Greenery : Color trend of the Year 2017

“Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the hope we collectively yearn for amid a complex social and political landscape, Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose.” Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone’s color consulting arm, said. Why Greenery? It is a symbolic color of ECO campaign. What do you think about ‘ECO‘? Eco-friendly goods are more popular. These days, some of my friends have a lot of concern for the environment. So I write this posting 🙂

Revitalize! the World!

ECO Campaign : Change the World

There is a flock of ideas. First, Green roof. Noted that there were so much effect. Absorbing rainwater, Providing insulation, Decreasing stress of the people and Helping to lower urban air temperatures and mitigate the heat island effect. Second, Vertical forest(Bosco Verticale) project. It is a pair of residential towers in the Porta Nuova district of Milan, Italy. It is just a tower. Tree tower! This vertical forest has 900 trees(550 and 350 trees respectively). It has the same effect of 7,000 square meter forest. It’s so amazing!

Third, I want to introduce you a film. Dare to Be Wild(2015) Review If you want a gentle movie like ‘Begin again’ We can see beautiful picturesque greenery of being at one with nature. It is a story of one landscape designer who want to attempt to win a Chelsea Flower Show. You won‘t be sorry. 🙂

Barcelona terror protest : “We are not afraid”

Barcelona terror protest : What you afraid?

Do you know what happened? On August, 500,000 people gathered in Barcelona. It is the ‘Barcelona terror protest’. This is no small thing. They shouted “We are not afraid”! When looking at people, they wanted something. What do you see? I can see a mature sense of citizenship. They really want peace. They heartily comfort victim and families of the victims. I’ll tell you what happened. Teens and twenties rammed a van into pedestrians walking along Las Ramblas killing 15 and injuring more than 100. What’s more cool? Their slogan is #Imnotafraid #NoTincPor.

Who doesn’t fear the voice of the people?

I think it seems to be the global trend. The people convey our determination exactly and maturely. For example, In Korea 2,300,000 people gathered every week for their country. It’s my posting 1, posting 2. And In the world many people march for Peace! Those who walked for peace! How cool they are! What can we do more about World peace?

I like the HWPL(Heavenly culture, World peace and Restoration of light). They gathered for peace. They have different nationality and race but they have same earnest desire, Peace. What can we do? Gather & Walk!

I think we ought to follow the example. Barcelona terror protest is a good example with above examples. Maybe we can think 500,000 people is a lot. In fact, It is not. How many people in Barcelona! It is not many people. What are we afraid of? The indifference of the people. That is what we need to be afraid of. Let’s walk together 🙂

Jurgen Hinzpeter : We don’t forget you

“A Taxi Driver” is about taxi driver Kim Sa-bok who takes Jurgen Hinzpeter to Gwang-ju. At that time, Korean press controlled press reports that a riot arose in Gwang-ju. They reported “Every mob gathered in Gwangju. Also, it was ordered by North Korea.” But the citizens in Gwangju didn’t know anything. Phone communication with the outside have been cut off. Nobody could know the truth. “Suddenly there was a loud bang. Innocent people are dying.” Jurgen Hinzpeter was the first and only journalist to report this horrible scenes. He broadcasted it as “South Korea at Crossroads” to all over the world. He was called by ‘a witness of the blue eyes‘

Edeltraut Brahmstaedt, the widow of German journalist Jurgen Hinzpeter, said “My husband was a righteous person who always sought justice. We thank the Gwang-ju people for upholding my husband’s wish to be buried here. He would be proud and thankful.” We don’t forget you. So we made a film ‘A taxi driver’ for him. It has more than ten million viewers now. Thank you very much indeed. Thank you. We can’t forget. Now the truth resounded through the world. Now, it is not a mob disturbance. It is the Gwang-ju Democratization Movement on May 18, 1980. Thank you.

Dead White helmet : Peace is the path

It is really a shocking news. I have had an eye on Nobel Peace Prize candidates because I have a lot of interest in peace. What news? 7 members of ‘White Helmet‘ were killed by unidentified armed men. I don’t know how many. They were shot in the head. Do you know what it means? “Execution” What kind of crime? The international community is angry. It is even more because 7 members are private volunteers who worked tirelessly to save lives in an extraordinarily dangerous environment. We should make it as an opportunity. 7 Dead White helmet is not dead.

What is their will?

The best way to commemorate their deaths is to follow their will. It is unnecessary to talk many things. If we don’t do anything, we should be more angry. So, what is their will? White helmet is made up of Tailor, bakers, carpenters, electricians and other over 3,000 people. Their goal is to save anyone hurt. They claim to advocate moderation. Eventually, what they most wanted is peace. “A world free from wars” Anton Chekhov said ‘We shall find peace. We shall hear the angels, we shall see the sky sparkling with diamonds’ I didn’t want their death to be in vain. Dead White helmets must be alive in our heart.

How we can do it?

We already know that war settles nothing and to win a war is as disastrous as to lose one.(Agatha Christie) Actions are necessary now, not words. We should really achieve peace. National Liberation Day [Korea] : Meaning

After 72 years : How are you?

