On the 918 WARP Summit, Ms. Hyun Sook Yoon, IWPG Chairwoman, said “In the world of the 21st century, people across the continent are able to meet people on the other side of the globe in just a few hours. In addition, with the development of information and communication, a large amount of information can be delivered in real time through the internet. However, in this world of convenience, we are constantly exposed to heartaches such as wars, terrorism, abuse of human rights, and news of sad deaths of beloved children throughout the world.

The noble maternal instincts that women have can protect children from the front lines of war. It is the most powerful force and answer to peace that can lead mankind into a world of peace. Because half of the world’s population are women with the potential of peace, if we become one, mankind can turn into a peaceful world without war.”

IWPG is working to make sure that all children and women have the right values through peace education. I believe that there is no change as fast as education. IWPG is taking the answer to peace suggested by HWPL, the “Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW)”, and is actively spreading a culture of peace in diverse ways such as implementing peace education and training peace educators.

“We have cooperation agreements with schools around the world and are working to establishing peace schools and education. We have launched the “10 Million Signature Campaign for Urging for a Peace Agreement for the Cessation of War on the Korean Peninsula” for peace on the Korean peninsula and currently it is being achieved as written on the “Declaration of Unification”.

In order to end the global war and make a world of peace, ourselves first have to know this declaration of peace. We must inform my neighbors, and let the nations and the presidents know and participate. I hope that 3.7 billion women around the world will be the protagonist of peace with us. Let us all become the messengers of peace and realize world peace together.”

The Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL gave a special request to those in attendance stating, “The strength of one person, is only that one person’s strength. But if we come together for this work of peace, then it will become a great power. Everyone woman living in the global village should become one through the common objective and shout together with a common voice. You should write letters to former and current presidents. We need to write not only to our president but to those all over the world.”

He then continued, “Also you should tell not only the people of your own countries but the people from other countries as well about the method of becoming one together with the women of the IWPG. Two is more powerful than one, but if there are many it will never be broken. Since the goal is peace, nothing is more precious and important than the work of making the world of peace that can be left as a legacy for future generations. I believe in the women’s group and the youth group.”

IWPG World Peace Conference in Australia

Harmony, Communication, and Peace with the 3.7 Billion Women in the World

On the 18th of Feb, 2019, IWPG World Peace Conference in Australia was held in order to inspire a sense of duty as a women leader to achieve world peace, and to recognize its role as a messenger of peace. IWPG shared the initiatives and activities of IWPG over the past year and presented the main directions for 2019.

People who contributed to work of peace were motivated for peace by being presented the Plaques of Appreciation Ceremony. First ladies were inspired their mission to realize peace through the inauguration ceremony of the “IWPG Peace Network of First Ladies”.

IWPG Chairwoman strongly emphasized “IWPG consists of more than 100 branches and 240 affiliated organizations. The Peace Mission with HWPL and IPYG is currently on the 30th World Peace Tour and everyone wanted.

Even now, there are children and young people who are dying of war. Also in the midst of the war, women’s human rights are being violated. Should we just sit back and let it go? Young people and women all over the world should be brave enough to talk about inconvenient truths, and institutional support is also needed to prevent war. If war is a problem, there should be an answer to it. IWPG found the answer in DPCW.

When one changes one’s mind, culture changes and civilization changes. Let us awaken all to the culture of peace. We are all messengers of peace.”

Moon Jae-in has been performing well the Role of Messengers of Peace. It is clear that the Moon Jae-in is the midwife of the North-Korea USA Summit in many ways. By turning all the credit to President Trump, Mr. Moon made him an active participant in the North-Korea USA Summit. Bill Clinton, former president of the United States assessed it “Moon Jae-in the president is a true hero”. In the process, President Moon left a famous saying in Korean diplomatic history that “the Nobel Peace Prize is for Trump and we only need to bring peace.”

UN Official text:

“Over the past year, something miraculous has taken place on the Korean Peninsula. For the first time in history, the leader of North Korea crossed the Military Demarcation Line to visit Panmunjeom. A historic summit between the United States and North Korea was also held on the Sentosa Island in Singapore.

