Religion is the cradle of human civilization and will always be a core influence in our society. As the world becomes more multi-religious and multi-ethnic, however, there is a seemingly diminished respect for the difference. And more concerns rise towards this new threat to peace, which can be seen in the form of religious hatred and persecution.

Seeing the current status of the religious world, HWPL thinks the solution of peace. ‘How can we make it?’ The answer they found is the Scriptures. Because it represent the accumulation of not only the spiritual and moral teachings of the respective faiths, but also a fundamental standard of human conduct.

Why Scripture? Although the common objective that all religion is the great things, these messages are often overlooked by people. Because religious people fight with each other first. They showed hostility and started a war. So peace is becoming an elusive concept. So HWPL approach towards the root cause of this hostility between faiths, defined as the misunderstandings that arise from the misinterpretation of these scriptures.

Spreading throughout the world

It began from the World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (WARP) Summit in 2014 where representative leaders from 12 religions, along with 950 participants, signed the Unity of Religion Agreement. At that time, the WARP Office Meeting was established and it has been actively practiced worldwide since then.

Strong cooperation and a network of religious communities formed by the commitment of those at the WARP Summit 2014 has been integrated with a deeper understanding of the core principles and values of each scripture.

Thus, within its Alliance of Religions Initiative, in remembrance of the promised agreement for the unity of religions, HWPL has promoted interfaith communication among religious leaders, who play an integral role in educating their congregations about differences in religious beliefs in a way that should not hinder the progress of establishing world peace.

It is an effective tool for breaking down the walls between religions and achieving our common goal : peace

WARP OFFICE : Our Goal = Peace

The World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (WARP) Office Meetings are HWPL’s worldwide peace dialogue series on interfaith relations and scriptural texts. These meetings aim to prevent the conflicts caused by religious misunderstandings and bring forth peace through gaining a deeper understanding of the standards and teachings of each religion, as well as the concept of peace spoken about in each scripture.

The Peace Office Meetings have become a global movement, and an increasing number of influential religious leaders are now going beyond their traditional roles and work as messengers of peace. This innovative initiative has stirred up discussions among leaders of various faiths and has increased peaceful interactions between them. It has shown itself to be an effective tool for breaking down the walls between religions and achieving our common goal: peace.

The Peace Office Meetings are becoming a way to create a bridge between religions in all areas of the globe.

Religious Youth Peace Camp

The aim of the HWPL Religious Youth Peace Camp is to engage youth and youth organizations in dialogue and conflict transformation activities based on inter-religious and inter-cultural learning.

Camp participants learn about the general history of world religions, find the root cause of and plausible resolutions to religious conflicts and disputes, examine the religious community’s roles for peace, and experience cultural exchanges.

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE 3 Peace Initiative : DPCW Law for Peace United Nations Sustainable Advocacy Efforts religions nationalities Legislate Peace Campaign legal framework Law for Peace international peace law HWPL ethnicities DPCW Law for Peace DPCW Comprehensive Bottom-Up Movement bottom-up approach The status of today’s world can be traced back to the two tragic world wars of the last century. But it can found the United Nations. It was founded to respond to the atrocities of conflict and loss of human dignity. Since then, many international agreements and declarations have been developed. But additional challenges such as national and religious conflicts, cultural bias and ethnic hatred have hindered the movement of peace. And innocent civilians have to pay the price.

In this regard, HWPL thinks that the international society needs a comprehensive legal approach that guides citizens’ daily lives, regardless of their nationalities, ethnicities, and religions. To secure peace at both national and international levels, the invention of a legal framework in the form of an international agreement (law) will pave the way for developing peace processes in our world.

These essential objectives of HWPL are manifested in the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) drafted by the HWPL International Law Peace Committee, which is comprised of prominent international law experts from 15 different countries, and proclaimed on 14 March, 2016 in the form of a Preamble, 10 articles and 38 clauses.

Two Key Challenges

Comprehensive Bottom-Up Movement

Under the Law for Peace Initiative, HWPL engages substantially with civil society actors because peace cannot be sustained only through the voices of elites and institutionalized processes. Going beyond all divisional lines, HWPL suggests a civil society function in peace-building, which aims at the implementation of citizens’ advocacy and the voluntary practice of democratic values, thus fostering a culture of peace.

