Hi, I’m Ming Taylor. I am 26 years old and live in Sydney. I came from Korea to study abroad, and I’m a medical student.

But I didn’t write much about medicine. lol
It’s not that I’m not interested at all, but I was a little lost because I had a shocking incident when I was 20. This is when I decide to become a real doctor, not just a doctor. I’ll tell you later.

Then, I have a one question. What more do I know when I make a lover, and can I really say I know about him or her? It’s so difficult. keep thinking!

5 Keywords to explain me
  1. My 11 Notes
  2. International Organization
  3. UN & Peace

  5. Single Startup Company

1. “My 11 Notes”

: In a word, I’m currently writing my 11th notes with all the things that inspire me. It doesn’t matter. I write everything like books, people, YouTube videos, lectures, ideas that I find while taking a walk. It is the most precious treasure of my life.

I started keeping a diary when I was 19 years old. Korea is a country with a very high passion for education. Especially, I was on the top class of the students like the drama “Sky Castle,” which is about students competing fiercely to enter Korea’s top medical school. I had to study 15 hours a day from 13 to 19. What was needed most at this time was mental management. This is when I began to write down.

The most recent writings are “The Great Learning, The Doctrine of the Mean, Confucian Analects, The Works of Mencius,” and “The Story of Art” of Ernst Gombrich. There are still seven books borrowed from the library. 🙂

2. “International Organization”

: I intend to become a doctor and work for an international organization. I’m also planning to have a master’s degree in public health, which is a must, and I want to work in places like Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) or WHO. Why?

When I was young, I thought I could help many people as a doctor. However, while attending medical school in Korea at the age of 20, all of the fantasies were shattered. I got lost, I lived without a destination.

I’m sure there are many good doctors, but the doctors I met were busy spending money and obscene. My values were shocking. Since then, I think I’ve been looking for more and more. Among them, I was influenced a lot by Dr. Lee Guk-jong. He told us that we should leave Korea. Please search for more details. There is a sad story.

I don’t know what projects I’ll be in charge of at the international organization, but for now, I’ve set the direction like this.

3. “UN & Peace”

: I love the United Nations and the value of peace. It is not just about fighting with guns. I am saying the answer that can solve all the problems.

Being interested in international organizations, I naturally became curious about the situation in the world. There were so many problems in the world. I think the problems of slavery and human rights have been resolved to some extent. But there’s still a long way to go.

This can be seen from just a glance at history. Human history is closer to the history of war than to peace. In 1945, World War II was over. At this time, the United Nations was founded to maintain international peace and security. The more I know about the United Nations, the more I’ve fallen for its charm. Of course, there are many criticisms. I was impressed with the purpose and meaning.

Especially, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030 are so lovely. It is a collection of 17 global goals designed to be a “blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all”. Among them, the most fundamental thing I think is “peace.”

So, my favorite quote is “There is no path to peace. Peace is the path” by Mahatma Gandhi.

4. “Artistic Sense”

: I have a good sense of design, video production, script writing, and music. I’m not just an expert, but I know how it feels. Since I’m not a genius, I try to develop my senses. I often surf the “Behance” or “Pinterest,” a paradise for artists. I am interested in many things because I have to see and hear many things deeply.

I like Netflix, movies, dramas, and pop music. Recently, my favorite person is “Billie Eilish,” a american singer-songwriter. Her voice and dance are so attractive. I’ll bring the first video I fell in love with.

I already became her fan in 00:35 of this video. ahahaa yeahhh
I think each of these will help me a lot when I do a project later or when I plan a campaign, so I am trying hard now. Ah, I also like emotional cafes.

5. “Single Startup Company”

: It has two meanings. The first thing I mean is to run a non-profit startup after I become a doctor. The second means that I will be the CEO of my life and run myself.

I’d like to get a bunch of talented people together and do something big. Something that will surprise the world. To do that, I think I need to live my own life first. Not just talking and useless knowledge learned at school, I really needs real ability. I’m also trying to take a lecture at MOOC like Coursera, edX and MIT OCW.

