Do you know why people say ‘Mr.Man Hee Lee is a messenger of peace’? Because he has the definite answer to peace. I will tell you the coolest Man Hee Lee Quotes. He is a Korean War veteran, knows the horrors of war than a person ever knew. Also, he is the chairman of Heavenly Culture, World Peace and Restoration of Light (HWPL).

HWPL is an international peace nonprofit organization which is the most influential in the world, especially for young people and women. In his biography, It’s clear who he is. ‘I received many rewards from around the world—certificates of awards, plaques, and medals. However, these are not the true rewards. The true reward is the establishment of world peace. This is an eternal reward.‘ This is why he moves for peace.

The signing of a Joint Statement as well as the MOU signing ceremony between HWPL and 13 supporting media outlets followed the presentations.

After signing the MOU, Chairman Lee pleaded earnestly to those in attendance, “Achieving peace and cessation of war is an impossible task without media professionals like yourselves because we cannot meet everyone in person to deliver this message. The media and press must constantly report on the news of peace-building efforts to make a peaceful society. Let us achieve our goal of peace by doing it. Rather than waiting for tomorrow to come, let us bring forth tomorrow and work steadily to accomplish our goal. I trust each and every reporter here to hold the media accountable.”

H.E. Emil Constantinescu 2018 Interview with Media #3

Emil Constantinescu Biography

World War 2 (1939-1945)
: The most devastating war in human history

A child became a refugee by the terrible war.

Poor living conditions were hard to bear for the refugee boy, yet he felt desperate for peace. The boy lived in a town located in [dniester] River of the Soviet Border until the age of 50 under dictatorship. He saw and felt the fall of communism himself, and he became aware of the power of culture. He was in the process of settling the democratic conscious.

In 1996, the boy grew up to become the 3rd President of Romania. Emil Constantinescu became the President in order to achieve peace.

First, he devoted his efforts to bring reconciliation and harmony within the Balkan Peninsula suffering from conflicts of nation, religion and race. He was in the forefront of liberty and democracy of Romania. He has conducted Peace Education to spread peace.
(In fact, he has done more work. More info 1, info 2)

“Introducing the DPCW to the UN is an important
step in the right direction.”
– Emil Constantinescu, former president of Romania

He was the dean of Bucharest University. He spent 6 years of my life in [Bucharest] University and [other] University throughout the world.

Now, he is the chairperson of Institute for Cultural Diplomacy (ICD) which is the largest NGO in Europe. Also, he is a member of HWPL Advisory Council.

HWPL (more info) is an international peace nonprofit organization registered with the United Nations Department of Public Information (DPI) and the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). It is surprising to the world with its enormous execution and actions no one has heard or seen.”

As of 2018, he is in the forefront to establish a culture of peace, calling for the cessation of war. Now, it is time to begin a new history of peace.

Emil said “I am one of the survivors of this tragic history of Europe that have a deep and sincere empathy for the Korean people, and one of the few that can perhaps intuit what is going on in the hearts of North Koreans across the border.”

Having dreamed of a world without war, he met Man Hee Lee, Chairman of HWPL in 2014 like destiny, and became a partner of peace.

Q. I know that you are actively involved as the President of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Levant Culture and Civilization (ISACCL). What kind of organization is it, and with what purpose did you establish it?

(Emil Constantinescu) founded the Institute for Advanced Studies in Levant Culture and Civilization in order to transfer to Romania the experience and the projects I have undertaken as President of the Academy of Cultural Diplomacy in Berlin, where I had the opportunity to launch “The Levant Initiative for Global Peace”.

The Institute for Advanced Studies in Levant Culture and Civilization aims to rewrite the history of the Levant, through which we understand a broader space that does not solely refer to the Middle East, but also to Northern Africa, the Balkans and the Caucasus.

Let us rewrite history through the lens of what brings us together, not what sets us apart. This is not an easy feat, because history, as it has been written until now, is a history of incessant warfare, in which the protagonists are the lords of war, not the lords of peace.

