I have mixed feelings. Hmm… I have some pleasant memories and some sad memories. I’m very vulnerable. I have a good time with friends. We had a heart–to–hearttalk about our way. I shedmanytears. Is this sympathy? I’m very vulnerable. But I’ll never give up. Get a grip, girdyourloins, make your case and quit whining.
What is our way?
What kind of person are you? These days, this question was very important to me. What do you think of these days? Iwaswondering.
The way I walk is to pursue ‘Growth‘. Next year, I have many things to want to do. What Iwant is ‘Driving force‘. What I want is ‘Counseling‘. I want to change. I have to change.
What do you think is more important thing for success?
I first think talent is not changed. So I focused on effort. But when compared with other people, It brings me down. So I think there is a problem in my talent. However, I didn’t stop my effort. Sometimes I cried and sometimes I was happy. This is my story.
How about you? 🙂
Grit : the power of passion and perseverance
I will tell you the latest research. Do you know ‘Grit‘?
Let’s see this TED video. Angela Duckworth [Grit : the power of passion and perseverance]
What is the criteria that predicts success ? It wasn’t IQ.
So, what is it? It was Grit. What is Grit?
Angela Duckworth said “Grit is passion and perseverance for very long-term goals. Grit is sticking with your future, day in, day out,not just for the week, not just for the month,but for years,and working really hard to make that future a reality”in TED.
What’s more surprising is the reason why Angela Duckworth started this research. It’s some sad. She always heard of the same thing from her father. “You have no talent!!!” “You have no talent!!!” “You have no talent!!!”
How awful would that be…?
‘Growth mindset‘
How could we build Grit?
Angela Duckworth suggests that ‘Growth mindset‘ is a one of best ideas. This is an idea developed at Stanford University by Carol Dweck. It is the belief that the ability to learn is not fixed, so you can change with your effort.
Let’s see a Video. Carol Dweck, “Developing a Growth Mindset”
Do you want to succeed?
First I ask you. What does ‘Success’ mean to you?
Success is exciting. Me too. So, we would have to make an effort. Just trying hard?
Deliberate practice
[Peak: Secrets from the New Science of Expertise] is a book of K. Anders Ericsson. He said “Not just trying hard, important thing is a deliberate practice“.
The keyword are Grit, Growth mindset and Deliberate practice. I wish I can help your future. 🙂 See you later.
Do you know about ‘Daring Greatly : How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead’? It was written by Brene Brown.
If you haven’t read it, I highly recommend that you see this video.
[TED] Brene Brown: The power of vulnerability
This is a video about shame that I am interested in these days.
Let’s talk about Brene Brown’s research.
She first started to research about ‘Connection’. Why? If you studied social welfare for 10 years, We all comes down to ‘Connection’ in the end.
If people are asked about ‘Connection’, what people said? People talk about ‘Disconnection’. Shame is a fear of disconnection. Here comes shame.
Brene Brown studied about shame for 6 years. She divide people into two classes. There are the people who have a strong sense of love and belonging and the people who really struggle for it. They believe they’re worthy. It is a key point. But It is very hard for me. So I’m interested in ‘Shame’. You know why?
She named people who believe they’re worthy as ‘Whole-hearted’. She find out about the difference deeply. The research is going on, so.
But Vulnerability and Shame is more important than I thought. Vulnerability is a key point for personal relationships. Also, the company is where people gather. Vulnerability can change one’s life forever. Likewise, vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity and change. So it is popular.
Do you know Covert narcissism?
These people look very kind and humble. But in inner side, they are no different from Overt narcissism that we usually call Narcissism. But they are very shy. Why? Covert narcissism is deeply related with ‘Shame’. These days, I think my problem is related with covert narcissism. Here comes shame. I feel something connected.
Get back to Brene Brown. She find out relationship between shame and guilty. Shame is a focus on self, guilt is a focus on behavior. Shame is “I am bad.” Guilt is “I did something bad.“
Erikson‘s Stages of Development.
Do you know where these concepts are used? It’s a Erikson‘s Stages of Development.
In early childhood(1-3 years), There are conflict between ‘Autonomy’ and ‘Shame’.
In play age(3-6 years), There are conflict between ‘Initiative’ and ‘Guilt’.
If you don’t develop in during this each time, you will experiences these problems.
Here was my research.
I will be more fully thinking.
I’m determined to change me. I hope you walking down your path.
“Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
It is in dying to self that we are born to eternal life.”
This peace prayer makes me solemn. This makes me feel abashed to my life.
Saint Francis of Assisi(1182~1226)
He was born into a rich family. He left behind all money and lived in poverty.
When he was 20 years old, he was held captive for one year. That incident had a big impact on his life. He took no pleasure in his secular life any more.
Church of St. Francis of Assisi is famous for tourist destination.
Have you heard of the famous anecdote about this ‘peace prayer’?
