On August 23, HWPL hosted the Indonesia Media Forum under the theme “Freedom of the Press and Reporting for Peace.” The 90-minute session gathered journalists and editors from nine major Indonesian media outlets.

The forum began with a peace documentary preview produced by HWPL’s Philippine branch, followed by small-group discussions on how media can become agents of peace in the digital information age. Participants emphasized that journalism should go beyond simple reporting to shape narratives that promote peace, cooperation, and social responsibility. 🌍💡

HWPL also introduced the concept of Peace Journalism, linking it to Article 10 of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW), which highlights freedom of the press as part of sustaining a culture of peace.

The forum concluded with plans to expand cooperation with Indonesian media, counter misinformation, and develop training programs that equip reporters to write stories that unite rather than divide. HWPL’s Indonesia branch also announced regular peace media forums aligned with its global peace anniversaries on March 14, May 25, and September 18. ❤️✨

HWPL launched the “Sign for Her” Global Campaign simultaneously in Korea and Zambia to address menstrual poverty, gender-based violence, and the importance of peace education.

In Zambia, the campaign provided sanitary pads and education to protect the dignity and learning rights of young girls, while in Korea it raised public awareness of menstrual poverty as a human rights issue connected to global peace. By highlighting both education and equality, the campaign strengthened international solidarity and spread HWPL’s vision of peace and human dignity. 💡❤️

A survey in Zambia revealed that 3 out of 5 girls miss school regularly due to lack of menstrual products, often resorting to unsafe alternatives that cause health problems.

To respond, the campaign partnered with Family Development Initiatives (FDI) in Lusaka, where participants learned about reusable pads, menstrual cycles, and self-care based on HWPL’s peace education values.

This initiative not only aimed to reduce school dropouts but also empowered girls to restore confidence and safeguard their future. 🌱✨
