A ‘planning document’ is always hard to me. Have you ever experienced that situation? James may thought ‘What should I do now? Oh, No! Maybe I could spend the night. It’s horrible.’ And James really stayed up all night. He gave his sincere planning document to Boss proudly. But in five minutes later, he got out of the room with a long face. Why? He got his fingers burned. Boss said “For what?  Stop! In a word? I do not feel it, not a bit! So what? So you think I should do this?” If I were him, I’d be out of my mind.

I write this column on the basis of this book. But this book ‘Standard procedure of the project‘ is only Korean edition. It‘s sad. This book is very pragmatic. It is made up of 4 parts. Here it is! ‘For what?’  ‘Stop! In a word?’ ‘I do not feel it, not a bit! So what?’ ‘So you think I should do this?’ It is an application of 4 MAT(Dr. Bernice McCarthy (USA)). Now, Let’s start!

“Why are you do that? For what?”

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE How to write Planning document : Successfully Fascinatingly
“Why are you do that? For what?”

Why is very important. We must prepare to this question. It’s a little bit too harsh. If we can live through this, we can live through anything. In a word, you can success when you are not working as planner. Everything is consumer-friendly. ‘Why do they need to do this?’ We must focus this! Do you know 5 Whys? The technique was formally developed by Sakichi Toyoda who is the founder of Toyota Industries. It said to us “When you are facing problems, try to repeat ‘Why?’ five times. If you do, you can see the real cause and do something real.” This is the first step.

“Stop! In a word?”

He may have a hot temper. In a word, it is a ‘Concept’. This one sentence must be written in their mind. It’s a good topic for conversation. “Why are you do that?” “Beause It’s meaningful!” “I want to see how Ive grown.” It can also be comforting. It sends message that It is not your fault. “Aha! It was not my fault… I’m relieved. If I just simply fix it, everything will be fine.”

“I do not feel it, not a bit! So what?”

It is important to draw a picture in opponent’s head. So far, analysis and concept is really good. But we still did not come up with any real things. Now all we have to do is to show things seemed to run already. Let us know the dialogue between moms in advance. Show twitter and facebook page in advance. All of this are predicting.

“So you think I should do this?”

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE How to write Planning document : Successfully Fascinatingly
“So you think I should do this?”

This is a finishing blow. Hearing about all these, he still hesitate to give a definite answer. Here, we need numbers. “What would happened if we did?60,000 students can see our brands. 180,000 people can change their life. It can add $10 million to us. It can be a successful transaction each other. Now, you can get out of the room satisfactorily.

Did you read well? Now is the time to initiate real planning. It will make you the best. Good luck to you. 🙂

Syrian Rebels won’t Attend Peace Talks

Syrian civil war is not end

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE Syrian Rebels won't Attend Peace Talks Syrian civil war is approaching for the sixth consecutive year. The result of Syrian civil war is 450,000 deaths and 12 million refugees. This is so terrible. It seemed an awfully long time for Syrian people. On December 30th last year, the Syrian government forces and Syrian Rebels called a total cease-fire. On December 31th last year, the U.N. Security Council unanimously passed a resolution supporting Syria’s total cease-fire.

But volatile energy is happening again. Syrian Rebels won’t attend Peace Talks. Why? What’s certain is that It is not just Rebel’s fault.

According to British broadcasting BBC, many Syrian rebels issued a joint statement on January 2. “The alliance with government forces are in violation of a cease-fire agreement to continue the bombing.” These Syrian rebels stressed “If Syria Government forces continued to breach an agreement, Syrian rebels will suspend all discussions related to peace talks held in Astana, Kazakhstan.”

Syria Government forces attacked a Barada valley in northwest of Damascus. It is a strategic location that is in charge of Syrian capital’s main water supply.

Do you know the Wadi Barada media office? It is a civic group that report massive air strikes. Syrian Rebels added ‘There were at least nine times of air strikes form January 1st. 6 were killed and 73 were wounded.