Chairman Kim Jong Un and I removed the shadow of war and resolved to usher in an era of peace and prosperity. At the U.S-North Korea summit, the two sides agreed to work towards achieving complete denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula, ending hostile relations and establishing a permanent peace regime. President Trump and Chairman Kim moved and gave hope to those who desire peace all around the world.

North Korea dismantled its nuclear test site in Punggye-ri under the observation of the international community. The United States and the Republic of Korea suspended large-scale joint military exercises and built trust.

I would like to thank and salute President Trump and Chairman Kim‘s courage and resolve as they usher in a new era on the Korean Peninsula as well as in U.S-North Korea relations.”

Moreover, Chairman Kim expressed his commitment to permanently dismantle the missile engine test site and launch platform in Dongchang-ri under observation of the international community as a first step, in order to expedite progress in denuclearization.

Furthermore, he expressed his firm willingness to continue to take additional denuclearization measures including the permanent dismantlement of nuclear facilities in Yongbyon as the United States takes corresponding measures in the spirit of the Sentosa Agreement.”

Ending the Korean War is an urgent task. It is a process that we must go through in order to move towards a peace regime. I look forward to seeing bold measures for denuclearization implemented among the related countries, leading to the declaration to end the War.

Regardless of the challenges that lie ahead, the leaders of the South, the North and the United States will move step by step towards peace based on mutual trust.

Such a dramatic change has been possible thanks to the support and encouragement of the people around the world who desire peace. In particular, the United Nations gave North Korea the courage to embark on the road to peace. I would like to express my gratitude to the United Nations for its role.

This is, however, just the beginning. I would like to ask for continued support and cooperation from the member states on our journey towards complete denuclearization and permanent peace. He continued, “On April 20, North Korea officially ended its policy of nuclear development and has since devoted all of its efforts towards economic development. On September 9, in the ceremony marking the 70th anniversary of its foundation, North Korea expressed its commitment to peace and prosperity instead of boasting its nuclear capabilities. North Korea moved out of longstanding isolation on its own initiative and stands before the international community once again.

Now, it is the international community’s turn to respond positively to North Korea’s new choice and efforts. We must assure Chairman Kim that he has made the right decision in committing to denuclearization. We must encourage North Korea to stay on the path that leads to permanent and solid peace.

The Role of the United Nations is crucial. The UN Secretariat has continued its efforts for dialogue and engagement, including the invitation of North Korean officials to international conferences.

The United Nations has stated its commitment to “leave no one behind.” My sincere hope is that the UN’s vision of sustainable development will be realized on the Korean Peninsula.

I have no doubt that if the international community paves the way, North Korea will not stall on making strides towards peace and prosperity. The Republic of Korea will spare no effort to guide North Korea towards that path.

I would like to call on the United Nations to share its experience and wisdom.”

The president Trump derided the chairman Kim as “Little Rocket Man” and threatened to “totally destroy North Korea.” at UN General Assembly a year ago. But now he praised the Chairman Kim for his courage. This Trump’s speech comes after South Korean President Moon Jae-in gave a personal message to Trump from North Korea’s Kim. This is the message they talked in the inter-Korean talks last week.

The White House’s official transcript(a partial extract):

“With support from many countries here today, we have engaged with North Korea to replace the specter of conflict with a bold and new push for peace.

In June, I traveled to Singapore to meet face to face with North Korea’s leader, Chairman Kim Jong Un.

We had highly productive conversations and meetings, and we agreed that it was in both countries’ interest to pursue the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. Since that meeting, we have already seen a number of encouraging measures that few could have imagined only a short time ago.

The missiles and rockets are no longer flying in every direction. Nuclear testing has stopped. Some military facilities are already being dismantled. Our hostages have been released. And as promised, the remains of our fallen heroes are being returned home to lay at rest in American soil.

I would like to thank Chairman Kim for his courage and for the steps he has taken, though much work remains to be done. The sanctions will stay in place until denuclearization occurs.