There are so many things to learn and do in the world! I hope to be the main character of this rapidly changing era. 🙂

I think I introduced myself too long. Well… it’s over anyway! Bye~

HWPL Peace Education in Ethiopia

Is Ethiopia peaceful?

Compared with many African countries, Ethiopia is remarkably safe – most of the time. Serious or violent crime is rare; against travellers it’s extremely rare. Outside the capital, the risk of petty crime drops still further. The new Prime Minister was Abiy Ahmed, 2019 Nobel Peace Prize Winner, who made a historic visit to Eritrea in 2018, ending the state of conflict between the countries.

Ethiopia is a melting pot country, enriched in diverse cultures, peoples, and religions. However, such diversity sparked many conflicts in history, some of which are ongoing. These conflicts have stripped the country and people apart emotionally, and the Ethiopian government is actively working to peacefully resolve them for the better future of the country.

In December, the professors and students at Kotebe Metropolitan University participated at the ‘Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) Peace Education’ sessions which are also joined by 214 schools in 36 countries.

To bring the peaceful reconciliation in the country, the Ministry of Education in Ethiopia and 9 other states had previously signed MOA with HWPL to implement HWPL’s Peace Education. The curriculum is designed to empower citizens to properly recognize the value of peace and take the pioneering role of spreading the culture of peace.

After signing MOA with HWPL, the Ministry of Higher Education in Ethiopia is currently reviewing the ‘HWPL Peace Education’ to incorporate and implement it as formal curriculum in all the universities. Addis Ababa School of Science and Technology (AASTU) also held the peace education sessions right after the Kotebe Metropolitan University.

A student who participated at the peace education said, “I learned why peace education is important for resolving conflicts in Ethiopia. It taught me to act as a messenger of peace. It is also important to present 10 Articles and 38 Clauses of the DPCW to the UN to fundamentally eradicate war and conflicts. To this end, we must continue to participate in peace education.”

Mali Parliament seeks a Path to Peace

Malian President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita recently said that his government was ready to hold talks with the main jihadist leaders in the country. (VoA)

“Why not try to contact those who we know are pulling the strings,” Keita told French media last week. “The number of deaths in the Sahel is becoming exponential. It’s time for certain avenues to be explored.”

The United Nations reported that the number of children killed in the conflict in the first six months of 2019 was twice as many for the entire year of 2018. Many of the children have been killed in inter communal attacks attributed to ethnic militias, with the majority of attacks occurring around Mopti.

A day ago, at least three Mali soldiers were killed and five wounded Sunday in a suspected jihadist attack. Also, other recent conflicts in West Africa caused several casualties.

Since this is a place where people know the importance of peace, there are also many people who seek the path to peace.

At the Mali parliament, 25 congressmen and 4 national executive officials gathered for the proclamation ceremony for the ‘Network of Parliamentarians for the Culture of Peace and the Cessation of Wars’. This meeting, held on December 21, 2019, was held to discuss spreading the culture of peace, eliminating unnecessary sacrifices caused by internal conflict and terrorism in Mali.

Aurora Celestin, the representative of HWPL France Branch, introduced the Global Declaration of Peace and Cessation of war (DPCW) as a solution to Mali’s existing conflict and poverty. As a result, the congressmen stressed that “DPCW is a legal document that is much needed in Mali” and that “the president, senior government officials and other congressmen will actively implement the contents of the DPCW in their country.”

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE Mali Parliament seeks a Path to Peace United Nations Manheelee Man Hee Lee biography Malian President Mali Parliament Mali conflicts Mali attacks jihadist Ibrahim Boubacar Keita HWPL DPCW

Especially, Diarra Moussa, a member of the Parliament and the Presider of the meeting said, “Many are working for peace in Mali and there are many laws. However, implementation of the law had always been the problem. Therefore, there needs to be a solution like the DPCW to spread the culture of peace where people start to abide by the laws.”

