HWPL: French Peace Walk for DPCW

The French Revolution: 1789-1799

France is the first country in the world to have a civil revolution. The French Revolution (1789-1799) is one of the most important events in human history. On August 26, 1789, it introduced the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen, proclaiming liberty, equality, the inviolability of property, and the right to resist oppression. It is Influenced by the doctrine of “natural right”; the rights of man are held to be valid at all times and in every place. And this document inspired in large part the 1948 United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).

On May 24th, about 200 youths gathered in front of the Ibis Hotel in Paris, and the Eiffel Tower, France’s representative landmark, in commemoration of the 6th anniversary of the Declaration of World Peace. HWPL hosted this event. Also it was supported by renowned international organizations such as, AIESEC in France and Regards de Paix.

The event started with congratulatory videos of Anna Bossman, the UNESCO Ambassador of Ghana, Oumar Keita, the UNESCO Ambassador of Mali, and also continued with congratulatory addresses of Gaura Bhakta, the Guru of ISKCON, and André Lokisso, the head of the Assistance To The Integration Of Demobilized Child Soldiers, which is one of the UNESCO affiliated organizations with the country of Africa.

Universal Declaration of Human Rights and DPCW

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is a milestone document in the history of human rights. You already know. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which marks the 70th anniversary of this year, still holds great significance for us all over the world. Especially this year, the UDHR is asking us, ‘The UDHR don’t have a separate article on ‘Right to Peace’ yet, what does “The Right to Peace” mean to you? I wrote a posting.

#StandUp4HumanRights  #peaceday

More info: https://www.humanrights.gov.au/publications/what-universal-declaration-human-rights

Is the UDHR legally binding?

Today, we are going to find out more questions about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and what UDHR and DPCW have in common. I was really curious, too. “Is the UDHR legally binding?” It’s a globally recognized document and a declaration cited everywhere. It’s so natural to see it. What is the correct answer?

The Universal Declaration is not a treaty, so it does not directly create legal obligations for countries. However, it is an expression of the fundamental values which are shared by all members of the international community. And it has had a profound influence on the development of international human rights law. (Thanks, google)

So what is the exact meaning of being legally binding? Legally binding treaty. This means that states which ratify the treaty are legally bound by it, while states that do not are neither bound by the treaty obligations or entitled to invoke those obligations against other state parties. The HWPL’s DPCW is just walking down this road. The international law so far allowed war in part. So HWPL will make the DPCW a legally binding law to bring it to the United Nations to make a world without war.

What do the UDHR and the DPCW have in common?

Please President, Stop the coercive conversion

New York times Human rights advertisement on 28 November

“Hello. I’m Ji-in Gu. Mr. President, Please listen to my story. Stop the painful kidnapping, detention and endless assaults in 44 days.”

On January 18, 2018, a flower fell to the ground in a pension in Korea. The late Ms Gu, who had a lot of dreams and had a lot of career ahead, was only 25 years old. In my first posting, we looked at the story of late Ji-in Gu, who seriously violated human rights despite human’s desperate efforts to protect human rights.

We still have two questions. Why did she have to die of suffocation? Why did parents keep their adorable daughter in custody?

The Answer is…  ‘Religion’

Report on the Freedom of Religion in the World

  • A STEP TOWARDS PEACE New York times Human rights: #RememberGu #2 USCIRF Universal Declaration of Human Rights UDHR Religious Freedom Conversion Pastors Coercive Conversion Programs CCK Korea

In the Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), ‘Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom.’ How much freedom of religion is being guaranteed in human rights?

According to the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) ‘s report on religious freedom in 2018, 16 countries classified as “countries of particular concern” include North Korea, as well as Burma, China, Eritria, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Central African Republic, Nigeria, Pakistan, Russia, Syria and Vietnam. Terrorism, murder, slavery, rape, incarceration, forced migration, coercive conversion, intimidation, property confiscation, women’s alienation, and ban on religious activities are still happening in these countries.

In Pakistan, for example, 1,000 girls are kidnapped and forced to change religion every year. Usually, girls in religious minorities, sometimes teenagers are kidnapped and forced to convert to Islam, and marry kidnappers or his accomplices. The daughters are forced to be educated in captivity, and when the police come to them, criminals who kidnap, detain and assault her are evading all legal responsibilities because they are her husband, her family. That’s why her parents can never see their daughter for the rest of my life, even when her parents went to find daughters with the police. Therefore, Human rights activists around the world spoke out wholeheartedly, but the criminals were hiding behind the name of religion.

