A STEP TOWARDS PEACE Intercultural Dialogue : Standing ovation at UN Headquarters United Nations UN Headquarters Standing ovation Legislate Peace Campaign Intercultural Dialogue HWPL DPCW ‘Intercultural Dialogue for Peace and Development‘ Held at UN Headquarters to Create a Foundation of Understanding and Tolerance. In commemoration of ‘2018 World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development’, this dialogue was attended by heads of the social organizations, religious leaders, women groups, youth, and media. Around 145 representative officials to the United Nations of the respective countries gathered to hold a dialogue on the agenda of peace and development at UN Headquarters in New York on May 31. Canada, Austria, Colombia, the Republic of Senegal, Korea and etc. It’s like the world gathered in one place.

What is the necessity of world?

How does the world go now? The necessity of the measure arises for integrating cultural diversity into development frameworks and policies. According to the trend of world, this conference aimed to reinforce international cooperation to ensure intercultural dialogue as a foundation for the effective exercise of universal human rights. In fact, many of the leaders told their experiences.

H.E. Mr. Francisco Alberto Gonzalez of Permanent Representative of the Permanent Mission of Colombia stated, “My countries have gone through one of the longest armed conflicts in our hemisphere. Two Colombians, one with a strong state presence, and another with a series of inequalities and no opportunities. That is why recognizing our opportunities and dialogues are needed. We, a very diverse country, know by experience that disarmament is not enough to create peace. We must not underestimate the need for peace and stable development.”

All leaders in each country should sign the agreement for the international law to achieve peace if they love the country and the people. To do this, the United Nations must work together to accomplish the task of peace with its spirit of peace at its inception.” After this truthful speech, everyone gave a huge standing ovation!!! I think it’s because everyone wants peace!

In the short three years from its official beginning, the WARP Offices have seen rapid expansion with 218 offices now operating in 126 countries. With approximately 2,500 representative religious leaders as participants, it enhanced the level of understanding of, and harmony between, various religions. Do you know what culture was created? Religious leaders want to seek true peace-building and harmony among religions based on correct understanding. And they dedicated themselves to thoroughly researching what a “trustworthy scripture” should contain.

91 percent of all religious leaders agreed that the following six attributes.
1) Good and Evil
2) Birth, Aging, Sickness and Death
3) The Spiritual Realm
4) Cleansing of Sins
5) History and Genealogy
6) Prophecy and Fulfillment

Second meeting took place yesterday.

Objectives

To further develop the current dialogue of scriptures meetings, which are being actively held in each country, through the engagement of religious leaders from different countries and backgrounds. Also, through the real-time audience questions, a more in-depth discussion on the topic is anticipated.

To spread the culture of interfaith communication, and through online streaming the meeting, to provide the opportunity for audiences to learn about and understand other religions in their civil society.

Host

HWPL: An international NGO and peace organization affiliated with the UN ECOSOC, which engages leaders from various fields in each country for peace activities such as international law enactment, WARP Offices, peace education, youth and women's empowerment, etc.

WARP Office: A platform for the comparison of scriptures, with the aim to bring a peaceful environment in the global community by solving the difference in thoughts and ideologies that cause religious conflicts.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Panel: One month before the meeting, the details will be posted on the Facebook Group, 'You Asked, WARP Office Answers' (WARP Office Facebook page), and announced through the WARP Offices in each country. Religious leaders who wish to attend as a panelist, representing their religion, will have to submit an Application Form to info@hwpl.kr

Audience: Watch the online WARP Office meeting live through HWPL’s official Youtube channel. And participate by asking questions in real-time on the Youtube chatroom. The link will also be posted on HWPL’s official Twitter.

Religion is the cradle of human civilization and will always be a core influence in determining the trends, outlooks and progression of our society. As the world becomes more developed, the other side is highlighted. Religious hatred, Persecution, and Conflicts. Seeing the current status of the religious world, HWPL recognizes that the diverse principles and values in each religious scripture play an important role in people’s search for peace. Because these scriptures represent the accumulation of not only the spiritual and moral teachings of the respective faiths, but also a fundamental standard of human conduct. It is the reason why WARP Office was beginning.

One religious leader emphasized, “We should support the WARP Office discussions, as the significant link and the great network for the worldwide religious institutions and spiritual leaders, to show the cooperation and solidarity of all religious leaders, and to send the message of tolerance, peace and unity to all people around the world.”

Since the initial establishment of the WARP Offices in November 2014, religious leaders have gathered worldwide. Why do they gather? They have same passion, for what? ‘What is believable scriptures?’ They gathered to conduct comparison dialogues regarding their various religious scriptures. There are many corrupt religious people. But these leaders are different. Why do they compare? 80% of the war is religious war. So, religious leaders intend to unite religion with responsibility. They are gathered at this Online WARP Office Meeting.

Why Online WARP Office?

