Jungle? Heartless modern society? Of course, it is. But I heard there are people who pray for the world. In fact, I have been having a hard time these days. In the news, murders, accidents, and crimes are never stopped, and What if I become a target of crime? Whenever I think of this, I pray. Today I saw this YouTube clip, when this fear was coming. What were they doing? They were praising. Also they danced and danced. They danced for themselves. Don’t care others, and It seemed happy to get together. The dance with beat was very natural. It was not fancy. But The Liveliness of Africa!!! They shared the prayer points, joined hands and prayed together.

PRAYER POINTS

For The World and the Continent

  • America – China, Europe etc.
  • Effects will be global (Economic, Socio-political)
  • Rain – countries facing the droughts
  • Just governments – promoting people’s rights, freedom and responsibilities. Entrenching equality and security for all
  • Strife – created by greed, hate, religious intolerance and political rivalry, consequently creating refugees and resistance movements.

“Thanks God. Giving us Opportunity to gather. we want to change the world better place. And we together pray. Africa will be saved. “

The ministers of all denominations and all the leaders of this community came together to bring peace. They said, “This is a historic moment!!! It is really so amazing!” (The master of ceremony made a bit of a fuss) They cried out “Please bring peace to our community! Please bring peace to our country!” Peace seems to be so precious to them. So, what is the current flow of the world?

(http://www.peacestep.com/2018/05/09/resolving-conflicts-between-north-and-south-korea/) Kim Jong Un wrote “a new history begins now” and “an age of peace, at the starting point of history.”

But suddenly clouds are gathering on the horizon. President Donald Trump sent an official letter to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to cancel the summit. President Trump said he knew the anger and public hostility of North Korea’s recent remarks. Especially, he said “You talk about your nuclear capabilities, but ours are so massive and powerful that I pray to God they will never have to be used.” This was a warning remark. However, the US-North Korea Summit was held!

The reason for a nation to exist is to reassure its people. It will protect them in difficult times. In order for a single person to live like a decent human being as a citizen in the Republic of Korea” But the government has turned away from their desperate appeal. Do you know the story of the late Gu Ji-in?

Earlier this year, an adult woman in her 20s died on a family trip. There was a hidden secret in the family trip. Its purpose is for coercive religious
conversion program, not real travel. Sadly, the late Ms. Gu was choked by blocking her mouth and nose at 5:40 p.m. on December 30 2017.

South Korea is a country where freedom of religion and thought is guaranteed by the constitution. But it was a sad event in which she was killed by her beloved family during a coercive conversion program, just because she was not a member of the mainstream religious body. Unfortunately, these conversion programs have happened and continue to increase.

The victims of coercive religious conversion program are 1,000 people and 77.4 percent of the victims suffered extreme trauma

It was even reported that 10 people were hospitalized in psychiatric hospitals for not being converted. More seriously, their pain didn’t end there. 77.4 percent of the victims felt extreme fear caused by a violent environment. And 65 percent of the victims suffered from mental disorders and stress due to the coercive conversion program process and the environment.

It also stressed the importance of cooperation from major regional partners, including Australia, in order to achieve substantial results in the upcoming negotiations.

In response, Deputy Maude said, “We expect the Panmunjeom Declaration and the North-Korea USA Summit to be implemented as soon as possible, while supporting the Korean government’s efforts to develop a complete denuclearization and a permanent peace regime.”

The Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said, “Even now North Korea should show the truth and reality of its denuclearization commitments.” and stressed that “Until North Korea takes verifiable, complete and irreversible denuclearization steps, economic and diplomatic pressures from the United States, Australia and the international community will continue to be maximized.”

The Australian Secretary of Defense Christopher Pyne pointed, “Denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula is a top priority for both the United States and Australia, and the denuclearization defined by North Korea is not a measure entirely corresponding to our national interests. This is possible only when the North has sincerity.”