The above is an excerpt from full interview

Q. How did your relationship with the HWPL organization begin?

I first met Chairman Man Hee Lee in Germany, at a reception hosted by the Institute and Academy of Cultural Diplomacy (ICD) in Berlin, where I learned of the noble goals that the HWPL had set for itself. They coincided, for the most part, with the goals I had dedicated my efforts in cultural diplomacy to, aiming towards not only the resolution of open or frozen conflicts, but especially towards the creation of a culture of peace through the understanding of the Other, the only way, in my view, to ensure a lasting, durable and sustainable peace.

Q. What do you think of Chairman Lee?

I believe Chairman Lee is a leader in the true sense of the word, which is easy to see in the way he wins the hearts and the minds of the younger generation, in particular because of his destiny: a man who fought in the Korean War which, like all wars, pits man against man; but what is even more striking is that, in the case of the Korean war, it was pitting brother against brother. When youth and women’s associations were established, I think Man Hee Lee astutely picked up on the fact that herein lay the key, as youths are sent to die in wars by populist and ultranationalist leaders with dictatorial tendencies while women during war are not only victims but also suffer for their parents, children and brothers. We must never forget that while 20.000.000 soldiers died in World War II, 40.000.000 civilians, mostly women, children and the elderly, perished in that conflict as well.

Q. I know that you participated the first WARP Summit.

In 2014, I was markedly impressed by the participation of the young people at the events. On the Olympic stadium, there were approximately 120,000 pupils and students, and nearly 200,000 took part in the March for Peace. When I had the honour of holding my speech on the Olympic Stadium, I felt the vibration of the crowd and I thought back to what had happened to the first president of Romania, Nicolae Ceauṣescu, when he attended the festivities organized by Kim Il-Sung in Pyeongyang in his honour. Because I had lived among the students which, during the Communist dictatorship, were forced to take part in events organized following the North Korean model, I had a realisation of how great the fundamental difference is between youth that are forced to attend rallies for fear of consequences that could drastically affect their futures and careers, and volunteers. You cannot fake volunteering, and for me this was the most striking impression of my trip to South Korea, and the main reason I decided to return this year, to attend the fourth anniversary of the 2014 Summit.

Q. What was your impression of the 4th anniversary of the WARP Summit?

Even though this time the rally was held on Incheon Stadium, with only 30.000 participants, I found myself surrounded by the same sincere enthusiasm and the same dedication to peace. Your people are models of solidarity.I think it was an important event not only for Korea, but for the entire world, as it demonstrates once again that the promotion of peace is the only solution, that the threat of war is not the only solution, as happened during the Cold War. In the end, dialogue is the most important.

Q. Do you think the Declaration for Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) will be presented to the United Nations?

The level of publicity surrounding this Declaration, in correlation with the fact that through its signing religious leaders, people in positions of authority, presidents and democratic heads of government are joined by a large number of young people supporting the same ideal, makes it possible that military leaders, heads of state and military subcontractors are made to listen to the voice of the people. I believe the United Nations will indeed accept this Declaration, and I consider it an important step in the right direction because, despite the permanent criticism of UN ineffectiveness, we must keep in mind that it is the only forum that offers a platform for smaller states from across the globe to make their voices heard.

“Today one country saying ‘yes, Chairman Lee I accept your declaration’ is not enough, even 10 countries saying this is not good enough. Therefore, we need the United Nations.
In fact, the United Nations came out in 1948 from the Human Rights Declaration and that is a very good document but things have changed from 1948 until now and, therefore, it is necessary that the United Nations adopts the Declaration made by us…so that when the United Nations accepts it, it becomes binding to all the countries in the world.

That is the effort Chairman Lee had been doing and we should all support Chairman Lee in ensuring that this becomes a United Nations document.”