I also want to thank the many member states who helped us reach this moment — a moment that is actually far greater than people would understand; far greater — but for also their support and the critical support that we will all need going forward.

A special thanks to President Moon of South Korea, Prime Minister Abe of Japan, and President Xi of China.”

RI YONG HO, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the DPRK, asked the US for less sanctions and more understanding. He still showed North Korea’s willingness to denuclearize and said “The Korean Peninsula, the hottest spot in the globe, will become the cradle of peace and prosperity.” Ri ascribed this progress almost entirely to efforts by the Koreas but he said that the US continued to damage the peace protest by mistrusting North Korea. Four days ago, Trump highlighted his achievement with North Korea, but added that sanctions will continue until denuclearization is carried out. Frequently reemphasising the need for trust, Ri said there was “no way” North Korea would unilaterally disarm themselves before “coercive” sanctions were lifted.

Special Lectures to support the Peaceful
Unification of the Korean Peninsula

– Delivered by Former Presidents of Eastern European Nations

On September 18, the two leaders of inter-Korea met in Pyongyang. To support the peaceful unification of the Korean Peninsula, H.E. Ivo Josipović, Former President of Croatia, and Hon. Emil Constantinescu, Former President of Romania, both of whom experienced times under Communist rule and the transition to democracy, gave presentations on September 16th and September 20th respectively. They gave specific advice through their real experience.

H.E. Ivo Josipović explained the power of culture in the achievement of peace and the need for adoption of DPCW by the United Nations. He emphasized the important role of political leaders to cease the ongoing conflicts in the world, citing the past case of the treaty signed by Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. In relation to the establishment of a legally binding international law for peace, he added, “Presenting the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) to the United Nations as a resolution, with our intention to build peace in the world, is novel and important.”

The 4th Annual Commemoration of the 2018 HWPL World Peace Summit was held in South Korea from the 17th to the 19th of September. This year, thousands of leaders and citizens from around the globe will gather for 3 days with the great determination of creating a peaceful world together. Under the theme of “Collaboration for Peace Development: Building a Peace Community through the DPCW”, the wind of peace is blowing all over the world. This 918 WARP Summit is the core of HWPL’s peace movement. The main agenda of the WARP Summit will be the introduction of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) to the United Nations (UN) as a binding resolution.

DPCW is aligned with UN Charter

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE 73rd UNGA paid attention to Peace on the Korean Peninsula UNGA73 UNGA UN Charter step towards peace SDGs Right to Peace Republic of Korea promote peace peace on the Korean Peninsula North Korea Moon Jae-in messengers of peace María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés Inter Korea Summit Hon. Emil Constantinescu H.E. Ivo Josipović DPRK DPCW Chairman Kim Jong Un Bill Clinton 918 WARP Summit 73rd UNGA So far, international law has not ended the war. Likewise, the Universal Declaration does not include a separate article on “Right to Peace”. This is why the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was held. So HWPL is creating a new order for the world. It is DPCW! It can be the Right to Peace. Currently, there is a worldwide campaign to introduce the DPCW to the United Nations. Now, they collected 734,055 signatures (as of October, 2017) and 173,170 people of 176 countries participated. Law experts agreed that the DPCW is fully aligned with the UN Charter & the UDHR and this Declaration not only encapsulates and supports all of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Like proof of this, delegations of Permanent Missions of the UN and HWPL gathered at the Office of the Commonwealth (New York) to discuss the promotion of sustainable peace and human rights, on Friday 7 September 2018. Also, they discussed intensively the way to promote the 918 WARP Summit. Because the walks of HWPL are alignment with the core purposes of the United Nations, the delegations have no choice but to support the DPCW.

Finally, the Last East Germany Prime Minister Lothar de Maizière, who achieved reunification, said (not this year) that “Reunification was the will of heaven. It happens like a miracle when human endeavor is met with internal and external conditions.”

73rd UNGA Address by South Korean President Moon Jae-in:

Ladies and gentlemen,

We all desire peace. Peace represents the relatives and neighbors we love, and the hometowns we long for. Peace means sharing what we have together. A peace we have all achieved together is a peace for all. I’m confident that all of you will always be with us on the path to permanent peace and denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula as well as on the journey to a peaceful world.

