PyeongChang 2018 Olympic : Keyword is Peace

The PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games will be held in February next year. This video above is made for public relations. Its concept is highly acclaimed at home and abroad. It started from background that ‘AIs were defeated after a 10-year battle with humans’. Heroine main character is the last AI left in this world. Her name is ‘K 2018020925’. What does she do? She studied deeply ‘why humans won‘. What does she find? Emotion! Passion, sadness, joy, love. All of these appeared at a time in the feast, ごちそう, fiesta, 잔치(Janchi). They make the connection between the Seoul 1988 Olympics, the 2002 World Cup and 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics. The meaning is that Korea gave thanks to nations who helped Korea and this peaceful janchi united all into one. The keyword is ‘Peace‘.

Desire for peace : Two big events

The last A.I. said ‘Why could AI not surpass humans?’ Now the core of PR video is coming out. ‘Was it not a desire for peace?’ In my opinion, there must be some reason. There are at least two things that I know. First, on December, 2016, 1.7 million people gathered in Candlelight rally, Seoul. Nationwide total is 2,320,000 people. It reminded me of William Shakespeare’s one quote that “How far that little candle throws his beams!”. The world was surprised by peaceful assembly culture and mature civic consciousness. People say “Don’t hit anyone even by flowers” The video said ‘The candle of peace lit has been carried over to the PyeongChang Olympic Torch and conveyed all over the world.’ I really love this sentence. Here is my posting.

Why War? HWPL’s Solutions

Second, 2017 3rd World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (WARP) Summit was held by HWPL in Seoul, Korea. It is a annual event for peace. Each year, influential people from all around the world meet in South Korea.

HWPL was acknowledged for substantial and practical way to achieve peace. I am very proud of these Koreans. Their slogan is “Together for peace as messengers of peace” Why could human not cease war? The solutions of HWPL are ‘Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War(DPCW)’ and ‘The World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (WARP) Office’.

Now ‘Legislate peace campaign’ is carried out. Since then, 705,000 signatures in more than 170 countries. And 117 schools from 8 different countries (as of July 2016) voluntarily became HWPL Peace Academies. In the short three years, the WARP Offices have seen rapid expansion with 218 offices now operating in 126 countries.

Together We Make a Difference

The World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (3rd WARP) Summit, which was first held in 2014, has been held annually in Seoul. Each year, influential people from all around the world meet in South Korea. HWPL was acknowledged for substantial and practical way to achieve peace. Actually, people who come to the Peace Festival are all moving. They can feel ‘Peace waves‘, which also be called ‘the heart of peace’, deep down in the heart. This time, I introduce ‘Peace parade‘ and finale ‘Arirang of Peace‘ performance. The peace parade showed how global peace is being achieved in accordance with the 10 articles and 38 clauses of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War.

Q. You are creating a tank and a unification train. Which part of this should be viewed carefully?

“In the case of the tank, a key point to take notice of is how the cold and lethal weapons of death are transformed into agricultural tools that help people and give them joy. So, it becomes a world where there are no longer any weapons that kill people. In the case of the unification train, it shows how the unification of Korea, which is the world’s only divided nation, is able to give hope.

This is symbolized by the creation of a unification train which would allow people to go anywhere, not caring whether it is in South or North.”

Q. What inspired you to produce this piece?

“During the proclamation of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War, Chairman Lee of HWPL stated that we must not create weapons that are to be used for war any longer, but instead should transform them into tools that are beneficial for humanity. These ideas have been a great inspiration for my work.

So, the main gun on the top of the tank was replaced with a golden trumpet that would be used to announce the news of peace. As I am aware that Chairman Lee has personally experienced the pain of the Korean War as a veteran, so much inspiration was received through his words and actions.”

Going along with the lyrics of “Arirang of Peace,” it was like seeing the blueprint of a new era and “entering the new world of peace” that is without war and terrorism.

Q. With what kind of heart did you prepare for this performance?

“I had many thoughts about what kind of heart I should be preparing for this performance with if things became hard or difficult. However, as I watched my teammates and everyone, including myself, preparing for the performance for the sake of peace and not for personal gain or pleasure, my heart became ever more eager for peace and I worked even harder while practicing.”