This day, President Donald Trump earlier sent an official letter to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to cancel the summit. President Trump said he knew the anger and public hostility of North Korea’s recent remarks. Especially, he said “You’re talking about your nuclear capability” but “I pray to God that that (our nuclear capability) will never be used because we are so strong and powerful” This was a warning remark.

Rory Medcalf, the president of the Australian National University said, “we think we need to make every effort to attract North Korea to a legal-based order.” He added, “If someone has to play an additional role in communicating with North Korea (with the U.S. etc.), Australia may be a potential country to do so.”

Peter Jennings, the executive director of the Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI), said in interview “we believe that the possibility of CVID (a complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization) of North Korea is low” and claimed “the North Korea does not conduct any missile or nuclear tests, but it still develops nuclear capability.”

At the same time, he added, “we need to build a reliable management mechanism in the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) by increasing communication and contact with North Korea.”

The problem is a credible follow-up measure. Action should be taken to build trust. This agreement could bear fruit if North Korea and the United States continue to engage in direct talks, build trust one by one, and establish liaison offices in Pyongyang and Washington in the near future.

When this happens, we believe that it will be a great blessing for all mankind beyond the Korean Peninsula. Former East Germany Prime Minister Lothar de Maizière, who achieved reunification, said that “Reunification was the will of heaven. It happens like a miracle when human endeavor is met with internal and external conditions.” The unification of the Korean Peninsula will be natural, if people’s aspirations and the meaning of heaven are gathering, just like East and West Germany. If so, it is the duty of leaders of religion and politics to move the minds of the world toward reunification.

HWPL Spreading Love and Peace to Indonesia

HWPL Peace Education Workshop

Now, we need to work together for the world of peace in order to bring an end to war and armed conflicts and leave the full legacy of peace to our future generations.HWPL Chairman Man Hee Lee

In May 2018, a group of 11 professors and faculty members of national universities in Indonesia visited the Republic of Korea to learn about HWPL Peace education. Just three months prior to their visit, there are many amazing things. Many universities in Indonesia including Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta are signing a Peace Academy MOU with HWPL! The reason why they discuss at this workshop is to integrate HWPL’s Peace Education into their curricula for the coming fall semester.

Key theme

▲ Who is responsible to bring peace?
▲ What’s the key ingredient to make this world one of peace?
▲ All humanity needs to be born again with the culture of peace.

Divided nation working for Reunification

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE HWPL Spreading Love and Peace to Indonesia Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Reunification Peace Academy MOU Peace Love Indonesia HWPL Peace Education Workshop HWPL Peace education HWPL Divided nation     Many people asked about HWPL’s peace movement in the world’s one divided nation, Korea. It is not understood by their common sense. How is this possible? One professor said “It is amazing to see a divided nation doing this work of peace. HWPL’s peace work takes great significance in the run for ending the war on the Korean Peninsula and for its reunification. By taking Mr. Lee’s purpose and his vision for peace and applying it to individuals, the environment, and governments, I am confident that it is possible to achieve peace solely by the hands of the people without any intervention from the government level or the religious leaders.”

The peace values presented by HWPL are necessary for realizing reunification led by the people.

Messengers of Love and Peace

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE HWPL Spreading Love and Peace to Indonesia Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Reunification Peace Academy MOU Peace Love Indonesia HWPL Peace Education Workshop HWPL Peace education HWPL Divided nation Each of the participants is so smart and influential. As a peace educator, they love Indonesia and study ‘ How can I deliver one better? ‘ One professor said “the workshop served as an opportunity to take one step further in thinking about what peace really is. I want to share the value of peace presented by HWPL when I return to Indonesia.” Another professor said “What I recognized from learning about HWPL peace education curriculum is that we need to clearly spread the value of peace.” The other said “When I return home, I hope to become a peace messenger, share the ideas of HWPL Peace Education with others, and contribute to resolving political discourse in Indonesia.”

Peace is necessary because it is directly related to people’s daily lives.

