WE THE PEOPLES OF THE UNITED NATIONS DETERMINED

  • to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war, which twice in our lifetime has brought untold sorrow to mankind, and
  • to reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person, in the equal rights of men and women and of nations large and small, and
  • to establish conditions under which justice and respect for the obligations arising from treaties and other sources of international law can be maintained, and
  • to promote social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom,

AND FOR THESE ENDS

  • to practice tolerance and live together in peace with one another as good neighbours, and
  • to unite our strength to maintain international peace and security, and
  • to ensure, by the acceptance of principles and the institution of methods, that armed force shall not be used, save in the common interest, and
  • to employ international machinery for the promotion of the economic and social advancement of all peoples,

HAVE RESOLVED TO COMBINE OUR EFFORTS TO ACCOMPLISH THESE AIMS

Accordingly, our respective Governments, through representatives assembled in the city of San Francisco, who have exhibited their full powers found to be in good and due form, have agreed to the present Charter of the United Nations and do hereby establish an international organization to be known as the United Nations.

How do you read?

You’re feelings are really really important.

Isn’t it beautiful? This charter is really beautiful. But the reality is?

  • I want to ask you first. Did you know UN has that purpose?
  • I want to ask people who work in UN.  Did you know UN has that purpose?
  • I want to ask people who lead UN. Did you know UN has that purpose?

Is it a hollow crys? Is it Only remains through words?

Would ‘PEACE’ touch your mind?

  • If you had seen a war, you must long for peace.
  • If you are a victim, you must long for peace.
  • If your people has died, you must long for peace.

John Lennon, Letters to the Queen of England to return MBE.

John Lennon returned a MBE medal.

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE John Lennon, Letters to the Queen of England to return MBE.

He is a member of Britain’s legendary group ‘Beatles’. John Lennon and Paul McCartney are assessed “They wrote the most popular music in rock ‘ n ‘ roll history.” the Beatles received a MBE(Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) in 1965. This is exceptional for a pop at the time. John Lennon returned a MBE medal. John Lennon was later to return this medal with the meaning of criticism in the Vietnam war.

This is again emerging as an issue. Why?

A draft letter sent to Lennon’s queen has been found. A connoisseur of the draft this letter is up to 60,000 pounds.

How?

The man found this draft in albums that he purchased at 10 pounds in 20 years ago. The price rose 60 times. HAHAHA many friends will go to Secondhand store.

It is full text.

To. Her Majesty The Queen

I am returning this MBE in protest against Britain’s involvement in the Nigeria-Biafra thing, against our support of America in Vietnam and against Cold Turkey Slipping down the charts.

John Lennon of Bag

Lennon’s values

We can say John Lennon is greater than the Beatles at some point. The reason why John Lennon is highly regarded is his strong values for social movement.

John Lennon’s most famous song is rightly the 「 imagine 」. This song is telling us to imagine a peaceful world without state and religion.

John Lennon think Gandhian nonviolence is the only way to transform society.

There is no path to Peace. Peace is the path.

The Nobel Peace Prize 2016 Juan Manuel Santos #5

Nobel Peace Prize 2016!!!!

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE The Nobel Peace Prize 2016 Juan Manuel Santos #5

Juan Manuel Santos Calderón is the 32nd and current President of Colombia and sole recipient of the 2016 Nobel Peace Prize.

Why the Nobel Committee choose him?

The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided to award the Nobel Peace Prize for 2016 to Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos for his resolute efforts to bring the country’s more than 50-year-long civil war to an end.

This War has cost the lives of at least 220,000 Colombians and displaced close to six million people.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee said the award should also be seen as a tribute to the Colombian people who, despite great hardships and abuses, have not given up hope of a just peace, and to all the parties who have contributed to the peace process. This tribute is paid, not least, to the representatives of the countless victims of the civil war.(www.nobelprize.org)

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE The Nobel Peace Prize 2016 Juan Manuel Santos #5 In addition originally, He is a hardliner on the rebels. 2006 to 2009, while serving as defense minister He dealt a series of blows against the FARC guerrilla group, including the rescue of Fernando Araújo Perdomo, the death of FARC Secretariat member Raul Reyes in a 2 March 2008. So he attain eminence among their own people. However after he became president, He averted his eyes on how to end the civil war fundamentally. The BBC said “A Hawk turned into A Dove”

Colombian Civil War

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE The Nobel Peace Prize 2016 Juan Manuel Santos #5

Despite abundant underground resources such as iron ore, oil, natural gas, Colombia displaced millions of people who end up as refugees and is branded the biggest drug market.  Why? Colombia take the long civil war.

Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) began as a peasant uprising in 1964. What was the will of the people who started FARC?

Anyway this War has cost the lives of at least 220,000 Colombians and displaced close to six million people.

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE The Nobel Peace Prize 2016 Juan Manuel Santos #5

220,000 Colombians were died

6,000,000 people were displaced

Colombian Civil War is one of the most prolonged civil war in recent history and It is only armed conflict in the Americas.

PEACE Is Started!!!

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE The Nobel Peace Prize 2016 Juan Manuel Santos #5

By the mediation of Cuban President Raul Castro, Rodrigo Londono and Santos pledge to a peace agreement in 2016-09-26.

Pen used in their signature is made from real bullet shell used is civil war. In pen grip “The bullet record our past. Education is our future.” is written in Spanish.

After signing a peace agreement consisting of 297, President Santos give white dove badge to Londono. White dove badge is used for years on Santos’s clothes. The Londono locate it into the chest and smiled. The two shook hands with each other.

Why peace agreement is rejected?

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE The Nobel Peace Prize 2016 Juan Manuel Santos #5

Their rejection is because of detail contents of a peace treaty.

War crimes like drug trafficking and kidnapping of civilians in the FARC are exempted from obligation. And It ensures the legitimate political participation.

They who lost a family or whose family were taken hostage in FARC are against what is negotiated. Because It is too generous to rebels.

Yes! 49.78%   No! 50.21%

But voter turnout was 37%. Dissenting votes is 57,000 more than vote yes.

President Santos said “We dedicate this award to people suffering from civil war and millions of victims” and “We go a little bit and We get very close to peace.” Santos held a national dialogue for the restoration of peace after the vote.

So, I find a similar situation.

  •  Colombia civil war for 52 years 220,000 died
  • Mindanao civil war for 40 years 140,000 died

It is really similar. At the same time, I have many questions.

Why Mindanao’s peace agreement is not rejected? What is the difference? How did they use escape clauses? What is the difference?

Now MILF : Moro Islamic Liberation Front.

This 2nd Peace memorial is set up in the inside of MILF at 2016. It is amazing!!!!!!

1st Peace memorial is set up in 2014. Why? By mediation of HWPL, 40 years of Catholic and Muslim religious war was over.

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE The Nobel Peace Prize 2016 Juan Manuel Santos #5

After 2 years, 10,000 people are in line to greet the HWPL. I was deeply moved by the news.

“Lee, brought a powerful message that adds to the power to achieve peace that we hope and desire. It means HWPL and MILF are partner for peace.” – MILF chairman of Al-Hajj Murad Ebrahim

What is to be done about Colombia civil war?

I think they need more comfort. We have many different emotions such as happiness, anger, sadness, and annoyance.

So Respect and communication is needed. It looked like easy but It is really hard.

Finally I think Colombia need to learn ‘how HWPL achieve peace in Mindanao’.

The Nobel Peace Prize 2007 “Al” Gore #4

“Al” Gore

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE The Nobel Peace Prize 2007 "Al" Gore #4

“Al” Gore is an American environmentalist and politician.

I first know him as a environmental activist. He is famous.

WHY?

Now you know? He deliver a talk to warn the world about the dangers of global warming more than a thousand times!!!

The Nobel committee indicate that “Global warming is a serious risk that induce large scale migration and the fiercer competition for the planet’s resources to increase the risk of war and conflict “.

Gore and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Committee alert the world to these risks. So The Nobel committee give credit for Gore and Climate Change Committee.

Do you know ‘An Inconvenient Truth’?