Thank you.

HWPL Peace Education can achieve Dictionary without ‘War’!

HWPL Peace Education

“Before the discussion, students hit each other. They never used to love one another or care what other children are going through. But after the discussion on empathy, they could see the necessity of why we should have empathy. I actually felt the concept of empathy was sinking into these children.”

Having dedicated 17 years to teaching, Mr. Mathias Kevin Osimbo, the In-country Representative of Teachers Without Borders in Kenya, offers unique insights into peace education as one of the many educators who have implemented HWPL’s peace education in their classrooms.

The results were beyond surprising:

“I picked students from the group, peace club, in my school. When the members came, we picked one of the values, ‘empathy’. As the students discuss about this, they came up with their own ideas and definition of what empathy is. Some of them were too emotional and they were shedding tears as they were sharing their life experiences.

Let me tell you there was a change afterwards. Before the discussion, students hit each other. They never used to love one another or care what other children are going through. But after the discussion on empathy, they could see the necessity of why we should have empathy. I actually felt the concept of empathy was sinking into these children.”

The Chairman of HWPL, Man hee Lee, said
“If there is an answer to peace, then any family of the global village born in this era should become a messenger of peace…ending war and making sustainable peace a legacy for future generations.”

Teachers Without Borders messengers of peace Man Hee Lee internalization of peace values HWPL Peace education HWPL empathy DPCW Chairman of HWPL     Peace is so natural, and it’s the best value human beings should have. How can we achieve peace? Peace begins by teaching students peace. Teaching peace from a young age in all textbook, not war heroes and stories, is a source of great change as fundamental solution. If the word war is removed from the dictionary by peace education, culture of peace will prevail in the global community and war will no longer occur. Peace education is one of HWPL’s core initiatives and values education to pass peace on to posterity. HWPL Peace education focuses on developing peace education courses, teacher training, and opening peace classes to enlighten students and foster citizens of peace value and spirit. In order to end the war and leave eternal peace as a legacy for future generations, we need to teach the values needed for a new era of peace rather than the old war-stained ideology.

“Countless people have worked for peace on this planet but how much peace do we have today? There will be no greater thing we could leave as a legacy to our future generations than to end war on this planet and create peace.” – The Chairman of HWPL, Man hee Lee

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE HWPL Peace Education can achieve Dictionary without ‘War’! Teachers Without Borders messengers of peace Man Hee Lee internalization of peace values HWPL Peace education HWPL empathy DPCW Chairman of HWPL This education provides a fundamental understanding of the basic principles that human beings must observe for peace to be created. Through the discovery and internalization of these peace values the inner selves of students and their ability to live together in harmony with others in their own community, and even the world, is properly nurtured. In order to successfully cultivate children and young people as messengers of peace, HWPL Peace Education first works to erase previously held ideas and values that are corrupt by directly showing how the world has become evil in the present era, and then plant the peaceful values needed for the new era of peace in their stead. It also introduces a new methodology in which the values of peace can be applied in all environments and real-life situations happening outside the classroom.

Currently, 149 educational institutions in 10 countries including the Israel, the Philippines, the U.S. and the Kosovo have been signed up to operate the HWPL Peace Academy in from elementary schools to universities.

The culture of peace is the best homework that we all have to do together and the greatest legacy that we can pass on to future generations. HWPL Peace education will create a peace culture. 🙂

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE 3 Peace Initiative : WARP Office, Alliance of Religions WARP Summit WARP OFFICE scriptures Religious Youth Peace Camp Peace messengers of peace HWPL DPCW Alliance of Religions 3 Peace Initiative     Religion is the cradle of human civilization and will always be a core influence in our society. As the world becomes more multi-religious and multi-ethnic, however, there is a seemingly diminished respect for the difference. And more concerns rise towards this new threat to peace, which can be seen in the form of religious hatred and persecution.

