AYLCI, a youth leadership organization based in Georgia and a member of IPYG, partnered with IPYG to launch youth-led peace initiatives in the Atlanta area. Through projects like “Play4Peace ATL,” young people shared real-life conflict experiences, learned how to communicate with public officials, and practiced writing policy proposals for peace.

Their efforts led several cities and counties to officially support peace culture and declare local “Weekend of Peace” events. This collaboration was recognized as a new youth peace leadership model that combines peace education, civic engagement, and leadership development, showing how young people can take an active role in building peace in their communities.

Romania, Timor-Leste & Côte d’Ivoire: Youth Building Peace

Young people from Romania, Timor-Leste, and Côte d’Ivoire are showing how culture, sports, and shared dialogue can create real pathways to peace 🌍✨

🔑 Key Highlights

  • Romanian youth leaders visited Korea to strengthen global peace collaboration
  • Cultural exchange and policy discussions deepened mutual understanding
  • Timor-Leste’s Peace Futsal Cup united universities through sports and teamwork

A youth delegation from Romania’s global peace network MasterPeace visited Korea to expand cooperation with HWPL and its youth wing IPYG. This trip followed earlier online exchanges, and it helped both sides explore long-term collaboration.

During the five-day visit, the group traveled through Seoul and Incheon, where they experienced Korea’s cultural heritage and youth activities. They visited places such as the traditional palace area and cultural villages, which helped them understand how history and culture support peaceful living 🌱✨

In addition, Korean and Romanian youth held a cultural dialogue session at a local university. They openly discussed peace, cultural identity, and how young people can influence social change. The conversation helped them see both similarities and differences in their everyday lives, fostering deeper mutual respect.

During a workshop with IPYG, participants analyzed social conditions that shape peace efforts in Romania—such as media climate, civic awareness, and government policies. This helped them design practical ideas for future cooperation.

As a result of this exchange, both organizations proposed a new collaboration model called YEPW (Youth Engagement & Peacebuilding Working Group). This framework aims to build a stronger international youth peace network. The Romanian team also noted that the trip opened opportunities to connect with youth groups beyond Europe, including potential cooperation with Moldova.

The program became a meaningful example of how cultural connection can naturally lead to peacebuilding ❤️🌍

🌟 2. Timor-Leste Youth Build Unity Through the Peace Futsal Cup

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE Romania, Timor-Leste & Côte d’Ivoire: Youth Building Peace 이만희 평화실화 TimorLestePeaceCup RomaniaKoreaPeaceExchange Manheelee man hee lee true story of peace HWPLInternationalPeace GlobalYouthPeaceNetwork CoteDIvoirePeaceCelebration

Meanwhile, in Timor-Leste, young people gathered for the 2025 HWPL Peace Futsal Cup, held at the end of May. Eight university teams joined the tournament, turning the event into a celebration of friendship and teamwork.

What made this event especially inspiring was that everything—from the venue to the referees—was offered voluntarily. Local leaders provided the stadium free of charge, while national federation referees supported the games as volunteers. As a result, the cup became a symbol of community-driven peacebuilding.

Since Timor-Leste has no official inter-university futsal league, students often lack opportunities to interact across schools. The Peace Futsal Cup helped solve this issue by creating a shared space where young people could meet, compete, and connect beyond their own campuses.

The tournament also built momentum for a stronger youth network. Players shared values of peace, friendship, and unity—both on and off the field. Many expressed hope that more peace-themed sports events would continue in the future.

HWPL announced plans to expand these sports-based peace programs across the country, helping peace become a natural part of youth culture ✨🌱

🌟 3. Côte d’Ivoire Celebrates the 11th Anniversary of a Global Peace Movement

In late September, residents of Duekoue in Côte d’Ivoire gathered to commemorate the 11th anniversary of a global peace assembly hosted by HWPL. The event emphasized the importance of unity, social harmony, and community action.

Speakers encouraged residents to overcome old divisions and build a peaceful city together. They highlighted how ethnic, religious, and political differences can lead to tension—and how shared commitment can reverse that pattern.

The event aligned with similar commemorations held in 170 countries, showing the worldwide reach of this peace initiative. The theme, “Unity for Peace, Humanity’s Shared Mission,” reminded participants that peace requires everyone’s effort.

Community leaders, traditional authorities, youth groups, and local organizations joined the event and formally expressed their commitment to peace. This moment symbolized a new chapter for coexistence and long-term reconciliation.