3 Peace Initiative : WARP Office, Alliance of Religions

Alliance of Religions

Discussing the spirit of peace written in scriptures
to step forward onto the road of world peace

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE 3 Peace Initiative : WARP Office, Alliance of Religions WARP Summit WARP OFFICE scriptures Religious Youth Peace Camp Peace messengers of peace HWPL DPCW Alliance of Religions 3 Peace Initiative     Religion is the cradle of human civilization and will always be a core influence in our society. As the world becomes more multi-religious and multi-ethnic, however, there is a seemingly diminished respect for the difference. And more concerns rise towards this new threat to peace, which can be seen in the form of religious hatred and persecution.

Seeing the current status of the religious world, HWPL thinks the solution of peace. ‘How can we make it?’ The answer they found is the Scriptures. Because it represent the accumulation of not only the spiritual and moral teachings of the respective faiths, but also a fundamental standard of human conduct.

Why Scripture? Although the common objective that all religion is the great things, these messages are often overlooked by people. Because religious people fight with each other first. They showed hostility and started a war. So peace is becoming an elusive concept. So HWPL approach towards the root cause of this hostility between faiths, defined as the misunderstandings that arise from the misinterpretation of these scriptures.

Spreading throughout the world

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE 3 Peace Initiative : WARP Office, Alliance of Religions WARP Summit WARP OFFICE scriptures Religious Youth Peace Camp Peace messengers of peace HWPL DPCW Alliance of Religions 3 Peace Initiative It began from the World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (WARP) Summit in 2014 where representative leaders from 12 religions, along with 950 participants, signed the Unity of Religion Agreement. At that time, the WARP Office Meeting was established and it has been actively practiced worldwide since then.

Strong cooperation and a network of religious communities formed by the commitment of those at the WARP Summit 2014 has been integrated with a deeper understanding of the core principles and values of each scripture.

Thus, within its Alliance of Religions Initiative, in remembrance of the promised agreement for the unity of religions, HWPL has promoted interfaith communication among religious leaders, who play an integral role in educating their congregations about differences in religious beliefs in a way that should not hinder the progress of establishing world peace.

These meetings aim to prevent the conflicts caused by religious misunderstandings and bring forth peace through gaining a deeper understanding of the standards and teachings of each religion, as well as the concept of peace spoken about in each scripture.

The Peace Office Meetings have become a global movement, and an increasing number of influential religious leaders are now going beyond their traditional roles and work as messengers of peace. This innovative initiative has stirred up discussions among leaders of various faiths and has increased peaceful interactions between them. It has shown itself to be an effective tool for breaking down the walls between religions and achieving our common goal: peace.

The Peace Office Meetings are becoming a way to create a bridge between religions in all areas of the globe.

3 Peace Initiative : DPCW Law for Peace

DPCW Law for Peace

Bottom-up approach for global peace through
establishing an international peace law

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE 3 Peace Initiative : DPCW Law for Peace United Nations Sustainable Advocacy Efforts religions nationalities Legislate Peace Campaign legal framework Law for Peace international peace law HWPL ethnicities DPCW Law for Peace DPCW Comprehensive Bottom-Up Movement bottom-up approach The status of today’s world can be traced back to the two tragic world wars of the last century. But it can found the United Nations. It was founded to respond to the atrocities of conflict and loss of human dignity. Since then, many international agreements and declarations have been developed. But additional challenges such as national and religious conflicts, cultural bias and ethnic hatred have hindered the movement of peace. And innocent civilians have to pay the price.

In this regard, HWPL thinks that the international society needs a comprehensive legal approach that guides citizens’ daily lives, regardless of their nationalities, ethnicities, and religions. To secure peace at both national and international levels, the invention of a legal framework in the form of an international agreement (law) will pave the way for developing peace processes in our world.

These essential objectives of HWPL are manifested in the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) drafted by the HWPL International Law Peace Committee, which is comprised of prominent international law experts from 15 different countries, and proclaimed on 14 March, 2016 in the form of a Preamble, 10 articles and 38 clauses.