The main activities within this function are carried out under the Legislate Peace Campaign, a bottom-up approach for peaceful conflict resolution through establishing an international peace law. More leaders in politics, legal fields, the press, and faith-based organizations are acknowledging the greater involvement of civil society within the initiative and have implemented joint activities advocating for the ultimate peace system that can encompass all States and peoples.

Sustainable Advocacy Efforts

Civil society actors and government representatives working with HWPL ensure that they will continue to call for a successful Law for Peace Initiative based on governmental and nongovernmental cooperation, thereby building participatory structures which allow sustainable peace settlement. When an international legal framework compatible with the DPCW is established and holds all States accountable for peaceful conflict resolution and ceasing war-like activities, HWPL believes that it will eradicate the structural causes of violent conflicts. This is the source of the sustainable advocacy efforts.

3 Peace Initiative : HWPL Peace Education

VISION & MISSION

Despite the many differences that exist between individuals, we should all live in harmony in the global village; however, war and conflict currently threaten the lives and safety of all. In order to end war and inherit everlasting peace in the future, we must teach the values necessary for a new era of peace rather than the old ideology that has been stained by war.

HWPL Peace Education’s vision is to enlighten students and cultivate talented individuals with the values and spirit of peace, who can then play a pioneering role in spreading the culture of peace. This education provides a fundamental understanding of the basic principles that human beings must observe for peace to be created. Through the discovery and internalization of these peace values the inner selves of students and their ability to live together in harmony with others in their own community, and even the world, is properly nurtured.

In order to successfully cultivate children and young people as peacemakers, HWPL Peace Education first works to erase previously held ideas and values that are corrupt by directly showing how the world has become evil in the present era, and then plant the peaceful values needed for the new era of peace in their stead. It also introduces a new methodology in which the values of peace can be applied in all environments and real-life situations happening outside the classroom.

Enlightening to Cultivate Talented Individuals
with the Values and Spirit of Peace

HWPL VALUE INTEGRATED EDUCATION

The HWPL Peace curriculum has been developed on the basis of the core values of peace, which include ‘Sanctity of Life’, ‘Loyalty and Filial Piety’, and ‘Coexistence and Sustainability’, and demonstrates clearly how these peace values are applicable on a personal level, as well as within the broader community. HWPL Peace Education is an innovative education that pioneers the establishment and propagation of a culture of peace by cultivating talented individuals with the mindset of peace.

‘Sanctity of Life’

By internalizing the importance and value of the sanctity of life, as well as cultivating respect for both oneself and others, the foundation is laid for treating all humanity as worthy and equal. This plays a key role in overcoming conflicts and situations that result from differences in nationality, ethnicity, religion, culture and ideology.

‘Loyalty and Filial Piety’

By understanding the principle of social order and considering all humanity as valuable and equal, based on a sincere respect for others, it is possible to construct new behaviors in life in accordance with the necessary values required to live in harmony with one another.

‘Co-existence and Sustainability’

Learning the norms and laws necessary for sustaining peaceful coexistence within the community and society allows for the development of a complete peaceful mindset in citizens as well as the ability to understand the way of harmonious coexistence and responding peacefully in various situations.

In the short three years from its official beginning, the WARP Offices have seen rapid expansion with 218 offices now operating in 126 countries. With approximately 2,500 representative religious leaders as participants, it enhanced the level of understanding of, and harmony between, various religions. Do you know what culture was created? Religious leaders want to seek true peace-building and harmony among religions based on correct understanding. And they dedicated themselves to thoroughly researching what a “trustworthy scripture” should contain.

Second meeting took place yesterday.

Objectives

To further develop the current dialogue of scriptures meetings, which are being actively held in each country, through the engagement of religious leaders from different countries and backgrounds. Also, through the real-time audience questions, a more in-depth discussion on the topic is anticipated.

To spread the culture of interfaith communication, and through online streaming the meeting, to provide the opportunity for audiences to learn about and understand other religions in their civil society.

Host

HWPL: An international NGO and peace organization affiliated with the UN ECOSOC, which engages leaders from various fields in each country for peace activities such as international law enactment, WARP Offices, peace education, youth and women's empowerment, etc.