Kane Babba Hama Sidy, a member of the Mali Parliament, who signed the DPCW Support Letter said, “It is the right time to establish this network, bearing in mind the current situation of Mali. It is time to work for peace,” emphasizing the act of spreading the culture of peace through DPCW.

If we try, we will surely be able to achieve the answer.
We can do it. We’ll make it.

Letters to Me #11 : Trust & Faith

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE Letters to Me #11 : Trust & Faith trust successful man Self reflection Letters to Me Growth mindset faith

It’s been a long time since I’ve sent me a letter. I may not have had that much leeway. Sometimes I live very hard, sometimes I’m exhausted after a lot of work. I used to look back on myself a lot in the past, but I rarely look back these days.

I think it’s an excuse that I didn’t have time. I could have taken the time to do enough. What was the reason? Maybe I’ve lost my “hopes” for myself. I don’t know if I chose the right word. I can call it “expectation”, or “faith”.

I think it’s much harder to apply “growth mindset” than when I read a book. I always want to grow up. I want to work harder and do well. think and try to excel. However, trying is a different matter from actually doing so.

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE Letters to Me #11 : Trust & Faith trust successful man Self reflection Letters to Me Growth mindset faith

I think I’m having a hard time because I’m not as successful as I think. This is the question of “what is success?” My reference point seems to be too external. If there is something I regret now, I wonder if I could have trusted me more. What if I had respected myself a little more, loved and cared for myself? It may be an illusion, but my inner self would have been more colorful.

Reading poetry, opening your eyes to art, listening to my own playlist, will this make me a little happier? Each man walks his own way. How was your life? Was it a roller coaster? Was it okay? or fun? I don’t think I can assess my life. Because I want to edit my own life as I please. That’s why I don’t feel proud.

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE Letters to Me #11 : Trust & Faith trust successful man Self reflection Letters to Me Growth mindset faith

Do you think it’s because I don’t know myself well? So the majority of successful people may be keeping a diary and meditating. For me, this is that time to self-reflect. I think I should write it more often now.

“If you are here with us, it will not only be of great help, but will be remembered forever as a person who has left true peace to posterity.”

Former Ethiopian Transport Minister Mekuria Haley, who attended the 2020 New Year’s party, said, “I’m sure that world peace will be achieved if everyone from all over the world, from adults to children, will love peace.”

“HWPL is already doing this all over the world,” he said. “I will also go back to my homeland and pursue a plaza of dialogue and a WARP office for religious people that HWPL is pushing, and make efforts to bring the DPCW to international law.”

The 1st Burundi Peace Education Seminar

Facts about Burundi

Burundi is blessed with an abundance of tea and coffee plantations. But this country is struggling to emerge from a 12-year, ethnic-based civil war. Since independence in 1962 it has been plagued by tension between the usually-dominant Tutsi minority and the Hutu majority.

Is there any movement for peace?

Ivory Coast and Mali HWPL Peace Camps

The ‘HWPL Peace Camp’ was held at seven elementary schools in Ivory Coast and Mali from December 9th to the 23rd of last year. The message of ‘Peace and Safety, Respect and Cooperation’ from Peace Camp was significant since both neighboring countries in the Sahel region of West Africa suffered conflicts between French military and Islamic extremism in the same month.

The first five-day activities in Ivory Coast made local educators feel the need for peace-education. Allou Fatimata Marie Christ, Director of the Sainte Marie High School in Abidjan, who attended the Peace Camp, emphasized the role of peace-education as she expressed, “To live in this world as a human being, it is important to learn about peace because we must create a peaceful world.”

In addition, the UNESCO National Committee of the Ivory Coast immediately organized a meeting between UNESCO officials and educators, as the educators felt that the importance and necessity of peace-education should be understood. The MOU on peace-education with HWPL, which was discussed prior to the meeting, enabled the establishment of a cooperative relationship.