“The MOU and MOA express our intention to work together in this important issue. Sometimes we can think that this problem or question of promoting peace is difficult or sometimes we can think that is very utopian, but we shouldn’t forget that there are many international or law organizations that unfortunately today, even the UN, do not function according to the purpose for which it was established. So that brings the threats to all humanity…. We cannot ignore these facts. So, in our work together we should take into consideration this reality. With all of that, we eagerly support the DPCW and we really believe that it is a very important declaration.”

“I lived under a communist dictatorship that deprived the country and its citizens of freedom for 50 years. People were not allowed to move about freely and the political police monitored their private affairs, invading the privacy of all citizens. Both Romania and Korea were greatly influenced by World War II. This war caused the death of more than 25 million soldiers and over 73 million civilians, as well as created huge economic losses and led to the destruction of many world cultural heritage sites. The atrocities of the two wars in the first half of the 21st century proved to be insufficient for leaders to understand that peace cannot be strengthened only by managing frozen conflicts,” explaining the darkest times of Romania.

He then continued by reminding all in attendance of the power of the people who fought for freedom stating, “The incredible lack of fear and the solidarity of people forced the dictator to flee and freedom was gained. In one of history’s bright moments, people were willing to sacrifice themselves for the ideals of freedom and democracy. The answer regarding the future of freedom and democracy is the choice of each generation and, in the end, of each of us.”

He concluded the lecture by proclaiming, “In order to achieve the peaceful reunification of the Korean Peninsula, leaders, politicians and even the youth must have the consciousness to achieve peace.”

“The event which is taking place today at this stadium is mainly addressed to the youth, who do not want to be forced by their countries’ leaders to fight against each other, and the women who would like to protect, not only themselves, despite being innocent victims, but to protect also their husbands, children and brothers from the horrors that any war inevitably brings about. Youth and women can become the most persuasive advisories of peace in the present and in the future.

Both avoiding war and establishing peacebuilding processes require a laborious effort to create a culture of solidarity outlining a pragmatic style in which the statements should followed by effective actions. The fact that so many distinguished representatives of the world’s public opinion, religious leaders, politicians, diplomats and cultural personalities, are today gathered represents such an efficient action.

Differently from 4 years ago we now have more people, are more united, and are more determined to stop the wars wherever they are. I believe that the Declaration of World Peace proclaimed in Seoul can get everyone around the world, no matter if they are men, women, youth or children, ready to unite under the mantle of peace and take the responsibility to promote the message of peace to the entire world. But no one can know until the envelope containing the winner’s name is opened. Speculation has it that Moon Jae-In and Kim Jong-Un deserve the prize because of their unprecedented efforts to ease military tension on the Korean Peninsula and above all their public commitment to denuclearize the North. But skeptics say ‘Not yet’ because the North has taken no concrete step toward denuclearization. Let’s see the public opinion. British online betting site nicerodds rates the Moon Jae-In and Kim Jong-Un as the most likely, followed by Kim Jong-Un and Donald Trump.

Robert Reich, a former U.S. cabinet member, has praised President Moon Jae-in’s “broker diplomacy” between U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. He continued “But if there is ever going to be a lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula, the person who will deserve the Nobel Peace Prize won’t be Trump. It will be South Korea’s president, Moon Jae-in.”

South Korean President Moon Jae-in said the ‘Nobel Peace Prize should go to U.S. President Donald Trump‘, if anyone were to win it for their efforts to resolve the issues with North Korea. He said “the Nobel Peace Prize is for Trump and we only need to bring peace.”

Youth and women can become the most persuasive advisories of peace in the present and in the future. Both avoiding war and establishing peace-building processes require a laborious effort to create a culture of solidarity outlining a pragmatic style in which the statements should followed by effective actions. I believe that the Declaration of World Peace proclaimed in Seoul can get everyone around the world, no matter if they are men, women, youth or children, ready to unite under the mantle of peace and take the responsibility to promote the message of peace to the entire world. We are one.

The Chairman Man hee Lee is the messenger of peace who is making the actual result of peace. In 2014, he risked his life to go the area where many people died for 40 years in the bloody conflict in Mindanao. He prayed to God before to go Mindanao. He said “I won’t go if God don’t abide with me.” Then, he met with representatives of the two religions to resolve the religious conflict and drew a peace treaty.