Present State of Coercive Conversion Programs

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE New York times Human rights: #RememberGu #2 USCIRF Universal Declaration of Human Rights UDHR Religious Freedom Conversion Pastors Coercive Conversion Programs CCK Korea Even in Korea, the country of Kpop, where religious freedom was stipulated in the Constitution, violations of religious freedom are taking place. The reason why Ms. Ji-in Gu had to die of suffocation is ‘Coercive Conversion Programs‘. The reason why parents kept their adorable daughter in custody is ‘Coercive Conversion Programs‘. All things were because of illegal coercive conversion that allowed kidnapping, incarceration and murder in the name of religion. Was there a parent who wanted to kill his beloved daughter? Nope. Someone else must be behind all this. They are the ‘coercive conversion pastors’ who ordered everything and asked for lots of money.

Coercive conversion pastors instigate anxiety of parents and use their love to manipulate them behind. At the dictation of pastors, parents handcuffed her hands and feet, lock her in a pension and force her to convert. This is how they get away with the law. Through the coercive conversion program, one Christian Council of Korea (CCK) minister even received up to $894,425 USD, for their guidance.

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE New York times Human rights: #RememberGu #2 USCIRF Universal Declaration of Human Rights UDHR Religious Freedom Conversion Pastors Coercive Conversion Programs CCK Korea

According to Human Rights Association for Victims of Coercive Conversion Programs(HAC), The victims of coercive conversion programs numbered about 1,000 from year 2003 to 2017. 96 victims were confirmed in the first half of this year alone. In a survey of 900 people from 2003 to March 2015, 52 percent of the victims were imprisoned, 42 percent of them were taken to coercive conversion program by kidnapping. It was even reported that 10 people were hospitalized in psychiatric hospitals for not being converted. More seriously, their pain didn’t end there. 77.4 percent of the victims felt extreme fear caused by a violent environment. And 65 percent of the victims suffered from mental disorders and stress due to the coercive conversion program.

After Kim was beaten to death by a hammer (by her husband) in 2007, Ms. Gu made a petition to the president, but nothing changed. As a result, Ms. Gu died of suffocation on January 18, 2018. Then, 1 year anniversary has come, and the sad thing is, nothing has changed. The voices of her friends keep ringing in my ears. “She petitioned the president for help, but nothing changed! and she died! Will you take action after I die!!!”

There is widespread condemnation of the human rights abuses of coercive conversion program all over the world. Ms. Gu’s death resounded through the world. The 221 U.S. media outlets including NBC, Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS), and ABC has reported extensively on the human rights issue under the title of ‘South Korea: The Olympic Games Amid Large-Scale Human Rights Protests.’ In Korea alone, there were countless protests and 120,000 citizens from each cities participated nationwide for human rights. Religious groups and politicians from all over the world hold rally voluntarily to denounce the coercive conversion program of the CCK Korea. And U.N. headquarters and Washington condemn it as an act of giving religion a bad name. Korea’s dark truth was covered in about 600 reports in 41 countries.

With nearly a year approaching, protest rallies against the violation of religious freedom continue from Los Angeles to South Africa, France, the Philippines, Washington, D.C. and San Francisco, and the world’s media poured out many reports. Thanks to an advertisement in the New York Times on the tragic death of Ms. Ji-in Gu, human rights activists’ voices have became louder. After hearing the unfortunate news, Ms. Jenifer (New York) began a fund-raising campaign through the GoFundMe. So the New York Times ad on 28th November can be possible. The sad news is that Ms. Jennifer, who started the fundraiser, died of cancer and the Jennifer’s family took the money to run an ad in the New York Times. Because it is her wish.

A New York Times advertisement space on November 28th dealt with women human rights issue. I will introduce you to New York times Human Rights News!

On November 25, it is the ‘U.N. International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women‘. It was the day in 1981 when three sisters of the Dominican Republic protested against the dictatorship of the government. The Day was started to remember that sisters were killed by violence, and many people from all over the world including Spain are participating in demonstrations and holding campaigns. Despite these efforts, a 25-year-old woman died in a pension in Korea on January 18, 2018.