WARP Office: A platform for the comparison of scriptures, with the aim to bring a peaceful environment in the global community by solving the difference in thoughts and ideologies that cause religious conflicts.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Panel: One month before the meeting, the details will be posted on the Facebook Group, 'You Asked, WARP Office Answers' (WARP Office Facebook page), and announced through the WARP Offices in each country. Religious leaders who wish to attend as a panelist, representing their religion, will have to submit an Application Form to info@hwpl.kr

Audience: Watch the online WARP Office meeting live through HWPL’s official Youtube channel. And participate by asking questions in real-time on the Youtube chatroom. The link will also be posted on HWPL’s official Twitter.

As the world becomes more developed, the other side is highlighted. Religious hatred, Persecution, and Conflicts. Seeing the current status of the religious world, HWPL recognizes that the diverse principles and values in each religious scripture play an important role in people’s search for peace. Because these scriptures represent the accumulation of not only the spiritual and moral teachings of the respective faiths, but also a fundamental standard of human conduct. It is the reason why WARP Office was beginning.

One religious leader emphasized, “We should support the WARP Office discussions, as the significant link and the great network for the worldwide religious institutions and spiritual leaders, to show the cooperation and solidarity of all religious leaders, and to send the message of tolerance, peace and unity to all people around the world.”

What is WARP office?

Since the initial establishment of the WARP Offices in November 2014, religious leaders have gathered worldwide. Why do they gather? They have same passion, for what? ‘What is believable scriptures?’ They gathered to conduct comparison dialogues regarding their various religious scriptures. There are many corrupt religious people. But these leaders are different. Why do they compare? 80% of the war is religious war. So, religious leaders intend to unite religion with responsibility. They are gathered at this Online WARP Office Meeting.

Why Online WARP Office?

On 24 March 2018 HWPL’s World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (WARP) Office held its first Intercontinental Online WARP Office Meeting. Why is this meeting meaningful? It is transcending continental boundaries. What surprising is that an open channel of communication with the audience was implemented. It enabled them to participate directly in the discussions with the religious leaders. What do you think will happen then?

5th Annual Commemoration of the Declaration of World Peace is starting! I’m here! I’ve been looking forward to this moment. Its title is ‘Resolving Conflicts and Spreading a Culture of Peace through the DPCW: Realizing Peace on the Korean Peninsula’. As you know expectations for peace on the Korean Peninsula have been rising since The Panmunjom Declaration for Peace, Prosperity and Unification of the Korean Peninsula at 2018 inter-Korean summit. Young people, from 84 cities in 50 countries, cry out for peace with one voice. The vigor of the site can only be felt directly.

In particular, in conflict areas such as Iraq, Palestine and Afghanistan, young people and citizens is holding a peace walk with an earnest will to realize peace amid terrorism and war.

The Declaration of world peace, which was proclaimed on May 25, 2013 by HWPL, has called for the youth of the world to become the messenger of peace. Also, it suggests that we need the international law (DPCW) that can end the war. Why youth? The youth is the biggest victims of the war.

DPCW is the ultimate solution

The current international law is open to war if necessary. This will not end the war. The only way for peace is DPCW. Chairman Lee proclaimed “HWPL has made peace agreements with present and former presidents and heads of state, chiefs justices of Supreme courts, university presidents, religious leaders, and the heads of international organizations, and this news has been broadcasted all around the world. The cessation of war and world peace will become a reality because everyone desires for peace rather than war” and finally “We have the answer to peace which is the DPCW.” I’m sure it will cure the world more beautifully. DPCW is the solution!!! Let’s become the messengers of peace!

71 Countries Cry out for DPCW

The 2nd Annual Commemoration of the DPCW in Seoul was held in conjunction with 166 cities in 71 countries including Los Angeles and Washington D.C. in the United States, Germany, Ukraine, Britain, and China totaling approximately 150,000 worldwide participants. They shouted together around the world. Representatives of religion, government and civic groups expressed their solidarity for the passage of an international peace law at this commemoration. But the beginning was definitely one. In a few years, so many people are joining. What’s gonna happen in a few years? Join in the vast flow of peace that can’t stop.