The Chairman Man hee Lee of HWPL asked, “People who are gathered here, is there any want who want war?.”

No one answered. The Chairman Lee continued that “War sacrifices many lives and destroys many buildings. If there is anyone who wants war, please raise your hand.” With silence–, no one raised their hands. The Chairman Man hee Lee shouted strongly, “When there’s war, who is the one who is fighting in front of battle line that is the youth. The Chairman Lee continued, “Now, we need to make a peaceful world to live. And when we inherit peaceful world to our future generation, nothing would be more valuable. Colombian Civil War has cost the lives of at least 220,000 Colombians and displaced close to 6 million people. The Norwegian Nobel Committee said ‘the award should also be seen as a tribute to the Colombian people who, despite great hardships and abuses, have not given up hope of a just peace, and to all the parties who have contributed to the peace process. This tribute is paid, not least, to the representatives of the countless victims of the civil war.’

By the mediation of Cuban President Raul Castro, Rodrigo Londono (FARC) and Santos pledge to a peace agreement on 26th of September, 2016. Pen used in their signature is made from real bullet shell used in civil war. In pen grip “The bullet record our past. Education is our future.” is written in Spanish.

The only thing left was a referendum. That’s when the Nobel Prize 2016 was announced. But the peace agreement was rejected.

Yes 49.78%       No 50.21%

Also, voter turnout was 37%. Dissenting votes is 57,000 more than vote yes.

The people said ‘it is too generous for rebels.’ The Agreement said ‘War crimes like drug trafficking and kidnapping of civilians in the FARC will be exempted from obligation.’ And It ensures the legitimate political participation. They, who lost a family or whose family were taken hostage in FARC, were against the peace agreement. So, Santos government only passed Colombia peace agreement by parliamentary vote instead of the referendum. But some said “Colombia people refuse it. How can the Congress approve it?”(AFP)

But after two years, what happened in Mindanao?

After 2 years, 15,000 people are in line to greet the HWPL in Philipines. On 24 January 2016, Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) held an unveiling ceremony for the Monument to the Declaration of World Peace located in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao Province. This monument is the second HWPL Peace Monument to be erected in the Philippines. Also, the Chairman Al Haj Murad Ebrahim of MILF decided to designate January 24th of every year as ‘HWPL Day’. I think Colombia needs to learn ‘how HWPL achieves peace in Mindanao’.

MILF chairman of Al-Hajj Murad Ebrahim

“The Chairman Lee brought a really powerful message to achieve peace that we hope and desire. It means HWPL and MILF are partner for peace. Peace is not a matter confined to a single person but to every individual. Therefore anyone who is part of this global family must all become messengers of peace. Let us all participate and become the messengers of peace to pass on peace as an eternal legacy for the future generations!”

So many people had to suffer and be sad because there was no peace. They have the ‘Right to Peace’. In 2018, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) recognized the Universal Declaration does not include a separate article on “Right to Peace”. So HWPL is creating a new order for the world.

In order to fundamentally resolve international conflicts and crises, The HWPL international law peace committee was founded to discuss ways to achieve peace through international law. It is composed of prominent legal experts of different nationalities. After three formal committee meetings, the DPCW was drafted. On March 14, 2016, 10 articles and 38 clauses of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) was declared. Currently, there is a worldwide campaign to introduce the DPCW to the United Nations. Now, they collected 734,055 signatures (as of October, 2017) and 173,170 people of 176 countries participated.

Law experts agreed that the DPCW is fully aligned with the UN Charter & the UDHR and this Declaration not only encapsulates and supports all of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). People around the world want the DPCW to be adopted by UN. The new international peace law will change the history of mankind.