One evening there was someone knocking the door of the Saint Francis. A tough leprosy patient was standing out. He is so cold so he entreat Francis to get warm in the room for a moment.
Hetook leprosy patient bythehandtoleadhimintotheroom. Then the patient want to have a dinner again. The two ate dinner together.
Late into the night, the patient is too cold. So the patient asked again the Francis to melt him in the nude. He make him warm.
When Saint Francis woke up in the next day, The patient was an illusion. Francis was aware of God. And he gave ‘peace prayer‘ toGod.
António Guterres emphasized that The end of the Syria civil war is more urgent than any other issue. Also He shouted ‘The United Nations should be changed.’
“Our most serious shortcoming — and here I refer to the entire international community – is our inability to prevent crises.”
“The United Nations system has not yet done enough to prevent and respond to the appalling crimes of sexual violence and exploitation committed under the UN flag against those we are supposed to protect.”
“We want the world our children inherit to be defined by the values enshrined in the United Nations Charter: peace, justice, respect, human rights, tolerance and solidarity. All major religions embrace these principles, and we strive to reflect them in our daily lives.” – Inaugural address(12 DECEMBER 2016)
After inaugural address, he said in interview that It’s time to finish a crazy things happening in Syria civil war. He added There are no winners and all losers in the Syria civil war. Even if there are divergence of opinion and disagreements between the United Nations member states, There is something more valuable. The value of Syria peace is necessary to us all. Guterres hoped that everyone will be acceptable to Syria peace.
In fact in Aleppo on where the most fierce battle is going, the government took control of region that rebels seized more than 90 per cent.
The current UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon express deep regret at news that a lot of civilians are massacred in Aleppo.
Whosefault?
what do we have to do?
Who is responsible?
I hope that Syria peace will come. I want to see Syira baby’s smile.
Syrian civil lasted for six years. Western delegates called on both government troops and rebels to resume Syria peace talks on December 10.
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry censure Syria government for indiscriminate attacks. “Indiscriminate attacks are war crimes and crimes against humanity in Aleppo”. He confirmed “Today through two time dialogue, Assad would be willing to participate in negotiations with rebels.” John Kerry said “Syrian President Bashar al-Assadis open to Syria peace talks”.
At this meeting, Syrian rebel leader also attended.
Enter the negotiations unconditionally
Western delegates urged ‘Syrian government and rebels must enter the negotiations unconditionally’. But The rebels said they would not start negotiations if discussing Mr. Assad’s resignation is placed as a precondition.
2016 April, rebels and government representatives held the Syria peace talks in Geneva. But Assad’s position didn’t even get a mention at all. So, The negotiations broke down.
Secretary Kerry said “As losing the hub of Aleppo, for now the best thing for rebels is to negotiate. They politically would be able to solve the problem.”
Someone said “Peace is not always a answer. It is too naive”
But I want to say “Do you see the victims?” “How much do you reallyknow about them?” In fact, I want to get rid of people who didn’t even bat an eyelash for many casualties. It is so terrible.
I want Syria peace talks. Not for politicians, for the victims.
Look at this documentary and feel how it terrible.

“The death of a child refugee. Then after a year, Not remain in our minds”
It is first anniversary of a child refugee’s Death. Do you remember ‘Alan Kurdi’?
He is a child refugee. Last year he became enormously famous. Because he appeared dead on the beach. While trying to go to Europe to avoid civil war, his mother(35) and his brother(5) were drowned. Then all the world wanted to help the refugees.
His father said “Then after a year, that movement is all gone.”
What did you feel?
What did you do?
How is your plan going now?
He pointed out that “People are still dying in the Mediterranean, and dangerous boats with illegal refugees continue.”
He appealed “I hope the world leaders to stop a Syria civil war as soon as possible.”
The Mediterranean is the fuss now. Thousands of people were overthrown, and Thousands of people were rescued. But all do not get involved this problem.
Now there has been a lot of talk about the Colombian civil war.
Whatwenowhave,is the Syria civil war
I want to end war. 🙂 Refugee is our friend.
His father said “I don’t know what I’m doing and I don’t know why I’m still alive”
No one ever expected that so many people came together. Everyone think “citizens are tired in candlelight rally that lasted for a long time.” This is the sixth Candlelight vigils. But huge crowds pourinto nationwide. Candlelight vigils is being held in 70 places of the country. 200,000 in Busan. 100,000 in Gwanju. 50,000 in Daejeon.

PEACE CULTURE
Even though so many people came together, Non-violent culture is still. Any one is not taken to the police. They march in 100 m front of Cheong Wa Dae. It is the shortest distance until now. This peaceful protest is unprecedented in world history.
Many amazing things happened. When one citizen suddenly collapsed, police officers hand over hot packs. Wow.
Second, one citizen threw flowers for peace performance.Then, people say “Don’t hit by flowers” I was impressed.
And there were citizens to putflower stickerson police car.
Also foreign interests is hot. They expressed surprise in particular about orderly and peaceful assembly culture.