The gathering demonstrated how local communities can take concrete steps toward a more peaceful future, even in places that have experienced conflict in the past ❤️✨

🌟 4. A Growing Global Movement Led by Youth and Communities

Across Romania, Timor-Leste, and Côte d’Ivoire, one message stands out clearly: peace grows strongest when people participate voluntarily and locally.

  • Cultural exchange builds empathy
  • Sports strengthen unity and friendship
  • Community gatherings inspire collective action

Together, these activities form a global network of young people and local leaders who believe peace is not just an idea—but a daily practice. And as more communities join, these efforts continue shaping a safer, more harmonious world 🌍🌟

In the heart of Germany, the city of Essen once symbolized industry and war. Known for its steel and weapons production during the 19th century, it suffered massive destruction in World War II. Today, it is writing a new story — one of peace and unity.

On May 24, 2025, HWPL’s Essen branch held a grand Peace Walk at Essen City Hall Square to celebrate the 12th Anniversary of the Declaration of World Peace. Youth and citizens from various backgrounds joined, singing songs of peace as they walked through the streets.

The event began with a heartfelt letter from HWPL’s Chairman, urging everyone to become witnesses of peace. His message reminded participants that achieving peace is the mission of our generation — a duty to ensure future generations live without war.

After the walk, participants left colorful handprints on a “Peace Tree,” symbolizing hope and unity. A student from Ruhr University shared, “The Chairman’s message gave me courage. It made me realize peace starts with our actions.”

Across the sea, the same day in Osaka, Japan, more than 400 youth members of HWPL’s Kobe branch gathered for a vibrant peace walk under the theme, “We Are Peace Workers – Let’s Walk Together.”

Despite unexpected rain, participants handmade “Peace Fans” at Utsubo Park, expressing their wish to cool the world with harmony, not conflict. They then walked a 3-kilometer route through Midosuji Avenue — one of Osaka’s most iconic streets — carrying smiles, banners, and messages of unity.

Local leaders also joined in. A city council member from Osaka noted that he was touched by the young people’s sincerity, saying, “Even in the rain, their hearts were shining with peace.”

Through such activities, HWPL youth in Japan are becoming the messengers of peace culture, spreading awareness in their communities through action rather than words.

In Africa, the call for peace echoed strongly in Yaoundé, Cameroon, where HWPL and its youth division, IPYG, held a peace walk alongside an environmental cleanup.

Coinciding with World Environment Day, this event united local citizens to walk through the city while cleaning streets — turning peace into action. The timing was symbolic, as it followed Cameroon’s National Unity Day, reinforcing the message that peace begins with unity and responsibility.

Participants shared stories of hope. One attendee said, “Seeing everyone walk and smile under the hot sun, I felt that true peace is possible when we walk together.”

The peace walk in Cameroon beautifully linked peacebuilding and sustainability, showing that protecting the earth and building harmony go hand in hand.

HWPL’s 12th anniversary of the Declaration of World Peace wasn’t just a commemoration — it was a movement of hearts. From Essen to Osaka, from Yaoundé to the rest of the world, people are taking real steps to embody peace in daily life.

Through the DPCW initiative, peace walks, and education programs, HWPL continues to connect nations and generations. Each footprint from these events becomes a message — that no matter our language, culture, or background, we all share one dream: a world free of war.

As the Chairman’s message emphasized, peace isn’t a distant ideal. It’s something we must build now, together. Because when “We Are One,” peace is not only possible — it’s inevitable. ✨

The Senate of the Dominican Republic has adopted a resolution supporting the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) ahead of the September 18–19 HWPL World Peace Summit commemoration in Korea.

The chamber praised HWPL’s role in fostering dialogue, reconciliation, and cooperation, while stressing that any application of DPCW principles must fully align with each nation’s constitution, sovereignty, and domestic legal order—and does not automatically create international obligations.

It also urged the government to support the DPCW in international fora and to encourage UN General Assembly consideration as a key instrument for global peace. ✨🌍

The resolution recalls the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the 2001 Inter-American Democratic Charter, affirming peace as a foundation for democracy and human dignity. It recognizes the DPCW as a comprehensive, non-binding framework for peaceful dispute resolution and protection of fundamental rights, consistent with the country’s commitment to peace, democracy, and human rights.

It notes that states may apply DPCW principles to local contexts to build a lasting legacy, and it signals a clear message of support to the international community. The Senate also expressed respect and gratitude to HWPL’s leadership for long-standing, war-ending peace efforts and global outreach. 🌱⭐