Q. Can you please introduce the performance that we will see from this Arirang Team?

“Our performance is a concert called Arirang Fantasy of Peace. It is a performance that expresses the idea of a peace that does not discriminate anyone, even though nationality, race, culture and religion may all be different. It brings together a traditional Korean song with traditional instruments, dances martial arts and other elements showing a harmonized global village full of excitement. This concert is a peace festival that represents the global village that will live in harmony and create peace.

It is during the performance of Ganggangsullae(강강술래), a traditional Korean dance, in the Arirang of Peace where one of our team members steps across the connected backs and shoulders of the others. This clearly demonstrates how a beautiful reality of peace is achieved through the combined sacrifice and effort of everyone involved.

Therefore, during practices not even one person could think selfishly, but instead had to willingly lend their back and shoulders. So, we carefully practiced with the mindset that I myself must hold hands and create peace along with everyone else.”

Political, social, and religious leaders as well as experts from youth and women’s organizations, civil society actors and the press gathered to discuss practical ways of achieving peace. Also at the stadium, the peace festival is held! IPYG’s card-section performance, a peace parade, various art performances, and speeches were proceeded. Substantial results of HWPL are supported by a large number of planning team members and volunteers.

Q. What purpose and content did you plan in thins card performance?
“The reunification of the Korean peninsula was also a subject of this year’s event, which was held for the cessation of war and world peace. So, I planned a card performance containing this message in order for all guests watching to feel how much the people of Korea desire unification and world peace through this card section.”

Q. What kind of hear are you working with?
“Many people from overseas come to attend this event, and their impressions of, and tears shed for, our performances are very exciting and moving for us. I’m truly grateful to be doing this work because the guests who watched the performance returned to their home countries boasting about our performance. It makes me think that I am doing the most valuable work in my life by delivering this message of peace.”

Peace education : Blooming Flowers of Cessation of War in Fiji

What a beautiful peace day!

In Fiji, the hibiscus is blooming at children’s hands. The hibiscus is the national flower of Fiji. Fiji is an island country in Melanesia. Fiji’s main attractions to tourists are white sandy beaches and aesthetically pleasing islands with all-year-round tropical weather. In peace education, children of Fiji stick flowers on the picture of the tank which symbolize war and conflict. Why? They wished for achieving peace in the world. Children don’t know nothing. They know it clearly. Maybe they know it better than us, adults. “Peace is good and war is bad.” Very simple. Maybe, we don’t need other things, social, economic and political issues, complex and chronic problems. We must keep our children’s heart.

“I think peace is having tolerance, respect and love each other. By loving each other and respecting each other we can find how we can stop fighting in the classroom too.” – Salemba, one of the students.

Peace education : DPCW Article 10

It is the reason why children can study peace. Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), an international NGO under the UN ECOSOC and UN DPI, held a peace event “Blooming Flowers of Cessation of War in Fiji” on October 24th at Yat Sen primary school of Suva in Fiji. This lesson really helps children and students understand each other. All of these things is from DPCW, which is an international law to cease the war. Article 10 of DPCW is “Spread a Culture of Peace” Recognizing the global threats posed by nuclear, HWPL International Law Peace Committee suggested the DCPW (Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War) on March 14, 2016.

“This was a step forward to create peace enviroment among students. Teachers, we, have to use positive ways to create or maintain peace environment in the classroom. “We have grown and developed in many ways. More than anything, we have been working advocacy campaigns so that the declaration of world peace and cessation of wars will become legally binding and it will truly bring all wars to an end.

We have been able to produce good results and you will be able to confirm this through the various sessions that had begun today. Our objective is world peace where there are no more wars. Until this objective is achieved, we must all follow the leadership of chairman Lee of HWPL and go forth one direction.

If there is we cannot do, and we don’t do it. That’s not the way it should be. Let us become one heart. And, the objective will surely be achieved.” – representative of IPYG

HWPL Peaceful Day

We have clear way of hope. 10 articles and 38 clauses of declaration of world peace and cessation of war is the answer that has been integrated to all the peace activities. I’m sure that even in the future, there will not be more certain answer for peace. the existing international law is build that minimizes the damages due to wars and had been limited in terms of not being able to prevent wars. However, DPCW is truly an answer for peace that is able to solve full causes of war.

