Conversation between Australia & Korea
Deputy Foreign Minister Yoon Soon-koo held the fifth Korea-Australia Strategic Dialogue with Australian Deputy Foreign Minister Richard Maude in Canberra on 18th of July to discuss the situation on the Korean Peninsula. It also stressed the importance of cooperation from major regional partners, including Australia, in order to achieve substantial results in the upcoming negotiations.
In response, Deputy Maude said, “We expect the Panmunjeom Declaration and the North-Korea USA Summit to be implemented as soon as possible, while supporting the Korean government’s efforts to develop a complete denuclearization and a permanent peace regime.”
North Korean Nuclear Issue can not be the subject of bargaining
The Australian government called it extremely disappointing that U.S. President Donald Trump cancelled the talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. The responsibility seems to be closer to North Korea.
The Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said, “Even now North Korea should show the truth and reality of its denuclearization commitments.” and stressed that “Until North Korea takes verifiable, complete and irreversible denuclearization steps, economic and diplomatic pressures from the United States, Australia and the international community will continue to be maximized.”
The Australian Secretary of Defense Christopher Pyne pointed, “Denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula is a top priority for both the United States and Australia, and the denuclearization defined by North Korea is not a measure entirely corresponding to our national interests. This is possible only when the North has sincerity.”
This day, President Donald Trump earlier sent an official letter to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to cancel the summit. President Trump said he knew the anger and public hostility of North Korea’s recent remarks. Especially, he said “You’re talking about your nuclear capability” but “I pray to God that that (our nuclear capability) will never be used because we are so strong and powerful” This was a warning remark.
After North-Korea USA Summit, Something changed
In this agreement, the term CD (Complete Denuclearization) was used instead of the term CVID (Complete, Verifiable and Irreversible Denuclearization), which the United States has been asking for. Also, Trump said he would stop the joint military exercise between South Korea and the United States. Contrary to the aggressive attitude that North Korea and the U.S. lately showed, political pundits say tension between the two countries has eased greatly. As a result, many experts said that Trump is one step closer to the Nobel Peace Prize.
Some say that North Korea is the winner, the U.S. is the loser&winner, and South Korea is the loser. However it is clear that the Moon Jae-in is the midwife of the North-Korea USA Summit in many ways. Mr. Moon persuaded Chairman Kim to engage himself in dialogue with the U.S. President Moon persuaded Chairman Kim to engage himself in dialogue with the U.S. By turning all the credit to President Trump, Mr. Moon made him an active participant in the North-Korea USA Summit. Bill Clinton, former president of the United States assessed it “Moon Jae-in the president is a true hero”. In the process, President Moon left a famous saying in Korean diplomatic history that “the Nobel Peace Prize is for Trump and we only need to bring peace.”
Australian experts of international politics
Regarding the peace process going on on the Korean Peninsula, international political experts, who are leading the Australian think tank, said that the possibility of a complete denuclearization is somewhat low but a continuous dialogue with North Korea is needed.
Rory Medcalf, the president of the Australian National University said, “we think we need to make every effort to attract North Korea to a legal-based order.” He added, “If someone has to play an additional role in communicating with North Korea (with the U.S. etc.), Australia may be a potential country to do so.”
Peter Jennings, the executive director of the Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI), said in interview “we believe that the possibility of CVID (a complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization) of North Korea is low” and claimed “the North Korea does not conduct any missile or nuclear tests, but it still develops nuclear capability.”
At the same time, he added, “we need to build a reliable management mechanism in the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) by increasing communication and contact with North Korea.”
Reunification is God’s will.
The agreement at the North-Korea USA Summit is only a small step for two countries. The problem is a credible follow-up measure. Action should be taken to build trust. This agreement could bear fruit if North Korea and the United States continue to engage in direct talks, build trust one by one, and establish liaison offices in Pyongyang and Washington in the near future.
When this happens, we believe that it will be a great blessing for all mankind beyond the Korean Peninsula. Former East Germany Prime Minister Lothar de Maizière, who achieved reunification, said that “Reunification was the will of heaven. It happens like a miracle when human endeavor is met with internal and external conditions.” The unification of the Korean Peninsula will be natural, if people’s aspirations and the meaning of heaven are gathering, just like East and West Germany. If so, it is the duty of leaders of religion and politics to move the minds of the world toward reunification.