What else can we do to stop War?

Have you ever fell in love? Yes or No? What do you do when you are in love? Someone can say “When I’m in love, I bet my life” and another can say “I am alive only when I love”. Can you see my point? 🙂

Peace is like ‘Love’. Here is the answer. There can be no peace without love. Do you bet your life? Can you say “I am alive only when I cry out for peace”? But that’s easier said than done.

 So we must change myself. 🙂 Good luck to you.

Monday (local time) Britain BBC reported that African refugee hiding in a suitcase was caught by the Spanish border guards of the North Africa. He want to go to the ‘Ceuta‘. He is a 19-year-old man from Gabon. He received first aid shortly after discovery.

Refugee’s stories is a lot. Nowadays there is a continuing major refugee problem. I’ll tell you more.

One woman hid under the dashboard space and one man hid under rear seat. What’s surprising is that two man and woman hid in the same car. She received first aid with breathing troubles.

January 1st, the 1,100 refugee wanted to slip across the border in Ceuta. Then, Morocco military police come into conflict with 1,100 refugee. Both suffered injuries one after the other.

What do you think? In fact, It is not near from us. We wake up without any sense. He could drink coffee, we could  go to School. But Refugee have no choice. How miserable it is!!! It is not pity. Do you think Refugee is the same person like us?

If you or your family lived like that, You will be very upset. You can not sleep to resolve this issue. But we may or may not solve the problem of us. I understand that we are equally hard. I hope that we have to try a little harder. We must solve the problem.

Make 2017 a peace for year : Antonio Guterres ‘Appeal for peace’

Happy New Year!!!

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE Make 2017 a peace for year : Antonio Guterres ‘Appeal for peace’ UN secretary-general UN resolution Rainer Maria Rilke Question Happy New Year Donald Trump António Guterres

There are three days through the New Year’s Day. Have you made your New Year’s resolutions? Let’s see Antonio Guterres’s resolution.

Make 2017 a peace for year

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE Make 2017 a peace for year : Antonio Guterres ‘Appeal for peace’ UN secretary-general UN resolution Rainer Maria Rilke Question Happy New Year Donald Trump António Guterres

Antonio Guterres took office as the ninth UN secretary-general on Sunday.

Before starting work on his first day, he gave a new year’s address. He said he will make 2017 a peace for year.

“On this New Year’s Day, I ask all of you to join me in making one shared New Year’s resolution: Let us resolve to put peace first. Let us make 2017 a year in which we all — citizens, governments, leaders — strive to overcome our differences.”

He seem to have a strong will for peace. This year is really special. Many people cry out for peace. However, achieving peace is really difficult. Donald Trump also criticized UN as a “club for people to get together, talk and have a good time”. He have to try hard to show ‘UN is Not’.

One Question on his heart

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE Make 2017 a peace for year : Antonio Guterres ‘Appeal for peace’ UN secretary-general UN resolution Rainer Maria Rilke Question Happy New Year Donald Trump António Guterres

Antonio Guterres said one question weighs heavy on his heart. “That is: how can we help the millions of people caught up in conflict, suffering massively in wars with no end in sight?”

He is a leader of UN. We know that. But his speech was not impressing as he said well. Do you really think it make sense? I was shocked when I discovered my insensibility. I am just ordinary citizens and Antonio Guterres is a leader of UN!!! It was surprising. The same applies to you. Do you have any ‘Question’ on your heart? Most of the people don’t have any question.

“Have patience with everything that remains unsolved in your heart. … live in the question.” – Rainer Maria Rilke, ‘Letters to a Young Poet’

What for do I live? What’s important to me? May I live like this? It is not so bad to look for your question. Then you can feel the value, too. You can understand how great saying of Antonio Guterres is.

Let’s go our way. Are you ready? I’m expecting you. 🙂

Are you ready for the last day?

Today is the last day of this year.

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE Are you ready for the last day?

Are you ready for the last day?