Gennady Burbulis FARC eSwatini DPCW Confederation of Indian Bar Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos Chairman Man Hee Lee chairman Lee Central American Parliament Baltic-Black Sea Forum Why ICAN won? ICAN is the abbreviation for International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons. They awarded “for its ground-breaking efforts to achieve a treaty-based prohibition of such weapons.” Successfully on 7 July 2017, The Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) is adopted at the United Nations by a vote of 122-1! The ICAN said ‘TPNW‘ is “a landmark international agreement that outlaws, categorically, the worst weapons of mass destruction and establishes a pathway to their elimination.

But since adoption, it was criticized for non-binding.
When voted of 122-1, one third of 193 U.N. member countries boycotted the vote. ‘Authorized’ nuclear nations, U.S, Russia, China, UK, France boycotted. Also ‘Unauthorized’ nuclear nations, India, Pakistan,  Israel, North Korea boycotted. The number of actual signature is 53 countries.
The U.S. State Department said “Unfortunately, This treaty will not make the world more peaceful, will not result in the elimination of a single nuclear weapon, and will not enhance any state’s security.” Also the Britain and France said the prohibition wouldn’t work. The Russia said ‘It is the romance which is misleading but also dangerous.’ But the Norwegian Nobel Committee supported the ICAN‘s peace movement. It is important!!!
Nobel’s support is equal to that of the rest of the world.

What is the ICAN’s ground-breaking efforts?

TPNW contributed to the continued role of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), emphasizing its “vital role in promoting international peace and security”.

  • There is the distinction between states entitled to possess such weapons and non-nuclear weapon states in NPT. But in TPNW it is not.
  • The TPNW also forbids states party to the treaty from allowing “any stationing, installation or deployment” of nuclear weapons on their territory, a prohibition that is not explicitly included in the NPT.
  • States party to the TPNW are prohibited from conducting nuclear tests, while the Comprehensive Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) has not yet entered into force.

But the success of ICAN already show you that ‘the world wants peace’. We must keep the Nobel’s will.

He declared support for the DPCW on behalf of the Baltic-Black Sea Board of Directors. He stated, “The MOU and MOA express our intention to work together in this important issue.

With all of that, we eagerly support the DPCW and we really believe that it is a very important declaration,” reaffirming support for the adoption of the DPCW at the UN.

All 3.7 billion women in the world need to come together and unite with IWPG to support and advocate the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) because the issues of refugees from war, terrorism, and internal conflicts have not been resolved. In this conference, there was a unanimous voice for the need to spread the activities of women for peace, as well as to spread the culture of peace. One former president said “A comprehensive vision of what the planet is, is a fundamental player when it comes to finding solutions and contributing to the balance being restored and for peace to prevail. The time has come when, not only is it necessary for everyone to find solutions, but also for their leadership to be taken into account so that we can build a better, more equitable and more just society.”

For the 3.7 billion women in the world to come together to strengthen the human rights of women through women’s peace education, MOUs with major schools and organizations were signed to spread this project for peace. On this day, an MOU for “IWPG Women’s Peace Education” was signed with the 5 schools. This was an occasion to establish the first steps towards bearing fruit for peace education, which is one of the main projects of IWPG.

What can we do for peace?

Ms. Hyun Sook Yoon, IWPG Chairwoman, talked about the role of women in realizing peace in the Korean Peninsula and the world. “Motherhood of women is a strong force and answer to peace that will protect youth from the frontlines of war and lead humanity into a world of peace. The ‘10 Million Signature Campaign for Urging for a Peace Agreement for the Cessation of War on the Korean Peninsula‘, based upon the Declaration of Unification declared by Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL 8 years ago, was held. The desire of the world for the cessation of war on the Korean peninsula has been encapsulated in the Declaration of Unification.”

She then drove her point home by saying, “The DPCW’s 10 articles and 38 clauses, proposed by HWPL, is a groundbreaking and substantial measure to fundamentally address the causes of war, terrorism and conflict. Please join and lend your strength so that this law for peace can be passed in the UN. I first have to know this declaration of peace. I must inform my neighbors and let the nations and the presidents know and participate,” encouraging the audience that they have to be fully knowledgeable about the DPCW to be able to make their neighbors, leaders, and presidents understand and give their support.

