💡 From Families to Communities

Many testimonies highlighted that peace begins at home. A participant from Myanmar shared how peace education changed her from within, teaching her to listen and communicate with her family. Through dialogue, conflicts turned into opportunities for understanding ❤️.

He committed to instilling peace values in thousands of children, making education a foundation for generational change 🌍.

❤️ Women Leading Generational Transformation

Again and again, speakers emphasized that peace education is a force that transforms generations. Women are no longer silent victims of conflict; they are becoming leaders who teach, share, and multiply peace.

One participant beautifully summarized: “Peace begins with me, but it must be lived and shared to transform the world.” Her words captured the heart of the conference—peace is not distant, but alive in our homes, schools, media, and daily lives ✨.

🌍 Conclusion

The Senate of the Dominican Republic has adopted a resolution supporting the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) ahead of the September 18–19 HWPL World Peace Summit commemoration in Korea.

The chamber praised HWPL’s role in fostering dialogue, reconciliation, and cooperation, while stressing that any application of DPCW principles must fully align with each nation’s constitution, sovereignty, and domestic legal order—and does not automatically create international obligations.

It also urged the government to support the DPCW in international fora and to encourage UN General Assembly consideration as a key instrument for global peace. ✨🌍

The resolution recalls the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the 2001 Inter-American Democratic Charter, affirming peace as a foundation for democracy and human dignity. It recognizes the DPCW as a comprehensive, non-binding framework for peaceful dispute resolution and protection of fundamental rights, consistent with the country’s commitment to peace, democracy, and human rights.

It notes that states may apply DPCW principles to local contexts to build a lasting legacy, and it signals a clear message of support to the international community. The Senate also expressed respect and gratitude to HWPL’s leadership for long-standing, war-ending peace efforts and global outreach. 🌱⭐

In June, HWPL held a global online forum called “Schools as Spaces of Peace.” The meeting was supported by UNESCO partner bodies and education NGOs such as CLADE and the Higher Education Center for Sustainable Development. More than 300 participants joined, including teachers, researchers, and civil society leaders. The goal was simple: show how schools can stop violence and grow a culture of peace.

Speakers shared concrete programs and examples. The “Building Peace in Schools” initiative focuses on dialogue, partnership, and safe spaces for students. The “Tatou Kompry” method uses empathy and cooperation to stop bullying and restore dignity. Another project, “Odisea,” brings art, memory, and cultural diversity into the classroom, and already involves thousands of students across 26 countries. These efforts all highlight that schools can be places of healing, not division.

The forum ended with a call to support the “Declaration for the Promotion of a Culture of Peace.” HWPL emphasized that peace is not just a slogan. It requires strong will, trained teachers, and education programs based on respect and human rights. The clear message was this: schools must raise young people who value dialogue, empathy, and nonviolence.
