HWPL Peace Education Workshop
“Now, we need to work together for the world of peace in order to bring an end to war and armed conflicts and leave the full legacy of peace to our future generations.” – HWPL Chairman Man Hee Lee
In May 2018, a group of 11 professors and faculty members of national universities in Indonesia visited the Republic of Korea to learn about HWPL Peace education. Just three months prior to their visit, there are many amazing things. Many universities in Indonesia including Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta are signing a Peace Academy MOU with HWPL! The reason why they discuss at this workshop is to integrate HWPL’s Peace Education into their curricula for the coming fall semester.
Key theme
▲ Who is responsible to bring peace?
▲ What’s the key ingredient to make this world one of peace?
▲ All humanity needs to be born again with the culture of peace.
Divided nation working for Reunification
Many people asked about HWPL’s peace movement in the world’s one divided nation, Korea. It is not understood by their common sense. How is this possible? One professor said “It is amazing to see a divided nation doing this work of peace. HWPL’s peace work takes great significance in the run for ending the war on the Korean Peninsula and for its reunification. By taking Mr. Lee’s purpose and his vision for peace and applying it to individuals, the environment, and governments, I am confident that it is possible to achieve peace solely by the hands of the people without any intervention from the government level or the religious leaders.”
The peace values presented by HWPL are necessary for realizing reunification led by the people.
Messengers of Love and Peace
Each of the participants is so smart and influential. As a peace educator, they love Indonesia and study ‘ How can I deliver one better? ‘ One professor said “the workshop served as an opportunity to take one step further in thinking about what peace really is. I want to share the value of peace presented by HWPL when I return to Indonesia.” Another professor said “What I recognized from learning about HWPL peace education curriculum is that we need to clearly spread the value of peace.” The other said “When I return home, I hope to become a peace messenger, share the ideas of HWPL Peace Education with others, and contribute to resolving political discourse in Indonesia.”
“Peace is necessary because it is directly related to people’s daily lives.“

I think NPC really want sustainable peace and substantial results. And It would be great if the participants could learn practical things. If so, I would recommend HWPL. They’re growing incredibly and fast. The objectives of HWPL is to end war. You can think ‘Is it possible?’. But you can understand when you see the leader’s cry and their movement. HWPL‘s 3 core Peace initiatives are Law for Peace, Alliance of Religions and Peace Education. There are a lot of posts on my post, so you can look for them. If you really love peace, you will cooperate. Because HWPL has really strong power. And currently peace education made as teaching materials will provide substantial & practical learning for more students.
What is the situation of South Sudan? Conflicts and disputes have consistently occurred in South Sudan. It is because of politics and struggles for power. It is very harsh reality. What do the children here think? Can they laugh in the war? Adults should protect our children. So many people are longing for and looking towards a future of peace. Peace Festival! Then, what is the role of the youth in achieving peace under these situations?
At Peace Concert, numerous colorful performances were able to spread a culture of peace to all citizens in Juba. The event is starting with the traditional dance of South Sudan. The theme is the hope of having a peaceful world and the pain of war. They use ‘Song, Poem and Drama’. In between these programs, prominent figures delivered speeches to convey their heart for peace in the minds of all Juba citizens. Around 3,000 people participated in the concert. It is including government officials, principals, and directors of non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
One participant said, “I’m experienced a truly peaceful world without war.” He hope for the day when this event becomes the best peace festival not only in Juba but in all of South Sudan.
Religion is the cradle of human civilization and will always be a core influence in our society. As the world becomes more multi-religious and multi-ethnic, however, there is a seemingly diminished respect for the difference. And more concerns rise towards this new threat to peace, which can be seen in the form of religious hatred and persecution.
It began from the World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (WARP) Summit in 2014 where representative leaders from 12 religions, along with 950 participants, signed the Unity of Religion Agreement. At that time, the WARP Office Meeting was established and it has been actively practiced worldwide since then.
The World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (WARP) Office Meetings are HWPL’s worldwide peace dialogue series on interfaith relations and scriptural texts. These meetings aim to prevent the conflicts caused by religious misunderstandings and bring forth peace through gaining a deeper understanding of the standards and teachings of each religion, as well as the concept of peace spoken about in each scripture.
The aim of the HWPL Religious Youth Peace Camp is to engage youth and youth organizations in dialogue and conflict transformation activities based on inter-religious and inter-cultural learning.

5th Annual Commemoration of the Declaration of World Peace(
Responding to the necessity of establishing a legal framework to eradicate disputes or armed conflicts, HWPL proposed the ‘Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW)’ which embodies the value of the ‘Declaration of World Peace’, as a solution of World Peace. Volunteers and citizens from various countries including the U.S, Sri Lanka, India, China, France as well as Afghanistan and Palestine, the disputed areas, gathered for activities such as peace walk, peace letter writing, and signing campaign for international law for peace.
As growing attention by the inter-Korean summit, the wind of peace is blowing all over the world. It is to be followed by the highly anticipated North Korea-US summit. In Sweden, there is also peace movement by Korean international NGO. On May 14, the Religious Leaders Conference was held with participants from Buddhism, Christianity, Islam and Hinduism. Its purpose is to discuss the further development of inter-religious dialogues for peace-building.

Organized by the International Peace Youth Group (IPYG) affiliated with HWPL, the “Positive Change for Tomorrow” was held at the Nobel Museum on May 15. It is to recall the history of peaceful exchanges between Korea and Sweden, from the time when the Swedish Red Cross Field Hospital was dispatched during the 1950s Korean War to the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission (NNSC) in 2018.

Attended as a special invitee, Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL, an international peace NGO, said “I’ve visited all around the world and had a number of agreements with the former and current presidents, the chief justices, and members of the National Assembly to end the war together. All leaders in each country should sign the agreement for the international law to achieve peace if they love the country and the people. To do this, the United Nations must work together to accomplish the task of peace with its spirit of peace at its inception.” After this truthful speech, everyone gave a