Why did she have to die of suffocation when she had so many dreams? Why did parents keep their adorable daughter in custody?

Human Rights is still alive?

Human rights are rights inherent to all human beings. It’s the right to live like a human being. The Article 1 of UDHR, ‘All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood‘, shows the spirit of human rights. Human rights should not be discriminated against for any reason, including race, skin color, sex, language, religion, etc. UN http://www.un.org/en/sections/issues-depth/human-rights/index.html

The United Nations Charter confirmed people’s beliefs about basic human rights and promised to keep this human rights. To make sure that we keep this promise, we have to define ‘what human rights are and what freedom is’ that everyone can understand. It is the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which is now the most recognized.

Thus, on December 10, 1948, 50 of the 58 member states of the United Nations declared the Declaration of Human Rights in favor of it. This was unprecedented in human history. Therefore, “THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY proclaims THIS UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS as a common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations, to the end that every individual and every organ of society, keeping this Declaration constantly in mind, shall strive by teaching and education to promote respect for these rights and freedoms and by progressive measures, national and international, to secure their universal and effective recognition and observance, both among the peoples of Member States themselves and among the peoples of territories under their jurisdiction.” http://www.un.org/en/universal-declaration-human-rights/

But despite these efforts, there are still many incidents of serious human rights violations.

On December 30, 2017, a 25-year-old girl left her friends with a message saying, “I will travel with my family.” Then on January 18, 2018, she returned to us as a ‘cold and blue corpse‘. According to one friend’s testimony, the late Ms. Ji-in Gu was a ‘nice friend who spent time with his family when she was busy and she had many dreams and was so passionate.’ And her friend continued “I’m so sorry and angry. I miss her terribly.” She was imprisoned in a pension in South Korea. After a scuffle with her parents, she was presumed to have choked to death.

There is a message left by Ms. Gu in her lifetime. “Hello. I’m Ji-in Gu. Mr. President, Please listen to my story. Stop the painful kidnapping, detention and endless assaults in 44 days.” Yes, that’s right. It was not the first time that Ms. Gu was kidnapped and detained. She was imprisoned for 44 days in a monastery on June 2016 and she had a really painful time both soul and body. I mentioned it in my posting, but a year later, nothing has changed. Maybe she’s crying in the sky.

“She petitioned the president for help, but nothing changed and she died. Will you take action after I die?” said Ji-in’s friends.

You can feel the depth of sadness in their memorial songs.

Want to be a warm star to people swaying in the night winds
Born as a flower, you always said you would be a star

Want to give them warm warmth, who bear heartaches
How lonely you are in the darkness, not open even when you pat.

Even in our dreams, we meet again.
Because always we dream the same dream.
You’ll pray for us in the sky

To you now being a star,
The beloved in tears give you a white flower that has your scent
We’ll meet again in the sky

You and I are glittering in longing
Even when you close your eyes,
you didn’t let your desire go
Now we’ll make sure your wishes come true

There are still two questions left in this poignant story. Why did she have to die of suffocation? Why did parents keep their adorable daughter in custody? Let’s look at the next posting. # New York times Human rights

It will be South Korea’s president, Moon Jae-in.”

South Korean President Moon Jae-in said the ‘Nobel Peace Prize should go to U.S. President Donald Trump‘, if anyone were to win it for their efforts to resolve the issues with North Korea. He said “the Nobel Peace Prize is for Trump and we only need to bring peace.”

HWPL is is an international peace nonprofit organization registered with the United Nations Department of Public Information (DPI) and the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). There are three reasons why the Man hee Lee will win the Nobel Peace Prize.

“When the light of heaven shines in the hearts of people,
it becomes the light that never fades away.” – the chairman Man hee Lee

Youth and women can become the most persuasive advisories of peace in the present and in the future. Both avoiding war and establishing peace-building processes require a laborious effort to create a culture of solidarity outlining a pragmatic style in which the statements should followed by effective actions. I believe that the Declaration of World Peace proclaimed in Seoul can get everyone around the world, no matter if they are men, women, youth or children, ready to unite under the mantle of peace and take the responsibility to promote the message of peace to the entire world. We are one.