I have mixed feelings. Hmm… I have some pleasant memories and some sad memories. I’m very vulnerable. I have a good time with friends. We had a hearttoheart talk about our way. I shed many tears. Is this sympathy? I’m very vulnerable. But I’ll never give up. Get a grip, gird your loins, make your case and quit whining.

What is our way?

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE Are you ready for the last day?

What kind of person are you? These days, this question was very important to me. What do you think of these days? I was wondering.

The way I walk is to pursue ‘Growth‘. Next year, I have many things to want to do. What I want is ‘Driving force‘. What I want is ‘Counseling‘. I want to change. I have to change.

Otherwise, I’ll lose me…

I want to change. I have to change.

Happy New year!!!!! 🙂

Talent or effort? ‘Grit & Growth Mindset & Deliberate Practice’

Talent or effort?

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE Talent or effort? 'Grit & Growth Mindset & Deliberate Practice' talent Growth mindset Grit effort deliberate practice Carol Dweck Angela Duckworth Anders Ericsson

What do you think is more important thing for success?

I first think talent is not changed. So I focused on effort. But when compared with other people, It brings me down. So I think there is a problem in my talent. However, I didn’t stop my effort. Sometimes I cried and sometimes I was happy. This is my story.

How about you? 🙂

Grit : the power of passion and perseverance

I will tell you the latest research. Do you know ‘Grit‘?

Let’s see this TED video. Angela Duckworth [Grit : the power of passion and perseverance]

What is the criteria that predicts success ? It wasn’t IQ.

So, what is it? It was Grit. What is Grit?

Angela Duckworth said “Grit is passion and perseverance for very long-term goals. Grit is sticking with your future, day in, day out, not just for the week, not just for the month, but for years, and working really hard to make that future a reality” in TED.

What’s more surprising is the reason why Angela Duckworth started this research. It’s some sad. She always heard of the same thing from her father. “You have no talent!!!” “You have no talent!!!” “You have no talent!!!”

How awful would that be…?

Growth mindset

How could we build Grit?

Angela Duckworth suggests that ‘Growth mindset‘ is a one of best ideas. This is an idea developed at Stanford University by Carol Dweck It is the belief that the ability to learn is not fixed, so you can change with your effort.

Let’s see a Video. Carol Dweck, “Developing a Growth Mindset

Do you want to succeed?

First I ask you. What does ‘Success’ mean to you?

Success is exciting. Me too. So, we would have to make an effort. Just trying hard?

The Power of Vulnerability and Shame(Brene Brown) : Be strong when you reveal

Why is Shame important?

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE The Power of Vulnerability and Shame(Brene Brown) : Be strong when you reveal Whole-hearted vulnerability Shame research overt narcissism narcissism Initiative guilt Erikson Covert narcissism Connection Brene Brown Autonomy

Do you know about ‘Daring Greatly : How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead’? It was written by Brene Brown.

If you haven’t read it, I highly recommend that you see this video.

[TED] Brene Brown: The power of vulnerability

This is a video about shame that I am interested in these days.

Let’s talk about Brene Brown’s research.

She first started to research about ‘Connection’. Why? If you studied social welfare for 10 years, We all comes down to ‘Connection’ in the end.

If people are asked about ‘Connection’, what people said? People talk about ‘Disconnection’. Shame is a fear of disconnection. Here comes shame.

Brene Brown studied about shame for 6 years. She divide people into two classes. There are the people who have a strong sense of love and belonging and the people who really struggle for it. They believe they’re worthy. It is a key point. But It is very hard for me. So I’m interested in ‘Shame’. You know why?

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE The Power of Vulnerability and Shame(Brene Brown) : Be strong when you reveal Whole-hearted vulnerability Shame research overt narcissism narcissism Initiative guilt Erikson Covert narcissism Connection Brene Brown Autonomy

She named people who believe they’re worthy as ‘Whole-hearted’. She find out about the difference deeply. The research is going on, so.