Since the declaration was made, IWPG along with members around the world was holding peace campaign and advocacy campaigns. Continuously along with UN women’s groups. We have been working for implementation of international law.

Just as there is the role of father and the role of mother in a household, there is a point of task given to people for each sector in order to make world peace in reality. In particular, for those who wants peace, being heart of a mother becomes a lifeline that can achieve world peace. The moment the women become into tremendous power possessing is the moment they become mother.

Ordinary people’s ordinary peace

Half of the world population is women. Chairman Lee believes the strength of women. And, we all able to achieve our objective.

If women unite and bring wars to an end, we are able to bring legacy of peace to the future generation. This is true role of women who must take on as mother of this earth. I hope more women participate in an international society and let us gather support for the implementation of international law. All the women are here.

Please, join the advocacy campaigns for the implementation of international law. So we don’t have to be embarrassed to hold the tile of a mother. We have the strength to lead all mankind to world peace. Let us all achieve peace together. And leave world peace as a legacy for the future generations.

Doing good better : Apply to Peace Movement

It is a book of altruism. Have you ever think about good will? Sometimes I want the world to change better, don’t you? If so, I take an example. One man want to do something for children of the Third World countries. He get great ideas! ‘A wheel pump‘ He imagine children romping with water. This project received worldwide attention. It raises large sums of money. They can supply lot of wheel pumps to the Third World countries. So, what happened? Doing good better?

It is really uncomfortable

Many international organizations point out the flaw and families of the Third World complained. It is very ineffective than hand pump. The project suddenly went to smash. Although efforts are great, It’s a big waste of time and money.

Effective Altruism can change the world

A practical, data-driven approach to doing good makes a tremendous difference. Not only charity, It can apply to peace movements. This book throw a question. “How can I make the biggest difference I can?” Like this question, if you cry out peace, all peace movements are not effective and practical. We should measure this impact accurately. There is an peace movement that is highly acclaimed at home and abroad. HWPL‘s peace movements are very practical and substantive. DPCW(Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War) is already declared. Now, presidents only have to sign up. Or come up with something better.

Now the world today, we need to make sure that we establish world peace without war. So we can leave that world peace to the generations afterwards.

We were traveling around different places around the world. This work of peace was spoken up everywhere we went to, going to colleges and doing the work of peace even in Mindanao. There was also political leaders in Mindanao who came and met me also in Manila to ask to do this work of peace.

The earth is so vast and so big. Up to today, there wasn’t an answer for the work of peace thou. Furthermore, the only grew was the weapons of that massive destruction. So, this is why we as a family of this world and peace former and current presidents, law enforcement, regular citizen and religious leaders made an agreement in front of gate of peace came to 3rd WARP Summit in order to achieve peace and declare international law. this is very implementation.

We’ve called heaven and earth as witnesses to WARP Summit. In front of God and people in the world, we made an agreement to declare international law and unite religions. Also, the heads of organizations from each country made an agreement to urge implementation.

10 articles and 38 clauses has to cease wars across the globe and make peace. If you think these articles cannot make cessation of war, you must have alternative. If not, it has to be implemented right away.

People who raise the children must not lie.

We sent this declaration to all different countries saying if we do this way, there will be cessation of war. There could be peace said out of accomplish. What other reason do we need?

If this document is approved and okayed, within UN and general assembly, they probably vote on it. And when they vote on it, 1/3 of them are okayed, it can be adopted.

Immediately and very quickly, we have to work on for every nation and leader to sign up international law to implement and the declaration of 10 articles and 38 clauses. We all need to work together. While everybody else is working bled out, and you are being selfish, Is this equitable? It’s not somebody’s personal matter. No matter what, regardless knowledge and power, the urgent matter is cessation of war and world peace. If we hand down peaceful world without wars to our future generations, that would be the best present for them. So distinguished guests, you already have an answer. What day is today? You seems to be in a good mood today, aren’t you? It is the reason that Today is not an ordinary day. I feel a little better today, me too. The reason why we are happy is quite clear. Unprecedented event is happening now. 3rd WARP Summit 2017 spread out right here in Korea. I am so glad I think my heart will burst out.