The Chairman Man hee Lee is the messenger of peace who is making the actual result of peace. In 2014, he risked his life to go the area where many people died for 40 years in the bloody conflict in Mindanao. He prayed to God before to go Mindanao. He said “I won’t go if God don’t abide with me.” Then, he met with representatives of the two religions to resolve the religious conflict and drew a peace treaty.

The Chairman Man hee Lee of HWPL asked, “People who are gathered here, is there any want who want war?.”

No one answered. The Chairman Lee continued that “War sacrifices many lives and destroys many buildings. If there is anyone who wants war, please raise your hand.” With silence–, no one raised their hands. The Chairman Man hee Lee shouted strongly, “When there’s war, who is the one who is fighting in front of battle line that is the youth. We are born in the same world, same generation, but their lives cannot blossom, but their lives are lost in the battle!”

The Chairman Lee continued, “Now, we need to make a peaceful world to live. And when we inherit peaceful world to our future generation, nothing would be more valuable. That is why we need to urge all of our presidents. We need to urge them for the world to become peaceful sooner. I’m not saying something wrong. Am I? We have to make our world, our global village being paradise. This is our duty. And, this is what we have to do.” Everyone gave a standing ovation.

Colombian Civil War has cost the lives of at least 220,000 Colombians and displaced close to 6 million people. The Norwegian Nobel Committee said ‘the award should also be seen as a tribute to the Colombian people who, despite great hardships and abuses, have not given up hope of a just peace, and to all the parties who have contributed to the peace process. This tribute is paid, not least, to the representatives of the countless victims of the civil war.’

By the mediation of Cuban President Raul Castro, Rodrigo Londono (FARC) and Santos pledge to a peace agreement on 26th of September, 2016. Pen used in their signature is made from real bullet shell used in civil war. In pen grip “The bullet record our past. Education is our future.” is written in Spanish.

The only thing left was a referendum. That’s when the Nobel Prize 2016 was announced. But the peace agreement was rejected.

Yes 49.78%       No 50.21%

Also, voter turnout was 37%. Dissenting votes is 57,000 more than vote yes.

The people said ‘it is too generous for rebels.’ The Agreement said ‘War crimes like drug trafficking and kidnapping of civilians in the FARC will be exempted from obligation.’ And It ensures the legitimate political participation. They, who lost a family or whose family were taken hostage in FARC, were against the peace agreement. So, Santos government only passed Colombia peace agreement by parliamentary vote instead of the referendum. But some said “Colombia people refuse it. How can the Congress approve it?”(AFP)

But after two years, what happened in Mindanao?

After 2 years, 15,000 people are in line to greet the HWPL in Philipines. On 24 January 2016, Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) held an unveiling ceremony for the Monument to the Declaration of World Peace located in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao Province. This monument is the second HWPL Peace Monument to be erected in the Philippines. Also, the Chairman Al Haj Murad Ebrahim of MILF decided to designate January 24th of every year as ‘HWPL Day’. I think Colombia needs to learn ‘how HWPL achieves peace in Mindanao’.

MILF chairman of Al-Hajj Murad Ebrahim

“The Chairman Lee brought a really powerful message to achieve peace that we hope and desire. It means HWPL and MILF are partner for peace. Peace is not a matter confined to a single person but to every individual. Therefore anyone who is part of this global family must all become messengers of peace. Let us all participate and become the messengers of peace to pass on peace as an eternal legacy for the future generations!”

So many people had to suffer and be sad because there was no peace. They have the ‘Right to Peace’. In 2018, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) recognized the Universal Declaration does not include a separate article on “Right to Peace”. So HWPL is creating a new order for the world.

In order to fundamentally resolve international conflicts and crises, The HWPL international law peace committee was founded to discuss ways to achieve peace through international law. It is composed of prominent legal experts of different nationalities. After three formal committee meetings, the DPCW was drafted. On March 14, 2016, 10 articles and 38 clauses of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) was declared. Currently, there is a worldwide campaign to introduce the DPCW to the United Nations. Now, they collected 734,055 signatures (as of October, 2017) and 173,170 people of 176 countries participated.

Law experts agreed that the DPCW is fully aligned with the UN Charter & the UDHR and this Declaration not only encapsulates and supports all of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). People around the world want the DPCW to be adopted by UN. The new international peace law will change the history of mankind.