Seeing the current status of the religious world, HWPL thinks the solution of peace. ‘How can we make it?’ The answer they found is the Scriptures. Because it represent the accumulation of not only the spiritual and moral teachings of the respective faiths, but also a fundamental standard of human conduct.

Why Scripture? Although the common objective that all religion is the great things, these messages are often overlooked by people. Because religious people fight with each other first. They showed hostility and started a war. So peace is becoming an elusive concept. So HWPL approach towards the root cause of this hostility between faiths, defined as the misunderstandings that arise from the misinterpretation of these scriptures.

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE 3 Peace Initiative : WARP Office, Alliance of Religions WARP Summit WARP OFFICE scriptures Religious Youth Peace Camp Peace messengers of peace HWPL DPCW Alliance of Religions 3 Peace Initiative It began from the World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (WARP) Summit in 2014 where representative leaders from 12 religions, along with 950 participants, signed the Unity of Religion Agreement. At that time, the WARP Office Meeting was established and it has been actively practiced worldwide since then.

Strong cooperation and a network of religious communities formed by the commitment of those at the WARP Summit 2014 has been integrated with a deeper understanding of the core principles and values of each scripture.

Thus, within its Alliance of Religions Initiative, in remembrance of the promised agreement for the unity of religions, HWPL has promoted interfaith communication among religious leaders, who play an integral role in educating their congregations about differences in religious beliefs in a way that should not hinder the progress of establishing world peace.

The Peace Office Meetings have become a global movement, and an increasing number of influential religious leaders are now going beyond their traditional roles and work as messengers of peace. This innovative initiative has stirred up discussions among leaders of various faiths and has increased peaceful interactions between them. It has shown itself to be an effective tool for breaking down the walls between religions and achieving our common goal: peace.

HWPL 28th World Peace tour, Washington D.C WARP office was held. For so long, peace messengers have eagerly waited for the WARP office to be broadcasting LIVE! HWPL WARP Office is dedicated to promoting true interfaith harmony through scripture dialogues-realization of peace through finding the trustworthy scripture. WARP Offices are held regularly at the 216 sites spread over 123 countries (by June 3rd, 2017). Why is WARP Office needed? Let’s find the reason.

We’ve called heaven and earth as witnesses to WARP Summit. In front of God and people in the world, we made an agreement to declare international law and unite religions. Also, the heads of organizations from each country made an agreement to urge implementation.

Why Youth?

In particular, in conflict areas such as Iraq, Palestine and Afghanistan, young people and citizens is holding a peace walk with an earnest will to realize peace amid terrorism and war.

The Declaration of world peace, which was proclaimed on May 25, 2013 by HWPL, has called for the youth of the world to become the messenger of peace. Also, it suggests that we need the international law (DPCW) that can end the war. Why youth? The youth is the biggest victims of the war.

World alliance of religions and peace(WARP) Office is founded to achieve Article 8 of DPCW, ‘Freedom of Religion’. Religious leaders should take the lead in fostering harmony among religions through the WARP Offices established in various parts of the world. The alliance of religions is the earnest hope of all humanity. It is called by an ‘Innovative Approach‘ to Religious Dialogue. The key point is ‘Scriptural texts‘ of each religion. The WARP Office aim to prevent the conflicts caused by religious misunderstandings. They are marching to peace teaching each scripture of religion. In the short three years, the WARP Offices have seen rapid expansion with 218 offices now operating in 126 countries. I believe they can really achieve peace. 🙂

It is a pity why Koreans do not know this. This is how our relationship began. After that, I became a fan.

Maybe you don’t know, now I’m studying abroad in Australia. I’m from Korea. Unlike Korea, here seems to be more relaxing. ‘Did I come this far and learn all the things to learn?’ ‘Why am I here?’ On these thoughts, I heard the news from HWPL. Today is the 2nd Annual Commemoration of the DPCW. I know a lot of peace groups, but I don’t believe any one. Because they are only saying about peace, not moving. But I can’t help putting my trust in HWPL. We can know them by their walking. This time, we check more about this commemoration.

What we need is an instrument that protects human life, the very law that prevents war,” said Lee.