[D-2] Recent Peace Walkings of HWPL #5

The Solution is what

Maybe, I should explain first. I am studying medicine in Australia. I’m from Korea. In fact, there are many things to worry about in everyday life. Can I be to live this comfortable life? So thankful. There are many young friends in the world, who had to lose their families and are so fearful & painful. So I found the solution more than others. The result? #HWPL.

‘Pan-European Peace Forum’ was held in Frankfurt. For peaceful reunification of the Korean Peninsula! Recalling the small gatherings in Leipzig that sparked peaceful demonstrations for Germany’s reunification, Dr. Manfred F. Welker(Frankfurt city council member) said what will bring two Koreas together is “not just government cooperation but – as we have seen from Nikolaikirche – it will be by the collaboration and efforts of the people.” President of International Progress Organization, Professor Dr Hans Köchler from Austria, said “Reunified Korea will be the best security guarantee to both the North and the South.”

HWPL Peace Educators Workshop

During the 4-days workshop scheduled from May 4th to 7th, 11 dispatched officials participate in ‘Peace Educators Workshop’ on the theme of ‘Spread love and peace in Indonesia’. HWPL has built cooperation with 138 educational institutions in 9 countries including India, Israel, Indonesia and the Philippines. Prof., Dr. Nur Hidayah said “I have found that HWPL peace education is universally accepted by all. It will be a tool for all people.” (abbreviation)

What is HWPL Newsletter

Quite simply, It is the peace news. It is made of something happening all over the world within a single, small book every month. Surprisingly, it is made by the law. The HWPL Newsletter is based on Article 10 of the DPCW, “Spreading a Culture of Peace”. The advantage of this Newsletter is a high level of authenticity that is truly touching. It’s about time to listen Newsletter Editor‘s story. Hannah Jeon, Newsletter Editor said, “In just four short years since its establishment in 2013, HWPL and its many peace projects have received great interest and appreciation worldwide.” Why is it needed? “The HWPL Newsletter was created with the purpose of announcing the news of HWPL, which is now running for peace and justice in the global community with tens of thousands of peace messengers.”

“The Starting Point is the Conveyance of the News of Hope to the World”

What is the Vision of HWPL and Us?

Our limits? No. “The newsletter is not limited to only the stories of HWPL but instead seeks to find stories of peace messengers who share the same heart for peace.” Our vision is that “We are working to create a platform where all individuals are able to tell their own personal stories and explain for themselves their experiences with the processes and results of HWPL’s peace activities in their communities across the globe.” Thanks, Hannah. Listening to the story, I thought a lot. Why do we need peace? Because there is a war. Because there is a pain. All people, who are suffering from the unrelenting violence and war, share the same sadness. I feel a deep sadness because of the pain that is being experienced around the world. So what do we have to do? It is the reason why I love HWPL.

The ultimate object of HWPL

: The world of peace! which humanity has never experienced throughout all of history will be possible for the first time through HWPL. For this, the starting point is the conveyance of the news of hope to the world. It becomes the engine for the transmission of the values of the international law, inter-faith harmony and peace education that all aim for the world of peace.

Journalists Who Change the World

The present state of journalism

One media, dailytrust, said ‘For journalists, 2017 represented misfortune of journalism’. Why? I wonder why, too. The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) says at least 81 reporters were killed and violence against media soared last year. Also, more than 70 media companies were closed in Venezuela. Also, the Guardian reported that “Global press freedom plunges to worst level this century” mainly due to government censorship, crime targeted at journalists and financial pressures associated with the growth of the internet. What do you think we should do? They are not frustrated. They want to respond to such challenge and turn it into an opportunity. So, some journalists around the world in collaboration with an international NGO have been seeking ways to enhance press freedom through the international media network and peace journalism in relation.

HWPL : Where should we go?

In 2017, Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), said in a statement recently that it formed a series Media Forums to establish a working group of journalists around the world. Why? It want to research the flow of journalism globally and redefine the duty of journalism.

On September 17, 2017, at the World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (WARP) Summit, “the Conference for Global Peace Media Network – Freedom of the Press and International Peace Media Community Initiative” was held with 100 journalists from 50 countries around the world. What is important is that the establishment of media agencies concentrating on peace can raise public awareness, and more and more journalists should participate in delivering news of peace and settlement of the conflict rather than conflict itself. I sincerely ask journalists to change my future.