Many people asked about HWPL’s peace movement in the world’s one divided nation, Korea. It is not understood by their common sense. How is this possible? One professor said “It is amazing to see a divided nation doing this work of peace. HWPL’s peace work takes great significance in the run for ending the war on the Korean Peninsula and for its reunification. By taking Mr. Lee’s purpose and his vision for peace and applying it to individuals, the environment, and governments, I am confident that it is possible to achieve peace solely by the hands of the people without any intervention from the government level or the religious leaders.”
Each of the participants is so smart and influential. As a peace educator, they love Indonesia and study ‘ How can I deliver one better? ‘ One professor said “the workshop served as an opportunity to take one step further in thinking about what peace really is. I want to share the value of peace presented by HWPL when I return to

I choose number one. Topic is ‘Entrance into a school’. Let me start my story. I graduated from high school and went to medical school. Would I be happy? Hmm… I have mixed feelings. I feel much relieved and I’m happy to do what I wanted. Also, I was vaguely anxious and suffered from inferiority complex, that I could have done better. I was at a loss what to do because I just became an adult. So I looked for a lot of books, and I looked up all kinds of useful things like TED.
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Hmm.. I think I really agonize about what to decide. First of all, it is not option 3. This is of course his, and I don’t want my friend to know what I think. Frankly, It is true that I want the money. Isn’t the money too big?! How many things can I do? Let’s imagine. First, I am now learning Adobe Premier Pro and After Effect. I will buy related books, and computer specifications should be very very good. I will spend some money on my growth and development. But wisdom can not be bought with money. My ability is too.

I think NPC really want sustainable peace and substantial results. And It would be great if the participants could learn practical things. If so, I would recommend HWPL. They’re growing incredibly and fast. The objectives of HWPL is to end war. You can think ‘Is it possible?’. But you can understand when you see the leader’s cry and their movement. HWPL‘s 3 core Peace initiatives are Law for Peace, Alliance of Religions and Peace Education. There are a lot of posts on my post, so you can look for them. If you really love peace, you will cooperate. Because HWPL has really strong power. And currently peace education made as teaching materials will provide substantial & practical learning for more students.
What is the situation of South Sudan? Conflicts and disputes have consistently occurred in South Sudan. It is because of politics and struggles for power. It is very harsh reality. What do the children here think? Can they laugh in the war? Adults should protect our children. So many people are longing for and looking towards a future of peace. Peace Festival! Then, what is the role of the youth in achieving peace under these situations?
At Peace Concert, numerous colorful performances were able to spread a culture of peace to all citizens in Juba. The event is starting with the traditional dance of South Sudan. The theme is the hope of having a peaceful world and the pain of war. They use ‘Song, Poem and Drama’. In between these programs, prominent figures delivered speeches to convey their heart for peace in the minds of all Juba citizens. Around 3,000 people participated in the concert. It is including government officials, principals, and directors of non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
One participant said, “I’m experienced a truly peaceful world without war.” He hope for the day when this event becomes the best peace festival not only in Juba but in all of South Sudan.
Religion is the cradle of human civilization and will always be a core influence in our society. As the world becomes more multi-religious and multi-ethnic, however, there is a seemingly diminished respect for the difference. And more concerns rise towards this new threat to peace, which can be seen in the form of religious hatred and persecution.
It began from the World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (WARP) Summit in 2014 where representative leaders from 12 religions, along with 950 participants, signed the Unity of Religion Agreement. At that time, the WARP Office Meeting was established and it has been actively practiced worldwide since then.
The World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (WARP) Office Meetings are HWPL’s worldwide peace dialogue series on interfaith relations and scriptural texts. These meetings aim to prevent the conflicts caused by religious misunderstandings and bring forth peace through gaining a deeper understanding of the standards and teachings of each religion, as well as the concept of peace spoken about in each scripture.
The aim of the HWPL Religious Youth Peace Camp is to engage youth and youth organizations in dialogue and conflict transformation activities based on inter-religious and inter-cultural learning.