In the meantime, peace camps will be held at four schools in Mali until the 23rd. The government held a meeting with education officials to discuss the future peace-education plan of Mali and to conduct peace-education through mutual cooperation. Students have had time to learn peace by practicing peace on their own, and peace-education will continue to be implemented based on schools’ responses about the hope and need for peace-education.

Oscars 2020: Parasite changes Everything l Bong Joon Ho

South Korean film Parasite has been named best picture at this year’s Oscars, becoming the first non-English language film to take the top prize. – BBC

Only 11 non-English language films have ever been nominated in the category. The cast and creative team for “Parasite” took the stage on Sunday to accept the award for best picture, capping off what was a huge night for the film and a significant night for global cinema. – CNN

On Monday, the director Bong Joon Ho’s “Parasite,” a genre-defying film about class warfare, won that award and three other Oscars, including best director. It was a historic moment for both the Oscars and South Koreans
– NY times

The Korean people were all really happy and excited. I can’t believe it!

Bong Joon Ho, Oscars Best Director

In his acceptance speech of Best Director, he said “Thank you. After winning best international feature, I thought I was done for the day and was ready to relax.

Thank you so much. When I was young and studying cinema, there was a saying that I carved deep into my heart, which is that ‘The most personal is the most creative.’

That quote is from our great Martin Scorsese. When I was in school, I studied Martin Scorsese’s films. Just to be nominated was a huge honor. I never thought I would win.

When people in the U.S. were not familiar with my films, Quentin [Tarantino] always put my films on his list. He’s here, thank you so much. Quentin, I love you.

And Todd [Phillips] and Sam [Mendes], great directors that I admire. If the Academy allows, I would like to get a Texas chainsaw, split the award into five and share it with all of you.

Thank you. I will drink until next morning, thank you.”

Producer Kwak Sin-ae also said: “I’m speechless. We never imagined this to happen. I feel like a very opportune moment in history is happening right now.

What’s the difference? Why did this happen?

I watched a parasite movie myself and even wrote reviews, but I couldn’t really feel the difference. I think, “Is this enough to attract global attention and awards?”

From my point of view, I saw nothing but the contrast between the life of the rich and the lower class, the detailed elements hidden in it and some interesting parts. I’m trying to figure out which part of parasite has won so many awards. I will post a more analytical posting next time.

Ah, and Congratulations. Director Bong Joon Ho!

1st IPYG Youth Peace Empowerment in South Sudan

What’s happening in South Sudan?

South Sudan gained independence from the Republic of the Sudan in 2011. (98.83% support) Its capital and largest city is Juba. But it has suffered ethnic violence and endured a civil war since 2013. Also, 6.9 million people are experiencing hunger. It is about two thirds of the population, 12 million. South Sudan has the third largest refugee (3.7 million) crisis, after Syria and Afghanistan. (if you want to know more stastistics)

There is good news, too. On September 2018, South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir signed a peace deal with main rebel leader Riek Machar formally ending a five-year civil war. Although the conflict has been resolved to some extent, it is still uneasy because it has been violated and moves toward peace.

I would like to introduce young men who move for peace.

‘The 1st IPYG Youth Peace Empowerment Project’ was held on December 16th at office of Junub Open Space in Juba, South Sudan. It was hosted by International Peace Youth Group(IPYG) and Junub Open Space(JunubOS).

The IPYG Youth Peace Empowerment Project composed of 11 chapters provides an opportunity for students and young people to learn the values such as harmony and co-existence through agriculture where the law of nature is being explored and is closely related to the daily lives of African youths. They would be nurtured as ‘Messenger of peace’ who can lead in the forefront for world peace through various experimental and research activities.

Also IPYG Youth Peace Empowerment Project shares the same vision with the UN SDGs, especially Goal 4 ‘Quality Education’. The project was designed to teach basic agricultural and historical knowledge to students and young people who are excluded from formal educational institutions.

IPYG aims to conduct the project at five schools in South Sudan this year. Furthermore, it is in the process of making educational material to implement the project in all African country.