Mr. Pravin H. Parekh, President of Confederation of Indian Bar, who participated in drafting the DPCW said, “No human being and no animal on planet Earth can survive from weapons (of mass destruction). Even an error or an accident can cause widespread, irreparable damage to human life and property. We all have to work 365 days and 24 hours together for peace as a messenger of peace.”

“We urge all those yearning for peace and justice to take the right path, not the path marked with lies, and join the effort to build peace together.”

It is the big day! Before that day, we are concerned and worried under the threat of war. What is peace? In our history, Peace was often identified as a coordinate concept of war. We realized then how peace is precious only after losing. Whatever we did, we are helpless. But after that day, we can see the path to peace. The Real PEACE. Its purpose is to end WAR. How can? So far, there have been many peace groups. There were also many Nobel Peace Prize winners. But did peace come true? People are still fighting. So, how is it possible?

DPCW is the Ultimate Solution

The cessation of war and world peace will become a reality because everyone desires for peace rather than war” and finally “We have the answer to peace which is the DPCW.” I’m sure it will cure the world more beautifully. DPCW is the solution!!! Let’s become the messengers of peace!

What is different?
We can find the answer in ICAN

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE [D-1 day] 2nd Annual Commemoration of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) War potential TPNW Nuclear Disarmament NPT Nobel Peace Prize winners Nobel Peace Prize Nobel Committee messengers of peace ICAN HWPL DPCW Live DPCW is the Ultimate Solution DPCW 2nd Annual Commemoration of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War 2016 Nobel peace prize This year, the Norwegian Nobel Committee decided to award the Nobel Peace Prize for 2017 to ICAN. The amazing  thing is that ICAN was launched on just April 2007! Can you understand? There are a lot of peace groups to contribute really hard toward the world! Why ICAN? I can’t understand. Here’s a hint. 2016 Nobel peace prize : Colombia peace agreement “It is passed. Now remaining task is ‘implementation’. Finally we could know ‘The Norwegian Nobel Committee want to tell something‘. I think they want to empower someone who want real peace.

“Nobel Empower Someone who Really want Peace”

The meritorious deed of ICAN is to convert NPT to TPNW. Successfully on 7 July 2017, The Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) is adopted at the United Nations by a vote of 122-1! The ICAN said ‘TPNW‘ is “a landmark international agreement that outlaws, categorically, the worst weapons of mass destruction and establishes a pathway to their elimination.”

HWPL’s DPCW vs TPNW

TPNW contributed to the continued role of the NPT, emphasizing its “vital role in promoting international peace and security”.
  • There is the distinction between states entitled to possess such weapons and non-nuclear weapon states in NPT. But in TPNW it is not.
  • The TPNW also forbids states party to the treaty from allowing “any stationing, installation or deployment” of nuclear weapons on their territory, a prohibition that is not explicitly included in the NPT
  • States party to the TPNW are prohibited from conducting nuclear tests, while the Comprehensive Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) has not yet entered into force
Beyond Nuclear Disarmament

Do you know HWPL‘s DPCW(the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War)? The purpose of DPCW is to end the war. If so, the nuclear disarmament is a natural consequence. Actually DPCW has an article of elimination of nuclear weapons. I know many people think it is a naive desire. But the success of ICAN already show you ‘the world is changing‘. Simply we just walked the path to peace.

  • 3. States should prohibit any act or threat of violence, whatever its motives or purposes, that occurs for the advancement of an individual or collective criminal agenda.

  • 2. States should not produce, assist in, encourage, or induce; the production of weapons of mass destruction, inter alia, chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons, or weapons capable of causing indiscriminate or widespread and unnecessary suffering, or weapons incompatible with international humanitarian law.
  • 3. States should take measures to ensure that existing weapons of mass destruction, weapons capable of causing widespread and unnecessary suffering and weapons incompatible with international humanitarian law are gradually dismantled or destroyed. States should cooperate in disarmament and the reduction of arms stockpiles, ideally under international supervision. Decommissioned weapons manufacturing facilities should be repurposed, so that they may serve purposes that are beneficial to humanity in general.