On 24 March 2018 HWPL’s World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (WARP) Office held its first Intercontinental Online WARP Office Meeting. Why is this meeting meaningful? It is transcending continental boundaries. What surprising is that an open channel of communication with the audience was implemented. It enabled them to participate directly in the discussions with the religious leaders. What do you think will happen then?

With investments in education, health and youth employment, education is the only way forward (human beings). The idea of a world without war is not a dream. We can achieve it.”

Another said, “Article 2 of the DPCW deals with the establishment of a reduction in war potential and the transformation of weapons for human benefit. It costs 1.8 billion dollars a year to make weapons. How many schools and homes can we build with DPCW? Let’s implement DPCW to fight poverty and eliminate the pain of conflict in Syria and the Korean Peninsula.”

Chairman Lee said “All schools and teachers should teach students about peace. All heads of organizations should also tell their members to make peace. At this point, we must achieve peace in the global community. It’s for all of us. We believe that presidents will sign up to support DPCW.”

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE New York City gathering for Korea and Yemen Yemeni American Association Yemen Reunification of Korea peace letters New York City Korean war IWPG IPYG HWPL DPCW Conflicts There Affect Us Here Columbia University 2018 inter-Korean summit 28th WORLD PEACE TOUR of HWPL is blowing the wind of peace all over the world. The bright light is settled down in New York. Its title is ‘Conflicts There Affect Us Here’ and subtitle is that ‘Revitalizing the ‘City of Dreams’ Through the Strength of Diversity’. New York City Leaders and Civil Society are gathering for reunification of Korea and peaceful settlement in Yemen. It was hosted by HWPL, IPYG, IWPG, and the Yemeni American Association(YAA) at Columbia University. Governmental and UN officials, international organizations and civil groups are on the panel.

Reunification of Korea

The Korean peninsula is divided for 65 years for the Korean War. As the international community is paying keen attention to the establishment of peace on the Korean Peninsula like the 2018 inter-Korean summit and the Korea-U.S. summit, HWPL has called for the realization of peace on the Korean Peninsula based on the civil society’s network, including youth and women throughout the world. HWPL hoped that this event can be a platform for dialogue and mutual understanding between different cultural groups.

Why Yemen?

28 years have passed since Yemen was unified. So what’s the problem? However, there are still constant threats to the peace that has been achieved. So the civil society from Korea and Yemen will come together in New York City. The Yemeni American Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving over 50,000 Yemeni American in the U.S. The conclusion that they came up with was ‘cooperation of all sectors‘ for peace. They emphasized that a united civil society is the key ingredient of a better, more accepting world.

It is a collaboration with IPYG. Young people, from 84 cities in 50 countries, write peace letters to presidents of each country. How long? Until the president writes signature at DPCW! Most predominantly, letters will be collected and sent to the head of state of South Korea, Yemen, Mali and Senegal. I don’t think we have much time left. Because peace is likely to be achieved too soon. HWPL & YAA show the world that peace is not limited to national boundaries but true peace lies within the heart of each individual, each community.

HWPL WARP Office is dedicated to promoting true interfaith harmony through scripture dialogues-realization of peace through finding the trustworthy scripture. WARP Offices are held regularly at the 216 sites spread over 123 countries (by June 3rd, 2017). Why is WARP Office needed? Let’s find the reason.

The Declaration of world peace, which was proclaimed on May 25, 2013 by HWPL, has called for the youth of the world to become the messenger of peace. Also, it suggests that we need the international law (DPCW) that can end the war. Why youth? The youth is the biggest victims of the war.

World alliance of religions and peace(WARP) Office is founded to achieve Article 8 of DPCW, ‘Freedom of Religion’. Religious leaders should take the lead in fostering harmony among religions through the WARP Offices established in various parts of the world. The alliance of religions is the earnest hope of all humanity. It is called by an ‘Innovative Approach‘ to Religious Dialogue. The key point is ‘Scriptural texts‘ of each religion. The WARP Office aim to prevent the conflicts caused by religious misunderstandings. They are marching to peace teaching each scripture of religion. Among them, what is related to my hometown, Korea, is more noticeable to me. When I was in Korea, I could not hear much about HWPL, but I could hear a lot in Australia. I think it is because HWPL is an international NGO. It was really nice enhance their national prestige without showing off their pride. It is a pity why Koreans do not know this. This is how our relationship began. After that, I became a fan.

The wind of peace is already blowing all over the world. ‘World peace and restoration has begun at the same time this declaration is proclaimed.’, the Declaration of world peace. If 4,600,000 young people (IPYG) cry out for peace, what do you think will happen next? There will be an enormous wind.

The City of New York, often called New York City (NYC), is the most populous city in the United States. New York City has been described as the cultural, financial, and media capital of the world. Bridges, Skyscrapers, Parks, Wall Street and Silicon Alley is so famous. But as the light is strong, so is the shadow. Poverty, Crime and Drug addiction, and Racial conflict.
