The War is over at the 918 WARP Summit

Suddenly, the building just fell on us

  • Total death count in Syria : 450,000
  • Death of children : 50,000
  • Syrian child who need help : Over 2,000,000

There are 100,000 children trapped in eastern Aleppo. They account for half of all casualties. This is a generation born into war. Many children are now orphaned and left to survive alone. Over 2 million Syrian children are in desperate need of help, as starvation becomes a weapon of war. (UN, Jan 2016) Syrian children are starving and freezing in the cold. They are desperate for any small amount of food and warmth.

Q “How long have you been without food?” A “Seven days”

Q “How long has Hana (7-month-old) been without milk?”
A “A month. Every 10 days I give her some water and salt.”

Suddenly, the building just fell on us. Oh my god, all my children are gone! I was heartbroken looking at her facial expression. I think I can do something. There must be something. I don’t care if I’m complacent. It would be better to try a little more. I hope we can do something to stop the expected massacres. We can’t just sit still.

Me : “What’s your problem?”
A child : “I want to ask you for something but I feel ashamed.”
Me : “Go a head, say it”

A child : “Uncle, we haven’t eaten for the past 3 days and I just wanted to ask you if you can give me some food to give my little brothers… Only if you can.”

Have you ever killed anyone?

This video starts with this question, “Do you remember the first time you killed someone?” They answered, “we played war and stuff like that but you know, it’s never real.”, “You always learned that when someone died, it was, it was something that was detrimental.” and “I know it’s not right, it’s not right to do this, but I have to. If I focus about all this stuff, in one minute if I focus, I lose my mind. but I never focus about this stuff.” This is really serious. They were continuing to rationalize themselves.  Because they are so afraid of facing the death. They murmured ‘They’re not real people, they’re just targets.’ He felt, “If there’s a hell, that’s probably what it smells like there. It penetrates you and it just won’t go away for a long time. It’s horrible.”

A veteran : I just, I felt sorry for them, but, no personal guilt, no.
I felt very compassionate and I was thinking about, you know his girlfriend, his family, whatever. Both have families and children probably and, you know.

Yemen boy ‘Don’t bury me’

Yemen boy was buried in a cold graveyard

On October 13, 2015, six-year-old Fareed Shawky in Yemen is playing with a ball with his friends as usual. Then suddenly, the worst tragedy in this  tiny Yemen boy’s life occurred. A missile fell to the house with a roaring sound and in a flash, his house was in chaos. With shrapnel lodged in his head, he whispered in ear ‘Don’t bury me‘. But shortly after, small Yemen boy was buried in a cold graveyard. In 1994, the first civil war broke out in Yemen after Royalists of the existing reign was retreated by the coup by Republicans. Then, there were large and small wars that can’t see. According to BBC, this war is known as ‘Silence of War’ since the world major media paid less attention compared to the gravity of the situation.

The United Nations held a ‘High-Level Pledging Event for the Humanitarian Crisis in Yemen’ attended by senior figures in 60 international organizations and NGOs from 72 countries in Geneva on 25 April 2017.

Some experts emphasize that the fundamental approaches are necessary to put an end to repetitive conflicts.
“Along with binding mechanisms including international agreements and legal framework in the country, creating a culture of peace that promotes the mindset of peacebuilding through the participation of all sectors is of tremendous importance to achieve immediate ceasefire and sustainable peace,” emphasized Mr. Ian Seo, general director of department of public relations, HWPL HQ.

We need a law that can limit war

Mr. Hrant Bagratyan, the former Prime Minister of Armenia, said “The DPCW will be a good instrument against extremism, terrorism, war, and associations that will be a good base for the sustainability of peace” regarding the DPCW.

We all have to support what we have to do with the same hearts. It is for living. Will you leave money and authority to our future generation who will live in this global village? There is nothing better than leaving a legacy to the future generation after achieving the world peace

International Mine Awareness Day : Unexpected

International Mine Awareness Day in Mine Action

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE International Mine Awareness Day : Unexpected War UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres Peace landmines IPYG International Mine Awareness Day HWPL DPCW António Guterres      UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated, “An unprecedented volume of landmines and unexploded weapons contaminates rural and urban war zones, maiming and killing innocent civilians long after conflict has ended. Mine action is vital.” To bring attention to this issue the General Assembly of the United Nations established the 4th of April as International Mine Awareness Day. It is estimated that approximately 110 million landmines still remain in the ground in various countries around the world.

According to Article 2 Clause 3 of the DPCW “States should take measures to ensure that existing weapons of mass destruction, weapons capable of causing widespread and unnecessary suffering and weapons incompatible with international humanitarian law are gradually dismantled or destroyed.”