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE The Nobel Peace Prize 2007 "Al" Gore #4

It is a 2006 documentary film directed by Davis Guggenheim about former United States Vice President Al Gore‘s campaign. It alerts the public to an increasing “planetary emergency” due to global warming. The documentary was a critical and box-office success, winning two Academy Awards for Best Documentary Feature and Best Original Song.

Hmm.. I know Al gore is a controversial figure. But I don’t want to say about this problem. I want to focus on “How hard he try to achieve PEACE

The surprising thing is that  More people are becoming interested in environmental issues. So Al gore can win a Nobel Prize. Finally I would like to pay a standing ovation to his efforts. Beyond that I cannot say more.

Judgment is your free. But Freedom carries responsibility.

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE Peace is Coming!!! HWPL : 2nd Annual Commemoration of WARP Summit

I think 2nd Annual Commemoration of September 18th WARP Summit largely can be divided into three part.

  • First. Conferences and Forums.
  • Second. “PEACE March”-themed world parade and traditional cultural performances.
  • Third. “War and Peace “ cards section performances.

First. Conferences and Forums.

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE Peace is Coming!!! HWPL : 2nd Annual Commemoration of WARP Summit

  • Session 1
Advocacy Forum for the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War
  • Session 2
    International Religious Leaders Conference
  • Session 3
The 4th HWPL International Law Peace Committee Meeting
  • Session 4
Press Conference for the 2nd Annual Commemoration of the September 18th WARP Summit

  • Session 6                                                                         Conference for the Implementation of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War
  • Session 7                                                                             2016 IWPG Network Forum

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE Peace is Coming!!! HWPL : 2nd Annual Commemoration of WARP Summit They always make an effort to achieve peace. They go deep into the Action plan(s) based on common ground of understanding and practicality of the DPCW to create “tangible results at a national level”. They are really longing for peace. But in fact, we have to thank them. I was deeply touched by their cordiality.

Why do they want peace more then us?

We are One. We are not different. Do you agree? I agree!!! We want ‘peace’. We don’t want to see my friends and family dying. Who want to? But we turned a blind eye to people dying. Who died? Our friends!!! So many young lives were sacrificed in the war.

What’re they getting out of this war?

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE Peace is Coming!!! HWPL : 2nd Annual Commemoration of WARP Summit

Second. “PEACE March”-themed world parade and traditional cultural performances.

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE Peace is Coming!!! HWPL : 2nd Annual Commemoration of WARP Summit

There are so many cultures. I feel like ‘The world come in my mind’. It’s so beautiful and amazing. I can’t imagine how hard they try.

Why? I think they are very culturally advanced.

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE Peace is Coming!!! HWPL : 2nd Annual Commemoration of WARP Summit

This is really must be watched. Only someone who are on the spot can feel vividly. This picture is so colorful, isn’t it? It is my favorite picture.

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE Peace is Coming!!! HWPL : 2nd Annual Commemoration of WARP Summit

Lastly after light glows in the dark, international law expert, all over the incumbent ministers, religious leaders, leaders of women and youth groups begin to parade.

Messengers of peace yell out a cheer!!!!

Someone say “Please give us peace… help us..” “We believe in you guys”

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE Peace is Coming!!! HWPL : 2nd Annual Commemoration of WARP Summit

Everybody joins hands and dances around. There are no authoritative adults. They are becoming one in the name of “peace”.

I feel like “Peace is really really coming”

Third. “War and Peace “ cards section performances.

About 12,000 HWPL members make this picturesque scenery. 12,000 people seem small as numbers. But Look closely and you will find how hard they try.

Someone must say “How much money you need to move them?” I was curious about that too. If you are sitting over there, Can you put up with it? The sun grew blazing as the day wore on.

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE Peace is Coming!!! HWPL : 2nd Annual Commemoration of WARP Summit

We are so free but that HWPL members can’t move. We eat our snack but that HWPL members can’t eat anything. We can see this beautiful performance but that HWPL members only see their back of card.

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE Peace is Coming!!! HWPL : 2nd Annual Commemoration of WARP Summit

They move like that only for peace.

How many people could “move like that”?