IWPG : Leave a world of peace as legacy

Lastly, Chairman Man hee Lee of HWPL gave a special request to those in attendance stating, “The strength of one person, is only that one person’s strength. But if we come together for this work of peace, then it will become a great power. Everyone woman living in the global village should become one through the common objective and shout together with a common voice. You should write letters to former and current presidents. We need to write not only to our president but to those all over the world.”

He then continued, “Also you should tell not only the people of your own countries but the people from other countries as well about the method of becoming one together with the women of the IWPG. Two is more powerful than one, but if there are many it will never be broken. Since the goal is peace, nothing is more precious and important than the work of making the world of peace that can be left as a legacy for future generations. I believe in the women’s group and the youth group.” After finishing, he shouted “WE ARE ONE”, urging all participants to become one.

  Afghanistan
Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS)
  Syrian Civil War
  Yemeni Civil War
•  Boko Haram Insurgency

Afghanistan (7 October 2001 – present)

Growing political tensions and infighting has created an increasingly volatile environment in Afghanistan. This conflict started on 7 October 2001. In the past 16 years, al-Qaeda and Taliban government was destructed. Osama bin Laden was dead. Despite the fact that Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mansour was killed by a drone strike in May 2016, the group has regularly launched relentless attacks around the country. Adding to the instability, the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has continuously attempted to establish the foundation in Afghanistan.

  Civilians killed :   31,000+
  Wounded            :   47,773+    (wikipedia)

Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) (1999 – present)

ISIS causes a major obstacle to peace not only in Iraq and Syria but also in Libya, Yemen and Afghanistan. Within the past year, the group has launched some of its most deadly terrorist attacks outside of the Middle East region, including in Bangladesh, Belgium, France, Germany, Turkey, Pakistan and the U.S. It’s hard to measure due to global terrorism, but the U.N. estimates ISIS is responsible for more than 18,000 civilian deaths in Iraq in the past two years alone.

  Total killed             :   410,800
  Civilians killed      :   106,000
  Missing                    :     56,900

Syrian Civil War (15 March 2011 – present)

Now in its sixth year, the Syrian Civil War has created one of the most dire and complex humanitarian crises on earth. Recent reports put the death toll at 470,000, with more than one in ten Syrians having been wounded or killed. An estimated 8 million Syrians have become displaced within the country, and another 4.5 million have sought refuge in neighboring countries and beyond.

  Total killed                    :          511,000 (March 2018 SOHR)
  Civilians killed             :         106,390 – 116,506

  Refugee                           :     5,116,097 (July 2017 UNHCR)

Yemeni Civil War (2015 – present)

In 2014, Houthi rebels took control of the capital Sana’a and a large portion of northern Yemen. President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi and his cabinet fled to neighboring Saudi Arabia, where a Saudi-led coalition was formed to counter the Houthi rebellion. The Yemeni Civil War started. It is a humanitarian catastrophe. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) estimates that 14.1 million civilians are dangerously close to starvation.

Boko Haram Insurgency  (2009 – present)

The jihadist rebel group Boko Haram started an armed rebellion against the government of Nigeria. It want to establish an Islamic state based on Sharia law and has spread to Niger, Cameroon and Chad. Nigeria was also targeted in the infamous Chibok schoolgirls kidnapping in 2014, in which about 270 girls were abducted. Boko Haram now controls up to 20 percent of Nigeria and continues to violate human rights and leave millions without access to food, water, shelter or medical care throughout the entire Lake Chad region.

We are born in the same world, same generation, but their lives cannot blossom, but their lives are lost in the battle!”

The Chairman Lee continued, “Now, we need to make a peaceful world to live. And when we inherit peaceful world to our future generation, nothing would be more valuable. That is why we need to urge all of our presidents. We need to urge them for the world to become peaceful sooner. I’m not saying something wrong. Am I?