In 1945, Korea gained independence. It is called by ‘National Liberation Day’. Independence is a moving word. I know it after I saw many movies. But it is a brief amount of time. I settle into a routine again and again. My concern is how I could earn a living, how to go out and how to know what I want to do. It may be too small pricks. I can say “The past is past and the today is today. We have new problems on our plate. Our lives are tough too.” I know it. And I know it too. Actually they don’t want to blame to us. Sometimes I want to explain myself. I want to say “It’s not my fault.” I know it. But we must move forward.

What should we do?

광복 : Restoration of Light

National Liberation Day of Korea is called ‘Gwangbokjeol, 광복절’. ‘광복‘ means ‘Restoration of Light’. What it means? Why is this? ‘Liberation’ and ‘Restoration of Light’ mean same? You can think it is a little bit abstract. Restoration means “In the past, all dark” I read an article. It’s really nice. So I scrap it. “To commemorate Independence Day is to truly realize and know what independence means in real life. With this, it is possible to start a true independence for the future. A world without discrimination – righteousness and justice exist and breathe – this is the place where everyone needs to strive together to achieve, and truly become the owners of independence.” This evening I’m more sentimental.

Peace studies : ‘United Nations and the Art of Peace’

I’m studying Peace

What was your major in college? Me? I majored in ‘peace’. …? Department of Peace? Is there such a thing? To be exact, It’s name is the department of ‘United Nations and the art of peace’. UNITAR(The United Nations Institute for Training and Research), WFUNA(World Federation of United Nations Associations) and Kyunghee University worked together to develop this master´s degree. “Fostering experts and hands-on workers in the field of Peace studies” is why it was created. Oh Joon, Ambassador to the U.N, is appointed by a full-time professor.

Why Peace studies?

Civil war and terrorism were surging since 2000. 500,000 people were killed every year. One day? 1,300! It is estimated that 90 % of the casualties caused by war is the civilian. Almost all of them are women and children. Longing for peace is more growing in the nervous international community. So World’s leading universities offer the course of peace studies. This is why. Actually it is very hard to achieve peace. Because it can’t achieve by one man. It is a problem of culture and level of consciousness. I guess Spinoza want to say something to you. “Peace is not the absence of war, but a virtue based on strength of character.” It is hard but we can do it! United Nations and the art of peace!

2017 World Youth Festival “Youth Do It”

Youth Do IT and Youth well done

Do you have any something stuffy? But you don’t know how to release, don’t you? Radiate your youthfulness! Youth imagine Youth challenge Youth act and Youth well done! It is a slogan of 2017 World Youth Festival. It takes place in Gwangju, Korea from Aug. 4 to Aug. 6. Originally I went to Australia to study abroad. In summer vacation, I came to my hometown. I’ll show you things I actually taken. You might be surprised by their energy.

Who created this festival? Who participated in this festival? Youth! But It is not made to eat and just play. I think this festival want to say somethiing. As I see it, it want to make ‘new culture’. “Youth can do it! Not only just do, but also do very well!” There are many lethargic young man who lose their will. They think “What can I do? It is nothing.” I was like that at one time. But now, this is no time to keep still. There are many young people our age in all over the world. What do they think? It may be different. Can you hear?

There is a someone who worry for a living, who are afraid of crimes and who are angry at enemy that kill my comrade. But we are one! We should help each other. This is why Youth cry out Peace! The war must be done away. Politics seem to start most wars. But Politician don’t go to war. Who go to? It is Youth! Youth kill each other. Who died? It is Youth! Not Politician. Why do we fight? For country…? Can you say it is for country? Ask to your conscience. We want to achieve PEACE! We Are One!

Dialogue with Korean Independence activist

Great cause : For our country!

I want our nation to become the most beautiful nation in the world. I do not want our nation to become the richest and powerful nation in the world. It is sufficient that our wealth is such that it makes our lives abundant and our military such that it is able to repel others’ invasion.

The only thing that K desire in infinite quantity is the power of a highly-developed culture.

This is because the power of culture both makes ourselves happy and gives happiness to others.

Korea was under Japanese colonial rule from 1910 until 1945. What do we need to think? As I was a child, I’m very angry with Japan. Why? They raped, killed and pillaged innocent village people. How could you do that! What did I do wrong? Korea was weak. Is it a sin? Nope. But after I got older, I realized that I’m in a temper callowly. The target of anger was wrong. Also, it is the most important to know how to get angry. And people are naturally mature. I’m really like someone who is awake. For example, I admire ‘Korean Independence activist’.

What should I do to understand that situation? There are many movies and writings. If you see and hear a lot of things, can you know their mind? Even if you don’t know their heart, you read nothing. If you can’t feel their breath, emotion and spirit, you see nothing. Actually, I want to try more to feel. If they now were born, it would be the same age with us. But how about us? What are we living for? College students these days, including me, study for a living. Even I don’t know who is my enemy. Why am I living? Why didn’t I do like ‘Korean Independence activist’? Why were’t I passionate like them? What is my cause? I have a lot of thinking.

I actually can’t sing a song well. So, I don’t know how to relieve stress. Many things happened in the world. There is a cold wanton murder! The resentment festered in victim’s mind.