Connection with Nobel Peace Prize 2017

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE Who is the Nobel Peace Prize winner of 2018? Gennady Burbulis FARC eSwatini DPCW Confederation of Indian Bar Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos Chairman Man Hee Lee chairman Lee Central American Parliament Baltic-Black Sea Forum Why ICAN won? ICAN is the abbreviation for International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons. They awarded “for its ground-breaking efforts to achieve a treaty-based prohibition of such weapons.” Successfully on 7 July 2017, The Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) is adopted at the United Nations by a vote of 122-1! The ICAN said ‘TPNW‘ is “a landmark international agreement that outlaws, categorically, the worst weapons of mass destruction and establishes a pathway to their elimination.

But since adoption, it was criticized for non-binding.
When voted of 122-1, one third of 193 U.N. member countries boycotted the vote. ‘Authorized’ nuclear nations, U.S, Russia, China, UK, France boycotted. Also ‘Unauthorized’ nuclear nations, India, Pakistan,  Israel, North Korea boycotted. The number of actual signature is 53 countries.
The U.S. State Department said “Unfortunately, This treaty will not make the world more peaceful, will not result in the elimination of a single nuclear weapon, and will not enhance any state’s security.” Also the Britain and France said the prohibition wouldn’t work. The Russia said ‘It is the romance which is misleading but also dangerous.’ But the Norwegian Nobel Committee supported the ICAN‘s peace movement. It is important!!!
Nobel’s support is equal to that of the rest of the world.

What is the ICAN’s ground-breaking efforts?

NPT vs TPNW

TPNW contributed to the continued role of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), emphasizing its “vital role in promoting international peace and security”.

  • There is the distinction between states entitled to possess such weapons and non-nuclear weapon states in NPT. But in TPNW it is not.
  • The TPNW also forbids states party to the treaty from allowing “any stationing, installation or deployment” of nuclear weapons on their territory, a prohibition that is not explicitly included in the NPT.
  • States party to the TPNW are prohibited from conducting nuclear tests, while the Comprehensive Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) has not yet entered into force.

If so, the nuclear disarmament is a natural consequence. Actually, DPCW has an article of elimination of nuclear weapons. I know many people think it is a naive desire. But the success of ICAN already show you that ‘the world wants peace’. We must keep the Nobel’s will.

DPCW Article 1 – Prohibition of the threat or use of force

3. States should prohibit any act or threat of violence, whatever its motives or purposes, that occurs for the advancement of an individual or collective criminal agenda.

DPCW Article 2 – War potential

2. States should not produce, assist in, encourage, or induce; the production of weapons of mass destruction, inter alia, chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons, or weapons capable of causing indiscriminate or widespread and unnecessary suffering, or weapons incompatible with international humanitarian law.
3. States should take measures to ensure that existing weapons of mass destruction, weapons capable of causing widespread and unnecessary suffering and weapons incompatible with international humanitarian law are gradually dismantled or destroyed. States should cooperate in disarmament and the reduction of arms stockpiles, ideally under international supervision. Decommissioned weapons manufacturing facilities should be repurposed, so that they may serve purposes that are beneficial to humanity in general.

“Today one country saying ‘yes, Chairman Lee I accept your declaration’ is not enough, even 10 countries saying this is not good enough. Therefore, we need the United Nations.

In fact, the United Nations came out in 1948 from the Human Rights Declaration and that is a very good document but things have changed from 1948 until now and, therefore, it is necessary that the United Nations adopts the Declaration made by us…so that when the United Nations accepts it, it becomes binding to all the countries in the world.

That is the effort Chairman Lee had been doing and we should all support Chairman Lee in ensuring that this becomes a United Nations document.”

He declared support for the DPCW on behalf of the Baltic-Black Sea Board of Directors. He stated, “The MOU and MOA express our intention to work together in this important issue. Sometimes we can think that this problem or question of promoting peace is difficult or sometimes we can think that is very utopian, but we shouldn’t forget that there are many international or law organizations that unfortunately today, even the UN, do not function according to the purpose for which it was established.

So that brings the threats to all humanity…. We cannot ignore these facts. So, in our work together we should take into consideration this reality. With all of that, we eagerly support the DPCW and we really believe that it is a very important declaration,” reaffirming support for the adoption of the DPCW at the UN.