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE Peace is Coming!!! HWPL : 2nd Annual Commemoration of WARP Summit

“There is no path to peace. Peace is the path.” (Mahatma Gandhi)

What do they do?

The goal of this committee is to promote and participate in the development process of turning the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) into an enforceable law.

Is it special?

The committee is in a unique position to urge their respective nations to recognize and adopt the principles of DPCW. This internal pressure from the Peace Advocacy Committee would create and promote a lasting culture of peace – including creating awareness-raising activities, commemorations, and initiatives that engage the public consciousness with peace.

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE HWPL : Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light

Introduction

It is founded in 2012. Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization. Its purpose is achieving world peace and the cessation of war. HWPL has 70 branches in Korea and another 100 branches around the world. HWPL is working in conjunction with the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) and the International Peace Youth Group (IPYG).

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE HWPL : Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light

IWPG has 97 branches around 40 other nations!!! IPYG  has 2.4 million people in 96 nations!!!

The Purpose of the Establishment

: “Achieving World Peace as an inheritance to our future generations”

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE HWPL : Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light

Its purpose is achieving world peace and the cessation of war.

How do we achieve it?

HWPL‘s SOLUTIONS are  ‘International Law for Peace and Cessation of War‘ and ‘Alliance of Religions‘.

It has come into its own as the greatest groundbreaking and substantive solutions of peace.

Vision

: “Practical approach & international peace initiatives in legal, social and religious aspects”

HWPL is committed to practical approach to world peace.

HWPL is committed to the cessation of war.

How could they do that?

It is the establishment of international peace initiatives in legal, social and religious aspects.

It is the establishment of an enforceable law compatible with the*Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) and *the World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (WARP) offices.

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE HWPL : Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light

But also International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) and International Peace Youth Group (IPYG) play a significant role in peace building and conflict resolution as active proponents of peace.

When HWPL‘s vision is fully achieved, wars will no longer have a place on our Earth and A Culture of Peace will finally spread to all corners of the globe.

What is Heavenly Culture?

Heavenly Culture? Have you ever heard  Heavenly Culture before?

To live according to a Heavenly culture is to live according to the principles and values of heaven, a place that gives light, rain and air without boundaries.

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE HWPL : Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light

It is also to live according to the Creator, who is the foundation of all creation.

HWPL’s core values are Peace and Respect for life.

HWPL is engaging communities all over the world with a spirit of Love and Harmony.

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE HWPL : Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light

It is hard. I know that. But It is worth as much as difficult.

Do you believe peace is possible?

Someone says “It is impossible because there are always people who are greedy and selfish”. Also other man says “It is possible because there are always people who are warm altruist“.

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE HWPL : Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light

I don’t think who is correct.

I can’t think who is correct.

But I can think HWPL’s SOLUTIONS are very practical approach.

It looks like PEACE is really possible.

What do you think? 🙂

Do you know that? He was in prison for a long time. How long?

26 years!!!!! It’s surprising!!!!

It’s sad.. And I have mixed feelings.

Why did he go to jail? Hmm… It’s mixed.

in 1961 Mandela, Sisulu, and Slovo co-founded Umkhonto we Sizwe (“Spear of the Nation”, abbreviated MK). Becoming chairman of the militant group, Mandela gained ideas from Marxist literature on guerilla warfare by Mao and Che Guevara as well as from the military theorist Carl von Clausewitz.(Wikipedia)

So he was captured in 1962. He gave his final testimony  in court. It is called Rivonia Trial Speech in 1964.

I have fought against white domination, and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons will live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for and to see realised. But if it needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die.”

After 30 years later his inauguration took place in Pretoria on 1994.

“We understand it still that there is no easy road to freedom. We know it well that none of us acting alone can achieve success. We must therefore act together as a united people, for national reconciliation, for nation building, for the birth of a new world. Let there be justice for allLet there be peace for all. Let there be work, bread, water and salt for all. Let each know that for each the body, the mind and the soul have been freed to fulfill themselves. Never, never and never again shall it be that this beautiful land will again experience the oppression of one by another and suffer the indignity of being the skunk of the world.” – Inaugural Speech in 1994

What do you feel…?