But Vulnerability and Shame is more important than I thought. Vulnerability is a key point for personal relationships. Also, the company is where people gather. Vulnerability can change one’s life forever. Likewise, vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity and change. So it is popular.

Do you know Covert narcissism?

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE The Power of Vulnerability and Shame(Brene Brown) : Be strong when you reveal Whole-hearted vulnerability Shame research overt narcissism narcissism Initiative guilt Erikson Covert narcissism Connection Brene Brown Autonomy

These people look very kind and humble. But in inner side, they are no different from Overt narcissism that we usually call Narcissism. But they are very shy. Why? Covert narcissism is deeply related with ‘Shame’. These days, I think my problem is related with covert narcissism. Here comes shame. I feel something connected.

Get back to Brene Brown. She find out relationship between shame and guilty. Shame is a focus on self, guilt is a focus on behavior. Shame is “I am bad.” Guilt is “I did something bad.“

Erikson‘s Stages of Development.

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE The Power of Vulnerability and Shame(Brene Brown) : Be strong when you reveal Whole-hearted vulnerability Shame research overt narcissism narcissism Initiative guilt Erikson Covert narcissism Connection Brene Brown Autonomy

Do you know where these concepts are used? It’s a Erikson‘s Stages of Development.

  • In early childhood(1-3 years), There are conflict between ‘Autonomy’ and ‘Shame’.
  • In play age(3-6 years), There are conflict between ‘Initiative’ and ‘Guilt’.

If you don’t develop in during this each time, you will experiences these problems.

Here was my research.

 I will be more fully thinking.

I’m determined to change me. I hope you walking down your path.
 I expect you to do your best. 🙂

“Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
It is in dying to self that we are born to eternal life.”

This peace prayer makes me solemn. This makes me feel abashed to my life.

He was born into a rich family. He left behind all money and lived in poverty.

When he was 20 years old, he was held captive for one year. That incident had a big impact on his life. He took no pleasure in his secular life any more.

Church of St. Francis of Assisi  is famous for tourist destination.

Have you heard of the famous anecdote about this ‘peace prayer’?

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE Saint Francis of Assisi "Peace Prayer" Saint Francis of Assisi Peace prayer Peace leprosy

One evening there was someone knocking the door of the Saint Francis. A  tough leprosy patient was standing out. He is so cold so he entreat Francis to  get warm in the room for a moment.

He took leprosy patient by the hand to lead him into the room. Then the patient want to have a dinner again. The two ate dinner together.

Late into the night, the patient is too cold. So the patient asked again the Francis to melt him in the nude. He make him warm.

When Saint Francis woke up in the next day, The patient was an illusion. Francis was aware of God. And he gave ‘peace prayer‘ to God.

How did you spend your this morning?

Listen to the inner voice.

Why don’t you make your ‘Peace Prayer’?

Go only your peace way. I hoped it. 🙂

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry censure Syria government for indiscriminate attacks. “Indiscriminate attacks are war crimes and crimes against humanity in Aleppo”. He confirmed “Today through two time dialogue, Assad would be willing to participate in negotiations with rebels.” John Kerry said “Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is open to Syria peace talks”.

At this meeting, Syrian rebel leader also attended.

Enter the negotiations unconditionally

Western delegates urged ‘Syrian government and rebels must enter the negotiations unconditionally’. But The rebels said they would not start negotiations if discussing Mr. Assad’s resignation is placed as a precondition.

2016 April, rebels and government representatives held the Syria peace talks in Geneva. But Assad’s position didn’t even get a mention at all. So, The negotiations broke down.

Secretary Kerry said “As losing the hub of Aleppo, for now the best thing for rebels is to negotiate. They politically would be able to solve the problem.”

Someone said “Peace is not always a answer. It is too naive”

But I want to say “Do you see the victims?” “How much do you really know about them?” In fact, I want to get rid of people who didn’t even bat an eyelash for many casualties. It is so terrible.

I want Syria peace talks. Not for politicians, for the victims.