Two Key Challenges

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE 3 Peace Initiative : DPCW Law for Peace United Nations Sustainable Advocacy Efforts religions nationalities Legislate Peace Campaign legal framework Law for Peace international peace law HWPL ethnicities DPCW Law for Peace DPCW Comprehensive Bottom-Up Movement bottom-up approach

Comprehensive Bottom-Up Movement

Under the Law for Peace Initiative, HWPL engages substantially with civil society actors because peace cannot be sustained only through the voices of elites and institutionalized processes. Going beyond all divisional lines, HWPL suggests a civil society function in peace-building, which aims at the implementation of citizens’ advocacy and the voluntary practice of democratic values, thus fostering a culture of peace.

The main activities within this function are carried out under the Legislate Peace Campaign, a bottom-up approach for peaceful conflict resolution through establishing an international peace law. More leaders in politics, legal fields, the press, and faith-based organizations are acknowledging the greater involvement of civil society within the initiative and have implemented joint activities advocating for the ultimate peace system that can encompass all States and peoples.

Sustainable Advocacy Efforts

Civil society actors and government representatives working with HWPL ensure that they will continue to call for a successful Law for Peace Initiative based on governmental and nongovernmental cooperation, thereby building participatory structures which allow sustainable peace settlement. When an international legal framework compatible with the DPCW is established and holds all States accountable for peaceful conflict resolution and ceasing war-like activities, HWPL believes that it will eradicate the structural causes of violent conflicts. This is the source of the sustainable advocacy efforts.

3 Peace Initiative : HWPL Peace Education

VISION & MISSION

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE 3 Peace Initiative : HWPL Peace Education Vision Sanctity of Life Peace Initiative Peace education Mission Loyalty and Filial Piety HWPL culture of peace Co-Existence and Sustainability Despite the many differences that exist between individuals, we should all live in harmony in the global village; however, war and conflict currently threaten the lives and safety of all. In order to end war and inherit everlasting peace in the future, we must teach the values necessary for a new era of peace rather than the old ideology that has been stained by war.

HWPL Peace Education’s vision is to enlighten students and cultivate talented individuals with the values and spirit of peace, who can then play a pioneering role in spreading the culture of peace. This education provides a fundamental understanding of the basic principles that human beings must observe for peace to be created. Through the discovery and internalization of these peace values the inner selves of students and their ability to live together in harmony with others in their own community, and even the world, is properly nurtured.

In order to successfully cultivate children and young people as peacemakers, HWPL Peace Education first works to erase previously held ideas and values that are corrupt by directly showing how the world has become evil in the present era, and then plant the peaceful values needed for the new era of peace in their stead. It also introduces a new methodology in which the values of peace can be applied in all environments and real-life situations happening outside the classroom.

HWPL VALUE INTEGRATED EDUCATION

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE 3 Peace Initiative : HWPL Peace Education Vision Sanctity of Life Peace Initiative Peace education Mission Loyalty and Filial Piety HWPL culture of peace Co-Existence and Sustainability     The HWPL Peace curriculum has been developed on the basis of the core values of peace, which include ‘Sanctity of Life’, ‘Loyalty and Filial Piety’, and ‘Coexistence and Sustainability’, and demonstrates clearly how these peace values are applicable on a personal level, as well as within the broader community. HWPL Peace Education is an innovative education that pioneers the establishment and propagation of a culture of peace by cultivating talented individuals with the mindset of peace.

‘Sanctity of Life’

By internalizing the importance and value of the sanctity of life, as well as cultivating respect for both oneself and others, the foundation is laid for treating all humanity as worthy and equal. This plays a key role in overcoming conflicts and situations that result from differences in nationality, ethnicity, religion, culture and ideology.

‘Loyalty and Filial Piety’

By understanding the principle of social order and considering all humanity as valuable and equal, based on a sincere respect for others, it is possible to construct new behaviors in life in accordance with the necessary values required to live in harmony with one another.

