Before entering college, many students take a gap year! Internationally it has been known well but in Korea no one doesn’t know. ‘Gap year’ is a year’s break that aimed at promoting a mature outlook with which to absorb the benefits of higher education.(wiki) In Korea college students suffered ‘freshman syndrome‘. Because problem of employment is too painful. They forget all with drinking. Even they didn’t know what they wanted to do.

When it was successfully introduced in England, Ireland introduced it as a ‘transition year’. European countries began to introduce it because of higher participation and satisfaction. Harvard University, MIT and Princeton University introduced it to prevent a drop out. Why do they drop out? Because they can’t find their career aptitude. What is the result? It is very nice and they are full of confidence. As a result, college recommend it before entering.

But is it a real gap year? Don’t you travel for break or memory? I don’t say it is bad. Honestly, What is the difference between overseas study and gap year? Can you make it different?