‘Co-existence and Sustainability’

Learning the norms and laws necessary for sustaining peaceful coexistence within the community and society allows for the development of a complete peaceful mindset in citizens as well as the ability to understand the way of harmonious coexistence and responding peacefully in various situations.

Humanity India : Solution of Peace

A STEP TOWARDS PEACE Humanity India : Who Will Lead India’s NEXT? peace letters peace as legacy Man Hee Lee Legislate Peace Campaign IWPG IPYG international law HWPL Humanity India DPCW Declaration of World Peace All India Human Rights Association Responding to the necessity of establishing a legal framework to eradicate disputes or armed conflicts, HWPL proposed the ‘Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW)’ which embodies the value of the ‘Declaration of World Peace’, as a solution of World Peace. Volunteers and citizens from various countries including the U.S, Sri Lanka, India, China, France as well as Afghanistan and Palestine, the disputed areas, gathered for activities such as peace walk, peace letter writing, and signing campaign for international law for peace.

“Many leaders in many parts of the world showed their support for peaceful unification of Korea. We received ‘peace letters‘ that support the idea from students and youth in the countries we visited. By liquidating the past of pointing guns to kill each other, Korea should stand as a country of peace. I am certain that, as all humanity desires peace, the Korean Peninsula and globe will indeed see peace,” said Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL.

HWPL DPCW chairman Lee     As growing attention by the inter-Korean summit, the wind of peace is blowing all over the world. It is to be followed by the highly anticipated North Korea-US summit. In Sweden, there is also peace movement by Korean international NGO. On May 14, the Religious Leaders Conference was held with participants from Buddhism, Christianity, Islam and Hinduism. Its purpose is to discuss the further development of inter-religious dialogues for peace-building.

It can be “bridge-builders of peace”

“Everything that religious leaders discuss at the WARP Office must clearly be based on what is written in the scripture, which needs to be comprehensively analyzed and studied for the true alliance of religions. We have to gather all religious scriptures and work to define a trustworthy scripture with a legitimate standard. The word is invisible, but it does a lot of work. Scriptures play a significant role in the alliance of religions,” said Chairman Lee.

It started from “World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (WARP) Offices”, with 218 locations in 124 countries. HWPL has carried out this peace project to find the role of religion in peace-building through comparative studies on scriptures. There was a lot of talk and lot solutions came up. As one of solutions, HWPL is currently hosting Religious Youth Peace Camps globally as a means of developing interfaith reconciliation, so young people can experience peace as a common value permeated in all religions. Starting with Cambodia in April of last year, the camp was later held in India, Lithuania, Myanmar, and the Netherlands to assist the youth in learning about the culture and spirit of different religions.

HWPL DPCW chairman Lee Organized by the International Peace Youth Group (IPYG) affiliated with HWPL, the “Positive Change for Tomorrow” was held at the Nobel Museum on May 15. It is to recall the history of peaceful exchanges between Korea and Sweden, from the time when the Swedish Red Cross Field Hospital was dispatched during the 1950s Korean War to the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission (NNSC) in 2018.

Prof. Carl-Henrik Heldin, Chairman of the Nobel Museum in Stockholm delivered the congratulatory message, “It is Nobel‘s spirit that makes the advancement of mankind’s skills in science, literature and medicine contributes to a better world. Sweden and Korea, and further the vision of IPYG working for peace are synonymous with the spirit of Nobel. I hope that this event will be a great opportunity to bring peace on the Korean peninsula.”

Mr. Man Hee Lee of HWPL expressed his gratitude to these Swedish efforts and noted that Sweden as a neutral country and the Republic of Korea as a ceasefire country should cooperate more for the sake of peace in the world. “Who can bring about peace while we stand still? By putting an end to war, a world of peace can be established. It is our responsibility to establish a world of peace as a legacy for future generations, which is the very task of every one of our global family members.”
